It's clearly a hotel property that's been around a while. Parking is tough and scarce if you get to the property in the later afternoon. Rooms have been retrofitted to accommodate a king bed and bunk beds for kids. The trade off, no tables or any kinds of chairs in the room; no place to sit! That and putting four beds into the room puts the king bed in very close proximity to the a/c unit. The person closest the unit freezes while others in the room are warm. It is definitely a supply/demand type situation for lodging in Bar Harbor. The Holiday Inn isn't a bad hotel, it just doesn't compare with newer properties we are accustomed to.

In summary: we've enjoyed our stay, and we're extending one more night to spend more time in Acadia National Park. I took one star off because I think it's over priced for what we're getting. I understand it's the busy season and we're staying on the water, so I expect it to be costly, but we have a pint-sized fridge that's on the floor - you have to kneel down to get into it. No microwave. Hard beds and uncomfortable pillows. But the view is incredible from the restaurant and the food is good. And the park is so wonderful that the proximity is worth this.

We were happy to get two rooms during a peak week in the summer but as with everything in Bar Harbor, the rooms were way overpriced. The rooms were small and clean but dated and for the money you are paying I would expect something significantly nicer.
The hotel gym was minuscule so plan to find someplace else to workout if that’s at all important.
Dinner at the restaurant was the saving grace. Great views, great service and the food was excellent

Short staffed? Had to wait a long time for room to be ready even though we were checking in on time. Other than service the place is alright although a "resort" may be overstating things. There's a heated pool which is nice. Everything else is very on par with a standard hotel. Restaurant on site has great food but a tad expensive. Service here (not affiliated with hotel) was very nice but also slow. Also getting to the hotel is a real hassle due to construction in the area but that's not their fault.

We loved visiting Bar Harbor and the view our hotel had to offer. The area it is located in is very tranquil. Waking up every morning stepping out to the balcony to see a beautiful view of the water and the mountains was very peaceful. The staff was very accommodating and very nice, bringing our bags from the car to the room without request. The room was very pretty and always clean when we came back. The pool had wonderful views and had a nice bar located close by. I do wish however that the hot tub wasn't as crowded as it always was. Overall, I would absolutely come back to this hotel if I were ever in the Bar Harbor area again.

Stayed one night. Located conveniently close to the loop road of Acadia. Check in was quick. The lobby is well decorated with nice places to sit. The room was pretty small and our view was of the parking lot. The breakfast was mediocre and cost way more than it was worth. Otherwise no complaints. The grounds looked beautiful. We didn't use the pool but it overlooked the ocean and looked lovely.

Holiday Inn Resort at Bar Harbor have a nice location. If you book a right room, which can face the ocean, beautiful view. I did not notice have a ocean view before I book the room. My room is kind too small. There are couple nice restaurants near by too.

Hotel is in a wonderful location but a fair drive to the downtown with the construction. Restaurants are surprisingly good with a nice pool area near by. Rooms are comfortable and clean but not particularly modern. Cell service is already spotty but the hotel wireless is absolutely horrible if you care about that.

Had a great ocean view room. Room was good sized and clean. Nice sitting area and a small table with chairs. Small balcony with room to sit and relax with an amazing view. The property is a bit older, but very well kept grounds. Only complaint, they blew my pre-arranged connecting rooms.

Terrible
Front desk girl didn't know what she was doing to check us in. Took 25 minutes
Manager didn't stay with her to help until I finally asked him.
Got to our bldg and unloaded luggage but keys didn't work so my 80 year old husband had to go back to the desk. Long line. The original girl never keyed the room number in.
Need ice to keep medication cold. One ice machine on 3rd floor, no elevator. REALLY!!!!
I feel we should be compensated for all of
the inconveniences. A $75 refund would be greatly appreciated.

Just stopped at the Holiday Inn Resort to use the pool amenities as it was available to Days Inn guests as well. It was beautiful and peaceful. Had a great a time.

Staff is really nice and they have great views. I can see why some people think it's outdated but it don't really affect me. Nice pool and Hot tub. Restaurant inside serves good food although some might find it expensive. They have a laundry room on site, good parking and small balcony.

We stayed here for 2 night this week, and while the view and the facilities are good, one gets confused if you are really in a Holiday Inn property because most of what you see are still Bar Harbor Regency, in terms of names/labels and quality of interior. There is hardly anything that feels like Holiday Inn other than the logo in the street to mark your turn, and the key card that you are given. The lamps in the rooms have bodies that looked like they came from world war 1. I could not figure out what personality of the hotel is the interior trying to project.

We did our laundry in this hotel and had the worst laundry experience. The washer does not spin the clothes enough that you can still feel it dripping water the moment you pick them up and move them to the drier. So what happens when you dry is that the walls of the drier gets so much splatter of water around its interior walls and doors as it moves the clothes inside it. What happened was that 1 round of drying worth $2.5 was not enough to dry your clothes, that we ended up doing 2 rounds, and still ended up having very damp clothes. We did not want to pay for another round and just hang them to dry in the room overnight. Waste of money. I don't know why they have not replaced such washing and drying machine in a location that should be competitive of other hotels.

We reported it to the lobby and nothing was done about it. When we had this experience last time in a Marriott Residence Inn in Milpitas, CA, at least we were refunded for the cost of the extra spin of the drier.

Great seasonal location. The facility is a bit out dated, however very welcoming. Staff is friendly, facility is clean, and has all the basic amenities you need. When coming to Bar Harbor Maine you typical don't sit around in a hotel room or facility anyway. There are so many things to do and see and the staff here can give you advice on things to do. However, this facility does have a pool, hot tub, and outside lounging if you choose to do that. It has an on-site restaurant and bar that is great. The views from the facility are amazing. Enjoy!

Beautiful place and grounds. No elevator in our three story building. Breakfast buffet was expensive but outstanding. Not a typical H Inn.

This was a decent place, nothing fancy. The carpets were newish and bed spreads and curtains didnt have the icky factor but cost $400/ night. That's a bit expensive for a very middle of the road, non-luxary hotel.

It's a great resort right on the harbor, the views are spectacular. I really enjoyed eating in their restaurant with the beautiful view of the harbor. It's also very close to Acadia National Park entrance, so it was very convenient for getting up early to see sunrise at Cadillac Mountain. The room was spacious and clean and the staff was very polite and friendly. The buffet breakfast was very delicious and they had unique pastries and other things that are not the typical hotel breakfast food so i liked it a lot the smoothies, parfaits and varieties of pastries and fresh croissants.

I stayed here for 11 nights for work. This place has terrible wifi. Sometimes you're lucky to connect in your room. It was hard to get anything done here. They claim the island has a bad connection, but it works fine in town.

The room is spacious and clean but have a musky smell. There is a laundry room with 4 machines, but 2 washing machines spin cycle actually works.
Nice hot tub and has a heated pool. Breakfast isn’t bad with a view.

When I sit at the reception, I hear people complaining all the time about something not working. I cannot recommend this place.

Hotel has a great view of harbor. Rooms are clean & spacious. Had a billing issue desk clerk told us at check in that room included breakfast this was confirmed by our waiter. However at checkout this wasn't the case. Manager did resolve fully to our satisfaction. I recommend & would stay there again.

Clean basic room, shower took a bit of fiddling with to get working. Staff was helpful in getting us a room with a nice view. The views are amazing, and the at hotel amenities are great. There is a hot tub and a pool along with two restaurants and a bar.

Good views from the hotel, however, the property and specially it's ocean view rooms lack value for money as they often have partial views obstructed by the pool and lawn. Hot tub was occupied and crowded all day and the hotel didn't do anything to fix that even after I called to report the issue. After paying almost $250 per night (before taxes) I expect better use of facilities and better management. The view from their restaurant/breakfast area is stunning. If you decide to stay here and want an ocean view, demand the proctor wing for the 3rd or 4th floor with an ocean view. That's the only ones that are worth your while. However the proctor wing does not have an elevator and is not for everyone. The hotel staff was nice enough to accommodate an early check in for us. I would try to check different hotels or inns near Village Green for the same price next time.

A mostly eaten pie greeted us at the entrance to our room. Traces of the pie were found on the porch as well. I'm not sure when the pie was consumed, hopefully not between the room being prepared and us showing up.

To the point though, the hotel is overall alright. The pool, hot tub, and outdoor bar are all very nice. The views are gorgeous, if you're on that side of the building. The value of the hotel will probably be based on how important the seaside outdoor area is to you.

This hotel was great for our visit to Bar Harbor. We checked in around 5pm and our room was immediately ready. The room was clean and spacious, with a beautiful view of the water. The heated pool was open to 11pm, which was perfect for late evening relaxing. We were a few minutes' drive from downtown, and the Island Explorer bus stopped right out front.

I was here during the memorial day weekend and there was something fishy going on with all the hotels in the area. I was booked at a Days inn nearby, who claimed to be overbooked and sent my stay over to Holiday inn. Friends who were booked in Holiday inn were told that Holiday inn was overbooked and sent over to another hotel in downtown bar harbor..

Hotel facilities were great, they even have us free breakfast, but for some reason charged the tax to the card I provided for incidentals.

This is a beautiful location. We were only going to stay 1 nights ended up staying 4 nights. Every place "needs work" the views are amazing, the staff is friendly and helpful. There are paths to walk along the sea. It's clean and lovely.
We will definitely come back.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

beautiful location, close to the parks... the only bad thing about this place was the way they had coffee in the morning. I wish they had a serve your self coffee setup but you had to go to the bar in the restaurant area and ask for coffee. Maybe this has changed since I was there. But really, the pool is nice, the view is beautiful, i love the hot tub, there is an outdoor bar but it was a little expensive. The hotel is also close to the town and the national park

The rooms have a good size and are well equipped. But everything is a bit old in here. The situation of the hotel is good but you'll need your car to go to the center of Bar Harbor.

Great stay over Labor Day weekend. Fantastic views from our room which was clean and well made. No noise issues. Jacuzzi was rather busy but this wasn't an issue as we need to use it. The Italian restaurant is also pretty good. Breakfast buffet is too expensive ($17) for what they offer. Recommend heading downtown for more options. Would happily come back to the hotel in the future.

Not got for travelers.
The hotel is very expensive, breakfast not included and very expensive too.
Good thing is the rooms that very clean and the staff is nice too.
The hotel doesn't offer a lot of service and the fitness center is very disappointing for such a big hotel.

Really enjoyed my stay here while touring Acadia National Park. I would say I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to hotels. This place was ascetically pleasing and CLEAN so my stay was quite cozy. The views were breathtaking and ranged from sleep inducing fog to big sky clouds over the Atlantic. It was very dark and quiet at night. My room had an ocean view which I would highly recommend. The pool and hot tub were great amenities. Chatted with some very interesting people from all over in the hot tub. Very nice proximity to town. The only thing I didn't like was their restaurant. Convenient if you need food but I highly recommend trekking into town and exploring a little. Will be back!

We enjoyed our stay there, our room was nice with an ocean view as we had requested. The carpet in the hallways didn't seem to fit with the other décor and we were surprised to find the 3 pictures hanging in our room were not from the area. One picture of Boston Harbor and two from Nantucket. You'd think they would have hung Bar Harbor scenes..

Of note, we asked for a pull out for our 10 yr old in our reservations from a few months earlier. We arrived and had to ask twice for the rollaway and what we were provided was a blow up mattress which we were charged $20 for. They later took off the charge when we checked out.

Pool bar service was slow, but the pool and spa were nice. The La Bella Vita was nice and our server Jonah was a really nice young man. Wine prices were a little over the top, but oh well.
