I give this motel 5 stars do to their customer service for my daughter! she had needed a place to stay while waiting for a sober living home. And when it look like she needed one more day, went down and talked to them and they were beyond helpful! Because of them my daughter was able to stay one more night and not be on the streets before giving into a place. because of the situation and how my daughter had been struggling and really trying this came as a huge breath of fresh air! Thank you so much for helping her and being there!! And for your kind workers!

Needed a temporary place to stay in the area and found this place to be the cheapest in the city. Conveniently located off 95 and close to many restaurants (unfortunately all restaurants were only offering takeout due to COVID-19). Check-in line was very long as only 1 staff member was working but worth the wait because of the price. They had a glass shield up on front desk to socially distance and had contactless check in. Clean room. Did not have daily housekeeping probably due to safety concerns but did offer fresh towels to pick up at front desk. Will stay again when back in the area

In these crazy times, this was one of the few hotels that was accepting essential travelers (I am a traveling nurse) at a great price. Room was pretty minimal, as expected, but clean and got the job done. I felt confident staying here, despite the covid fears, as I could see the staff wearing PPE and using proper disinfectants in the common areas. Unfortunately the elevator was out of order during my stay but I was informed that it was scheduled to be repaired in the coming weeks.

In general your entrance makes the place feel like a prison. But it was nice that the rooms had recently had work done to them.

The curtain in room 124 is installed too far from the wall and the parking lot light bleeds into the room.

This is a very nice Hotel but keep in mind that it is a Motel 6. The employees were wonderful & very helpful. The place is clean & well kept from what I saw, although my toilet ran the entire time I was there. When I notified the front desk the maintenance man came in, looked at it, left, came back but it never stopped running. After a couple days I didn't hear it anymore. Overall I had a Wonderful stay while in Maine.

No frills but comfortable enough. If you literally just need a clean place to shower and sleep, this place will suit. Single queen room was small and sparse - like an upgraded hostel suite - so packing two adults plus children into one might be tricky. They do get bonus points for a super-fast check-in process. I reserved online and, unlike with every other hotel I've reserved this way, when I arrived I didn't have to repeat all the information again: gave my name, got a key, and was done in 45 seconds.

Overall it was an acceptable hotel for the cheaper rate compared to the surrounding hotels. It is an old building and all the doors stuck. They offer very minimal amenities (no Kleenex, no shampoo/conditioner, no breakfast, no hair dryer, no ironing board). The hallway smelled like smoke. The room and bathroom was clean and had tv. The staff was very polite.

Well the staff were fantastic. Helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Rooms were clean but smelled of old perfume and dirty socks. Parking was easy and plenty of it to choose from. Overall not a bad experience. Just not one I will choose to make again for the price.

I Stay at this motel multiple times a week because of their great service. The receptionists are friendly and cleaning staff do a wonderful job keeping the rooms clean. Definitely enjoy my stays here and consider it a home away from home when in town for work.

Great place to stay for the price! The whole staff is always helpful and friendly! Diane had been especially helpful with providing us with information and extra supplies for the room when needed! We have been staying here while we are in house purchase process and have enjoyed the stay. I have a dog and take her out at all hours day and night and have never felt uncomfortable at all! They have an on-site washer and dryer open to guests if needed. A soda and snack machine. Two ice machines which is very helpful with no fridge. There is also a microwave in the front lobby for guest use so if you have leftovers from a night out or just pick up a quick meal at the grocery store across the street you have a way to cook it. Quick easy access to the highway. Shopping and eating near by and not too far from the airport!

Your basic Motel 6. I felt safe and very much at home. I read some of the reviews and I didn't see any questionable things to make me feel less safe. Animals and kids are welcome. Definitely a great family place for the price. Nothing fancy but lots of friendly staff and Diane made me very relaxed with all she did to make sure our experience was the best. Will definitely stay here again.

There was no table in the room. I do not care for the chairs that are being distributed to all of your properties, they are uncomfortable and are not sturdy. These chairs are not going to sustain long life and I predict will eventually break and people will be injured. I had to bring my own chair in from the car daily, so that I would have a place to comfortably sit. Every day had to request housekeeping services. A guest should not have to request this as a special privilege, it should just be done! A sign on the front door indicated that the fire alarm was not working. This is a real safety issue and really should be addressed immediately. There are many properties of Motel6 that I would return to. This is not one that I will return to!!!!!

the service at the front desk was great! I always love the looks of the motel 6 and am happy with the cleanliness. This last stay however our room had dirty towels on the bathroom floor but the receptionist was very fast in moving us to a new one. Only complaint is I wish all rooms had a mini fridge sometimes you have to pay more for one and sometimes you don't

I gave this a three, because the front desk people were super friendly and kind. It was a long trip, and a late trip - and a late reservation. They were very helpful, without being asked.
I went straight to sleep - but in the morning, found that the bathroom sink was dirty, there was a black hair on the towel draped over the tub, and there were nail clippings on the bathroom floor.
I did tell the front desk people in the morning, but they made no attempts to credit me or even apologize for it. I think for what I paid, it could have been cleaner - and perhaps a hair dryer as well???

Rather disturbing with locks and bolts about, perhaps the neighborhood. Room door was hard to open but room was lively. Love your towel racks with the yellow front and holes for the rolled towels.

To be fair, I witnessed the staff doing their best to make the hotel a good place.
But, in our short stay, the police came on 3 occasions to arrest people. There were people sleeping in cars in the parking lot. And the entire first floor and the elevator smelled strongly of marijuana.

The staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable overall. Close enough to downtown. There's a supermarket across the street, as well as places to eat within walking distance. My only concerns - because of pets being allowed, the hallway smelled like pets and pet waste; and housekeeping staff didn't do any housekeeping (including changing bed linens).

Rooms are very clean & motel very quiet & well kept.. Great quality & service for a low price. Well definitely stay here at motel 6 in the future..

We were traveling with our dog who was recovering from surgery. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. We chose to stay at motel 6 because of their pet friendly policy as we knew we would have Petunia with us. She definitely enjoyed the attention and treats from the staff!

Service was good and room was clean. The hotel is a short distance from the center of the city which is quite convenient. There is a slight smell of cigarette smoke throughout the building and in the room. Not a bad experience but will probably look elsewhere in the future.

As I am leaving Maine to go home to the West Coast. I wanted to find a reasonable Hotel that was Clean, courteous. Helpful, and priced right. My room was cleaned to perfection, cable t.v. Great. It's just steps away from Restsurants, Shopping, Grocery, and just minutes from The Happenings of Portland. Consider coming here. It's really Wonderful!!!

Our stay at the Motel 6 Portland, ME was an average stay. The location was nice and worked well for what we wanted to see/experience during our time in Portland. It seemed to be in a good area, but there was definitely an interesting crowd of people who were staying at the hotel. The staff was VERY friendly and very accommodating. They were extra busy the night was stayed, however the GM took the time to give us some awesome recommendations. The room was clean and nicely updated based on our experiences with other Motel 6s. The room was mostly quiet and the bed was okay comfort wise. The biggest problem we had was with the STRONG smoke smell in the hallways and elevator. Also there were people smoking things other than cigarettes in their rooms. The smell came into our room at some points. Throughout the night, there were several police officers/cars who came, but we did not know what was going on, which made me feel a little uneasy. We never felt unsafe, but to see your hotel on the 11:00pm news saying there is a "heavy police presence," it can be a little unnerving. When we asked what happened in the morning, the kind lady at the front desk said she didn't know, but something was always going on around there. That did not give me warm fuzzies. Overall, the price was right for what we received and the staff was amazing. I just cannot stand the smell of smoke and the area might not have been as safe as we first thought.

My kids and I had to stay here for two weeks, due to power outages and damage to our home. The room is exceptionally clean, and welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that all of our needs were met. Everyone was so friendly, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I highly recommend the Motel 6 in Portland.

Lady and young man at the counter on Monday PM were very friendly professional n helpful. Room was clean, but reminded me of a dorm room but for the price I got a good value. I did ask to have the room left alone, Do Not Distrub, but maid came in to refresh towels, but I was by myself. Why not change the sheets too? I would stay again.

Have stayed here two years in a row. All of the staff are wonderful, very helpful and fun! If you need anything, just ask one of the staff, they go out of their way to accommodate. The rooms are always clean and fresh. We've never had an issues with our stay. My husband and I will continue to book our room here!

Motel 6 in Portland, Maine is in a very user friendly location. Also, the location is dog friendly, with the front staff providing some nice snacks for our pooch. We were in town for an event that required sleep the night before and an early am awakening. We were able to get a nice bite from a restaurant across the street, and able to grab some last-minute necessities from a grocery store that was also across the street. The beds were comfortable and the environment quiet. Motel 6 fit our needs very well!

This Motel 6 was clean and easy to find and access. The staff was efficient and helpful. I very much enjoyed my stay. The only thing I missed in the room was shampoo, which I guess is standard Motel 6 policy.

The staff is extremely friendly. The motel is conveniently located approximately 10 minutes from downtown Portland. The rooms were clean however there was a faint smell of paint and stale smoke in our non-smoking room. It isn't fancy, just the basics. If you are planning on spending the majority of your time out exploring the city, I would highly recommend staying here, we did it with 2 small children and it worked great.

Upon arriving at motel 6, me and my misses were greeted cheerfully by the night staff and quickly set up with our room keys. The staff are always very talkative friendly and constantly have a smile on their face. Beyond helpful throughout my trip and stay in the us pointing me to places to visit and were to get food and basic supplies. Excellent service and excellent staff. Very pleased with my booking and I would gladly stay there again.

The manager went out of her way to help us have a great time at the motel and in Portland. She gave us suggestions on were to go and what to see. It made for a good stay.

This is a hard review to write because the hotel isn't dirty--the towels and bedsheets are very nice and very clean, which is an important element for a hotel stay. If you just want a place to lay your head for a night or two then I'd say OK, do it. But there are other things that make it feel very creepy, like the signs everywhere telling you to lock your door, like the rooms feeling a bit like a jail cell with fake wood flooring, nothing on the walls--basically nothing to make the room feel warm and inviting. And the worst part was the fact that there was no free WiFi, which is ridiculous and uncalled for!!! This hotel is NOT that inexpensive and had I known this, I would have stayed elsewhere. All of that being said, the people who worked there were very nice and helpful so our one night stay was OK. But I made sure that we didn't stay at another motel 6 while on our road trip.

Barebones--be sure to take your own shampoo, lotion, cooler, etc. Comfortable bed for 2. Our room was clean, functional, surprisingly quiet for a place right by I-95 and with a lot of cars in the parking lot. Nothing fancy, very helpful staff, plus it's right by a department store, supermarket/pharmacy, fast food, restaurants, gas station/convenience store, Goodwill store--in case you've forgotten anything. Within a couple of minutes you can be in downtown Portland or out in the beautiful countryside.

Whenever I go on vacation I always stay at Motel 6. The rooms are always clean, beds are comfortable and you get WiFi and a TV. That is all that I need. I always make reservations months in advance and I am quoted a certain price for a room. When I get to the Motel I expect to pay the price that was quoted and not an inflated price that they charged me at this motel. Plus a higher weekend rate than the weekly rate. I stayed on Thursday June 8 and Friday June 9. The rate is higher on Friday night than Thursday night. Much higher than the quoted rate. When I checked out the clerk at the front desk would not do anything to fix it. So I left.

I tend to have to take very late or very early flights. I stay at Motel 6 because there is no fuss check in regardless of the hour I arrive. They are almost always close to the airport.
If I happen to be traveling by car with my dog I can always depend on them being pet-friendly.

I have stayed in a number of Motel 6's in the past, and have always been fine with it. The price is low, so I understand that it's not a resort. But this place was bad.

It is clear that this motel has a good number of people who essentially live there. The hallways smelled of cigarette smoke, as did our room, which was a non-smoking room. There were dogs roaming the halls, and also barking in their rooms incessantly. There were groups of people who were clearly drunk and/or high, both when we arrived at 4:00 and also when we got back in the later evening. My wife went so far as to say she didn't even feel safe.

The staff didn't even acknowledge us when we left. The room was clear looking, but smelled horrible.

A really poor experience. I gave it a one star, but somehow it came up as 2. It's really a 0.

The cost is great and very close to where I had to be for 3 days but the hotel is obviously "dated"
Everything was clean and worked but I do object to paying for WIFi and told that if I wanted streaming I had to go outside. Towels were coarse- I'm sure nobody walks off with them. I hate no tissues to blow my nose. I know I can use toilet paper but really. You have soap but no shampoo- I know hotels that have little packets that they ask you if you will need . Also in this day and age almost all hotels have a fridge and microwave. And a table with only 1 chair- I'm glad I was traveling alone

Despite the friendliness of the front desk staff, the motel overall left a lot to be desired. While the room was clean enough, the common areas need to be updated, and the stairwell needs a thorough cleaning (smells of both human and dog urine). Although a nonsmoking room, it still smelled of smoke. Checking out was a debacle when one of the staff ran screaming as we walked through the first locked door, and begged to be buzzed in to get away from my well behaved dog. There is only one way in and out, and requires card access to go through two sets of locked doors. That matched with the stark room and concrete walls, the overall feeling was that of "is this what prison is like?".

This motel is ideal for a break or a business trip to Portland or Westbrook as it sits on the border between the two. The beds are very comfortable with lovely squishy pillows, and the bathrooms are spotlessly clean. The staff obviously take great pride in their work. There is free ice if needed and hot water too. It is located next to a shopping complex and there is a frequent day time bus service. The staff are helpful and attentive. I would definitely recommend this motel.

Nice stay in the great city of Portland Maine! Close drive to all my stops, the money I saved there with my pets was well spent on the unique foods and restaurants available. Plenty of grassy areas to walk the dogs as well.

The staff were all very nice and the property was clean. The internet was down and remained so. I couldn't conduct my business. I had to seek a fast food place to do a modified work load. It was on in the morning and I could have gone online for the 30 minutes time I had but who wants to pay a fee for a few minutes. And, what motel charges for the net anymore?

The rooms are excellent, very bright and clean. The ladies at the desk were extremely helpful and friendly. It's a comfortable environment on every level.

It was an impromptu visit to Portland, ME. I booked the room the same day I arrived. The staff was friendly, and the room was spotless. Very pleased.

We weren't sure what to expect but we found the room clean, and although very small, adequate for a one night stay. The bed was comfortable and there was no noise either in the motel or outside. The bathroom was spacious, the water hot enough, but the flow not very strong. Motel 6 gives you a low-cost and convenient place to stay. We'd do it again.

I use Motel 6 a lot. No frills, but usually the cheapest in town. No different this time, Clean, sparse, but I'm just sleeping or watching television. The one "negative" is having to pay for WiFi. That's the reason for the "4".

The staff definitely go above and beyond to be helpful. They're extremely friendly! However, the room was very small and not at all inviting, but the price was right for what I needed.

They could separate customers..sort them out better. Ex. Families vs weekend party folk... Would make the awkward elevator ride easier to deal with. A smoking area would help many..

The room was reasonably comfortable, quiet, clean and tidy but there was a pervasive smell of cigarette smoke in the halls and elevator which of course permeated the room too. In fact, I noticed a cigarette butt on the elevator floor the first morning which was still there the following morning when we checked out.
It would have been nice to have a lounge chair or two in the room as well.
The bed was too hard for my wife.

Location was great, right out side of the city of Portland in Maine. Although the staff was very kind the smell when going farther than the first floor was terrible. The smell of cigarettes was everywhere. I thought smoking in building was left back in the 80s? The room was fine, what you would expect, small, but good for the price.

Due to an impending snow storm on Sunday night and meeting in Portland on Monday morning. I booked a night at Motel 6.
when I arrived there were questionable men smoking 2 feet from the entrance. I had to walk through smoke. I immediately was not comfortable being a solo traveler. The receptionist did not greet me, I asked if the hotel was safe. She assured me it was.
The room was basic...there was no chair in room 133....
The room appeared clean....
The maids were very helpful. The price was reasonable for a last minute place to stay....
You get what you pay for....

This is about as basic a hotel as you will find. And want to find. That being said... It really was clean and functional, which are my two main needs. The only thing I really missed was having a fridge in the room. With hotel rates in Portland as high as they are during peak seasons, don't let the brand scare you away if you are just looking for a clean room and bed to sleep in.

Place was clean, front desk people very friendly. But the place wreaked of smoke bad! They have non smoking rooms a few doors down from smoking, so even the non smoking rooms smelled heavily of smoke. The rooms are very simple. A tv, but no clock. What motel doesn't have a clock? No shampoo or conditioner, but that's a " you get what you pay for". Room was cheap and clean. Bed was comfy enough. Would have been great if it hadn't been so smoky! Oh and you have to pay for Wi-Fi, if it's even working. Lol again, no biggie, but some people might flip over that.

Hey, for the price of staying there, the place was nice! The manager on duty, Nick, was awesome! Gave great tips on travel into the White Mountains for hikes and sites. We came back to stay the next night because you couldn't beat the price! Plus, our room was decent, and the staff already knew us by then.

the room was clean, comfortable, easy to access from the front door, and everything worked. that is all i really require in a motel room. the check-in staff, mostly younger people, were friendly, helpful and welcoming. unfortunately the two older men at the desk when i checked out were unfriendly and rude. they should be replaced with younger, friendly staff. if it were not for the two older, rude men, my review would have been "loved it" rather than just "liked it". but i would definitely recommend this motel 6 to others. i especially appreciate that all motel 6's are pet-friendly. this is very important to me as, although not this time, i often travel with my animals.

Disappointed. For nearly $100 for two adults for a one night stay, I expected better. Looks like the motel was recently remodeled, but done so on a shoestring budget. One small elevator serves all four floors of the rather large motel. A handsome outdoor marquee leads you up to a small (manual open) front door, and into a very plain front desk lobby area.
Rooms are clean, Bathroom nice. Beds comfortable, but blankets thin (no extras to be found in room). Just the most basic furnishings (our room had was two double beds and bureau). No table. No wall pictures. No alarm clock. Hard laminate floors (no carpet). The single hard-back chair in the room most have been borrowed from a cafeteria. You want to eat?... eat while sitting on the bed. Garishly bright lights just outside the window glared through the curtains. Distracting and hard to ignore.
No amenities, like coffee pot in room, no microwave.
We were assigned a non-smoking room on a smoking okay floor. Smell of cigarette smoke was very heavy in the hallway and elevator.
You want internet, you'll have to pay for it. $3 a night.
