I'd like to start off by thanking the attentive staff at Motel 6 for meeting every request that I needed to make my visit a comfortable and worry free stay. Aaron at the front desk was very helpful with a reservation issue I had, and was very helpful to make a few calls to make sure charges were made accordingly & the issue would be dealt with. The manager (male, I forgot to ask for his name) at this hotel was very welcoming and even moved me to a room that had everything I would need. Amazing staff!!..The location is great right off and onto highway access. Gastations and delicious In n Out across the st. The security made my stay feel safe as well during night time , making his rounds of walking around the property, really nice guy as well. I hope this review influences your decision in making it your choice for your stay while in Salinas.

Great customer service! Alexis is very polite and friendly! The rooms are kept clean. Love that it is dog friendly! The environment feels safe and family friendly.

They have excellent customer all the time when you stay. They offer protection at night time with a security guard. They are always polite and when you need something they are always able to help you out.

Room was decent. Sheets were scratchy, shower head was only flowing at half capacity as the plunger didn’t switch fully to shower mode so the other half was wasted into the tub. The tv remote had to be reprogrammed every time we tried to use it. The front staff and security guard were very friendly and responsive. The cleaning crew was also great. Good value when compared to the other local hotels that had vacancy during car week.

Either the owner or manager is super nice, the first room he gave us wasn't cleaned yet and so he got us another room and went to see why it hadn't been cleaned yet. He was quick to fix the issue and make sure we still got what we needed. Really nice rooms and I would stay here again if I ever come through Salinas again...

Pros: We have been favorably impressed with recent stays at Motel 6. This one was a good location, upgraded rooms with wood-like floors. Cons"We spoke with the manager the second morning that we didn't need the maid to come in...to make up bed, change towels etc. He wrote down 'no service' but she did come in. Motel 6 doesn't offer 'Privacy Please' cards for the door. Thought the floor could be cleaner..he was going to speak to head housekeeping. Good response from him

This was a busy Hotel and well laid out. The staff was extremely friendly and proactive. My only concern with the room was how dirty it was, how poorly it smelled (air conditioning unit and bathroom) and how many items there were in the room and bathroom that needed to be addressed. It's as if someone had started a remodel, but didn't finish it. The room desperately needed to be deep-cleaned in every aspect. Again, all of the staff were extremely courteous, respectful and professional. For what that hotel has to work with, I think they do a decent job.

My wife and I had spent the day driving up the coast and weren't sure about driving back home or not, but we didn't want to break the bank staying overnight in the Monterey Peninsula. We paid $118 (with tax), which was about as cheap as there was in this area. The room was simple, but clean. The staff was friendly. And the area was ultra-secure. They had a guard checking our parking pass when we came back from dinner and a Salinas PD patrol car passing through the lot the next morning. They even had a cute cat (named M6) roaming the grounds. So we were more than happy with our experience here. Thanks, Motel 6!

I had an accessible room, and it was a good size, and the bathroom was quite large, with a shower that would accommodate a wheelchair if necessary. There was plenty of handicapped parking right outside the doors, and a nice area to walk dogs right across from the parking area. Reception staff was very friendly. However, I was surprised to find no soap in the room the first night, and the maid hadn't replaced the towels that I had not rehung the second day, emptied only one of the wastebaskets, and didn't make my bed. Yes, I had straightened it well, but that's not the same thing. The staff replaced my soap and towel promptly when I went to the office, but I think that shouldn't have been necessary. My room was in front, in a row of accessible rooms, and the street noise was very loud. Probably wouldn't have been so loud if your room is in the back. Very convenient to gas stations, Starbucks, freeway, and Hwy 68 if you're going to Monterey. One thing lacking in the bathroom is someplace to put out makeup, toothbrush, etc., or a towel rack near the sink for a hand towel.

This motel was certainly not the most welcoming, and definitely not a comfortable place to stay and I would not recommend anyone staying here.. If I were coming through this part of town again and found myself needing to sleep, I would much rather sleep in my car.

The courtyard was overflowing with people partying loudly when I drove in to the parking lot around 9pm. Not the most welcoming group of individuals, and though I didn't feel at any point like I was in danger, but I was definitely given some unfriendly looks as I approached the office.

There were several women just casually hanging out next to the office; I'm not making any judgements here, but they did not appear to be guests of the motel.

Within a minute of walking into the office to check in, I was approached by a man who did not appear to be a guest and asked to contribute money to his organization.

The young lady at the front desk was fine, but it took a while for her to confirm my reservation.

The WiFi connected, but would often disconnect or stop working entirely.

The door to my room had a security latch that was loose and had clearly been broken before.

I heard people coming and going through most of the night, and I went to the window several times throughout the night to check on my car.

There were security cameras throughout the building, but despite this and the security guard, at no point did I feel very safe.

In the morning I made coffee using my camp stove--there was no coffee in the rooms, nor were there any toiletries save a tiny bar of soap-- and hit the road as soon as I could.

If this is the Motel 6 on 1635 Calle Joaquin, I enjoyed my stay here both times. Our room was clean and the staff was really great. I would definitely book another stay if I were to come back to visit California. Please give your staff the acknowledgment for their service and friendliness. They would be the reason I would come back and because Of the cleanliness.

This motel is in the rough part of town. Cops everywhere. There was
* no mini refrigerator in the room.
* No fan in the bathroom
* No low flow toilets
* No grip on the wall to get out of the tub
* the water drained too slow in the tub and the sink.
* The bed was said to be a Queen, but it was a Full instead.
* There was only night stand next to the bed instead of two.
* You could hear the neighbors talk through the walls.
The room was supposedly a non smoking room, but it smelled as if they sprayed freshener to mask the previous smoker.
Won't go there again unless it's remodelled.

I liked the convenience of the location, the room seemed clean and was comfortable. The bathtub didn't have a plug, so I had to improvise to take a bath, but other than that, the room was good. It was a noisy place - mostly other customers I think - maybe the rooms could have had better sound insulation. I very much appreciated the dog-friendliness of the place - lots of grass and and areas to walk (clean up bins placed for dog poo weren't stocked with bags, but I always have my own). I'll definitely stay there again when I'm in the area!

I had the office clerk give me her name on a piece of paper at the Kern st motel 6 in salinas I don't remember her name but I wanted to leave a complement about the office staff as a group they made me feel at home as you say at motel 6 "they left the light on for me" THANKS

Booking was available to do online which was convenient, check-in was extremely fast for how busy the attendants were! The room was not very clean, the ice bucket had dirt remnants all over it, and there were cigarette butts on the bathroom floor. Cleanliness definitely has room for improvement, hospitality was great though. The room was not worth the price.

Check was fast and the clerk was very friendly. The room itself was not up to par with what I have come to expect of motel 6. One of the beds was missing it's top cover and the blanket had a very visible cigarette burn on it. When we went to lock the deadbolt it was broken and would not engage. The top slide lock was working but had obviously been kicked in a few times and been replaced. I had to move the bed against the wall so my young child would not fall off in the night. In doing so I discovered a half eaten granola bar and other trash under the bed. The floor had not been swept very well or mopped at all. Me and my kids feet were very dirty with in minutes. The second day the cleaning service was much better but they threw away the plastic cups and did not replace them. Also the remote for the barely worked and the Wi-Fi that I paid for had very bad signal and kept disconnecting from any device I connected with.

Quick and friendly check in process. Everything in the room was in good shape and worked. (The TV remote battery cover was missing but the remote worked fine.)
Staff responded quickly to a request for extra towels.

I give three stars only because of the excellent service I received from the clerk at the front desk. I wish I had her name. Motel 6's are usually very good and could be rated at least a four if not a five. In all fairness, part of my issue is some of the clientele were somewhat unsavory and I know you can't control that. The neighborhood is a little seedy to begin with. My only other issue is the room service was somewhat inconsistent and one maid sort of coaxed me into not making her give the full room treatment as I was a multiple night guest. One day I found there were not any plastic cups and another day I was short a towel. These are not big things in themselves although they leave you with a nagging feeling things are not up to par.

One of the nicest Motel 6 properties we've stayed at! We travel frequently throughout the west and count on Motel 6 to keep us in budget. Unfortunately, we've discovered that each property has it's own standards, many of which are quite low. This property was lovely, clean, and well managed. The staff was prompt, pleasant and helpful.

I was very happy with this Motel 6. All of the beds are queen size, which is not the case at all Motel 6 motels. The staff at the front lobby were very pleasant, the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was nice and quiet inside and out. My one complaint is that they don't have cup lids for the free coffee in the front lobby, and I spilled the coffee while walking back to my room, and I would not be able to bring it with me in my car. Overall, though, you can't beat the price or the value!

I'm not one to complain, but over the past year I have stayed at the motel 6 in Santa Maria, Los Banos, Hayward and Salinas. Four times the heater in different motels the heaters have not been functioning--both those operated by thermostat and the under the window models. It seems to me, this cannot be a coincidence. Either the motels are skimping on maintenance or the heaters are disabled as a cost cutting measure.

Management and housekeepers were very pleasant and friendly. Rooms were clean. The location isn't too bad.

The same day I was to arrive I requested a room on the ground floor so I could move my equipment in there without walking up steps. So they gave me a handicapped room in the front. It was clean and plenty big enough. It was not noisy and everything worked. The wooden seat in the tub (for handicapped people) had screws that were coming out of the wall, but no big deal for me as I did not need it.

The place was quiet at 11:30pm when I arrived. I did not see any people. There was a security guard out front with a night stick. After I drove around back to park there was a Salinas police car also in the parking lot driving out. So it seems they are keeping an eye on this motel.

It was up to Motel 6 standards and was at a good price, and a great value for the money. I would go back.

House keeper needs to clean better, when we got there on Friday the floors were very dirty through out the room and bathroom and under beds! Bath tub had what looked like someone cleared their throat and spit it in tub, after our first night there we thought for sure housekeeping would clean, we were gone for the day and when we came back it was the same! The only thing done, was one bed was made and a few new towels added.

My stay here on a Sunday night went smoothly, checked in with no delay and went to my room which was nice and clean. No noise or anything to keep me awake, slept well.

I've stayed at a lot of motel 6 in my travels. This one is by far the cleanest. Rooms look totally renovated and great TV with all the desired channels. I want to give a personal shout out to Hermes on the evening shift. He was awesome! Give him a raise!!!

Easy to find front desk clerk was super friendly pleasant and helpful. The room was clean smelled clean and bed was nice and comfy. We had no disruptions of noise or neighbors. Only thing was that our parking spot got taken and we had to park a ways from our room. I would have liked it if each parking spot had the designated room marked on there. But other than that it was great.

Room A/C very efficient; ice machine worked. Quiet at night. Minor wear and tear in room. It would be much cleaner if they would wash down the bathroom walls periodically.

Room was nice, clean and beds great. Was noise from guests next door most of the night. The staff should have told them to be quiet.

Would be nice if the room included breakfast of some kind and Tea for those of us that don't drink coffee.

The staff was very welcoming and courteous. The manager checked the room prior to us receiving the key. We stayed at 4 different locations and this was the ONLY Motel 6 that did not smell like tobacco. It was very clean and even the sheets and pillows smelled clean. We will definitely stay her again during our travels.

We were surprised to find that none of the motel 6's in the area were offering their usual rates (under $100/night), so we were already disappointed to be paying $149 for a very basic room. However when we arrived, we were even further disappointed to find that the non smoking room we had booked smelled very strongly of cigarettes. There were no other rooms available so the manager offered to take $30 off of our bill to help compensate for the smell. However, when we went to leave the room to go back down to our car, the door would not open. We were locked inside. There was no way out of our room, and, apparently, it would have worked for any key to get in. The manager had to call the locksmith and have a security guard come and guard our things while the door was being fixed. Thankfully, the manager decided to comp our room altogether. This would have been a horrifying experience were it not for the way he handled things. Thankfully, we were all able to laugh about it. I would have given out experience one star, if not for the manager on duty who honestly did the best he could with a pretty rotten situation.

I stayed at the same Motel 6 last year, and I am mostly satisfied. Last year the mat in the bath was not changed during the 4 days. This year the bath towel was not changed. The same towel that was used on the first day was the same that was there on the last day. It had a small identifying stain. That by itself would not be a problem, but it showed that the towel had not been changed. What concerned me more, was that this may not have been a clean towel to begin with. It may have been used by the previous occupant. Sorry, IF I stay at Motel 6 again, I'll bring my own towels.

It wasn't that Bad! I had a clean quiet stay. The Ice machine worked and when checking in they were polite. I believe I got my money's worth. It's not the Hampton Inn it's motel 6 I believe too many reviews are just people not thankful for even a little . Thank you motel 6 for the rest I got ;)

I've stayed in a lot of motel 6 locations. Very basic but usually clean and reliable. This was not. Checked in and had no pillowcases... and there was blood on a pillow. Also no toilet paper and no shower curtain. Office said they would bring them up. After an hour I went down to get them.

Our 5th time there. Convenient stop on way to daughter's in Santa Rosa. At first very satisfied. Recently disappointed. Requested downstairs via website reservation with notes. Did not happen. Only upstairs avail when we arrived 8pm. Hairs in bathtub. Yuk! ....and no hairdryer avail at office. Evening staff complacent. Morning staff very professional.

The room itself was clean and decent. There was no coffee maker, fridge or microwave, very disappointing to not find this room feature which has become quite common even in lower priced hotels. Your rates were a bit high considering the lack of these very common room features. You need more than 1 ice and vending area. Having the truck parking was nice. And a really good restaurant just down the block is beneficial.

This is the third time I have stayed at this Motel 6. The newly remodeled room was great but I do have two issues. Firstly, we were on the second floor and the stairs up could definitely be improved. On separate occasions both myself and my wife stumbled on the somewhat worn steps. Luckily, the result was just a bit of lost skin and bruising. Please, sort the sketchy steps.
The second issue was very noisy pipework. At 11:50 pm the room either above or next door took a shower. The horrendous noise that went on whilst the shower was running woke us both up. Not good. Fix your plumbing.
Other than that, the room was clean and the location good. Fix those 2 problem areas and you will move much closer to 5 stars.

WE stay at Motel 6 all the time. We feel it provides the best value for money. Also, we travel a lot with our pets and we wouldn't stay at any other Motel than the Pet Friendly Motel 6.

I felt safe and secure. Super clean and great parking. Security was very helpful.

I've stayed in Motel 6 for ages, but one thing for sure they had gotten better each time of stayed. Excellent service front desk, housekeeping etc. I'll definitely be spending more time with you as needed. Prices are reasonable.

Weather at Motel 6 in Salinas California they got lovely clean friendly staff that will answer all your questions at 6 o'clock in the morning I have a coffee the room to clean their nice and if you need assistance or anything they will surely answer all your questions and if you have a maintenance problem they will come in and fix it for you

Didn't expect much when staying in a budget motel. There are areas for improvement however.
No water boiler or microwave in the room which is a bit inconvenient for residents. Could add one or two for communal use.

I could hear what the guys next store were talking about. They were a bit loud of course but I was more uncomfortable with the pet dog they brought.
If possible please keep those with pets together.

The employee's were wonderful at the front desk. Speedy check in with no problems. The room was clean and comfortable. After a few hours in the room the simulated hardwood floors had a large puddle of water. at first we thought maybe our ice chest was leaking so we moved it to the bathroom. we went out to dinner and came back to puddles on the floor again right in front of the heater/air conditioner mounted under the front window. we used towels to keep the floor dry. I reported this on the comment card left in the room. other than this water problem our stay at your motel was great.

My family stopped in Salinas for a place to stay (had reservations at Motel 6, rm 258). When we were checking in, the required us to provide our IDs for them to scan. Honestly we thought it was sketch, and we were uneasy about giving our government licensed IDs. Apparently it was to prevent theft and it was their normal policy. Their wi-fi plans are 2.99 and 4.99. I don't know why anyone would pay for that when 4G data worked tons better. Well we did get the 4.99 plan. The wi-fi was extremely unreliable: maxed at 3 bars and kept signing out. We got a refund though. Tv was good, we just watched oldies (Fresh Prince of Bel Air). There were no tissues or paper towels, and the top sheets looked burnt here and there. No bed bugs or broken furniture.

Overall, it was not a good experience. First of all, they asked each of my family members for our ID's at check in, which we all thought was strange because we've never been asked to do so before. They said it was policy because of recent break-ins. Our non-smoking room had an overwhelming smell of smoke right as we stepped inside. They charged $4.99 for WiFi that hardly worked, but they willingly refunded us for this. The bathrooms weren't the cleanest. No fridge or microwave. However, there was a TV with a number of options to watch. We will not be sleeping here again, but it was a functional place to rest our heads as we were passing by for travel.

Locations are fine easy to see from the HWY. Rooms are not worth the price being paid. Most office staff are great. Although I did have something stolen from my room one time at one of the Motels 6's. Housekeepers are great though I think there is more to do than can be handled with the current staff. Rooms are cleaned but not detailed. They could use someone to just do detail in the rooms. Towels are hardly ready when needed due to theft.

Decent rooms. Clean and spacious. Bathrooms are a bit small. TV and beds are nice. No breakfast or coffee in rooms. WiFi costs $3/$4 per day.

Nice, clean, friendly, welcoming. The staff was helpful when needed. A good value in the area. Conveniently located and close to attractions. Internet is a bit slow, but overall a good place to stay. We will be staying here on our next trip to the area.

The desk clerks should be more courteous and trained better. My husband and I checked in earlier than our daughter and son-in-law. We paid for both rooms and were told that they only needed to pick up their key cards and show their ID's when they arrived. When they came to pick up their room key they were charged for the first night on their card. Their rooms were already paid for by me, so they attempted to double charge for the first night. Finally, the clerk had to call to have the charge reversed from our daughter's card (we hope that happened). During this process, she never spoke to us to tell us what she was doing so our stress level rose. Also, she never apologized for her mistake. I have reserved rooms at Motel 6 several times and have not had a problem in the past. I will think twice about reserving again.

Great experience, In a town where everything was booked they had rooms and they did not gouge like their neighbors. Rooms were very clean and they had floors. When you walked on floors your feet were clean. All the staff members where really friendly and easy to speak to if we needed towels or soap etc. They have shampoo and stuff in vending machines if you forgot it. Allot of restaurants within walking distance for coffee BUT they do have coffee in the lobby. We stayed 17 miles away from our destination and saved over $200 dollars a night.
