Took two individuals on two different phone calls to get a room, followed by a third individual who couldn’t find me in the system for five minutes.

Upon ordering the room, no email was given, had to request.

Once I checked in, I’d had to ask several different people, several different times to obtain the amenities offered. Believe it or not, not one person I talked to mentioned a pool.

I completely understand people may have bad days, but this review was published over 5 days with more than 10 different individuals...so there’s either a trend of bad management or bad service all around.

Furthermore, do not eat at the restaurant. $15 for any food that is worse than a decently established restaurant for $6 or $7 is horrible.

I’ve heard good things about this place, but in my experience, I would strongly disagree and discourage anyone staying here as a first choice.

I will say the room is a little outdated with pop corn ceilings. But what the hotel lacks aesthetically the staff make up for 200% As a vegetarian I didn't see much on the menu aside from the black bean betty burger. As a vegetarian I hate only having a veggie burger option. So I called down to the lounge and spoke with Heather who took the time to speak with the chef and inform me the Chef would create a special dish for me!!! Talk about going above and beyond! The food is amazing! The staff are more than accommodating to their customers needs. Heather even made a point to check in on me as I dined. Heather, the chef, and my lovely waitress have made my stay amazing and the reason I give 5 stars!!

The accommodations were pretty nice. It's a great location that is Central to all the main Jeff City attractions. The restaurant in the downstairs area was very accommodating to my daughter's gluten free and dairy free dietary requirements. They have a decent little pool. They also have a parking garage, but it has a low clearance. Oh and also there is a bar in the lobby. Unfortunately it's only open at night so no beer for breakfast.

Definitely has the feel of an older hotel, our room had skittles on the floor, the ice bucket was used (and we didn't get a new one after asking), the pillows are awful, had to request 4 more just for the 2 of us so we could be comfortable, the buffet food is a joke, avoid at all costs if your event has one, the room service was very good and just affordable enough to keep you there. The pricing was on point because we had event pricing, normal pricing would be too steep for the quality. There's a pokestop there so that was a bonus. If the event wasn't hosted there we would have found other accommodations probably.

Rooms were clean and nice has good amenities. The hotel on interior could use some upgrades. They have a nice fountain but it doesn't work I'm assuming. I've been there twice and it has not been on.

This hotel get 4 stars on the review cause it survived the Great flood of 93 (google It) lol, but it's 3 stars at it's best for sure. It's one of the main hotels in town that most stay at and the room rates are good. There are better hotels a few miles away, but this one is right off the highway.

It's big, old, got updated with kind of out of date stuff but people still stay here. They host Shelby Fest every year in there parking lot which is Great! It's a good place to stay, but if you want a better place you can find one.

This was the least expensive hotel we stayed at during our one week vacation, over four different states and it was easily the NICEST, CLEANEST, and the BEST STAFF. My only suggestion is a better way to get inside without all the stairs in front. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you for not having one trace of mold in the bathroom!

It's fantastic. The food is great and the rooms are exquisite.

Edit a year later: Shame I have to do this. The food is great and the rooms are nice, but the staff has zero control and handle on Con-goers despite complaints. The serving staff at the cafes are nice, but they do little to nothing for disruptive people.
Not only that, but they have little contact when someone makes a phone call and asks to speak to the Con's staff.

Had moments in past of good and bad.
It is a yearly thing for us to stay there with one of the organizations we are with.
Price i understand.... but makes it hard to visit more often, and would love to stay more often.
Was a great stay this time.

It's an older hotel with some updating. The beds are decent, but the breakfast bar isn't worth the higher price charged. However, it is right there and within walking distance to the capitiol. They were also very accommodating to my special needs daughter.

I recently got married at Capitol Plaza and hosted my reception there as well. The staff was amazing, the food was great and everyone was so helpful and nice during the whole experience. I also want to give a shoutout to Denise, director of event sales, for helping put everything together she is exceptional! Recommend 100%.

The fanciest hotel in 1974. The most outdated hotel in 2018. It's just nice enough to keep you from finding a new hotel. The room service/ food isn't good. The employees are nice enough. Really needs to step into this millennia.

Needs a little updating, but good for the price. Went to a convention, place was full. Good food at lunchtime, but didn't eat there otherwise. 9 floors with multiple room set ups.

7

Very nice hotel with a stunning atrium and glass elevators. You certainly feel like you are walking into a high class establishment, but then you get to the rooms and while they are nice, they are dated. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay here. The in house restaurant and lounge were fantastic since I was stuck at the hotel for a two day conference. A bit of advice, during peak times, opt for the buffet at the restaurant. The wait staff is poor to non-existent when they get busy and you're lucky to even get your food and drink.

This is an older hotel, and it shows. There was a musty odor that I have found to be normal in hotels that once allowed smoking. Everything was reasonably clean, but there were two light fixtures in the room that didn't function, and the television did not initially respond to the remote.
During my stay, the hotel was hosting some sort of high school model state government competition, and the kids were up until close to midnight in the main atrium of the hotel. Because of the design, even though my room was on the top floor, the noise echoed up to my room, making sleep a bit difficult.
It isn't a bad hotel, but the price point is such that I will be looking at different lodging options in the future.

The staff is what makes it. We checked in, headed to the room and then the lounge. Lounge attendant/bartender was very attentive (I wish I knew her name) and the food came out fast and hot. Win, win.

Yes, the hotel is a bit in need of a refresh, however it is quiet for being so large. Check out was a breeze - the BEST part? The breakfast buffet! I've stayed in much pricier digs who don't do as good a job as these folks.

Thank you Capital Plaza - next time we come through we'll pick you!

Nice facility, with a very pretty layout. I liked the way all the rooms look into the central meeting area, and the several story waterfall is pretty special. It's one of the better hotels for a stay in Jefferson City.

The lobby had that musty hotel smell. I assume it has to do with the multi floor fountain. We were there for a social event. The food wasn't too bad. Have no idea what the rooms look like but the ball room was pretty nice.

Well its a pretty good place to stay when driving through Jefferson city, or if your in town for an event for work. This s an older hotel but still up to date with the times. This is also located right where you want to be in town. Its a very short drive form food and downtown area.

There is not to much to say about this place. Its nothing special or fancy. There are other hotels in town that are nicer but cost more. Check for prices when booking. I would stay here if needed. Nice clean quality hotel.

Great staff. Beautiful inside and out. Parking garages, beautiful view of indoor waterfall. Has nice rooms decent beds and a indoor pool. The bar was relaxing and the food court had GreAt food but prices was a little steep. Close to capital and all and all enjoyed my stay...

7

The location is close to downtown Jefferson City, the Capitol is within walking distance. The staff are friendly, the food is decent, but I gave 4 stars because of the hygiene of the rooms. I've found dead bugs in areas that should have been cleaned prior to my stay, and have also been given a room with soiled sheets. Overall however the hotel is one of the best.

Depending on why you stay at this location will depend on how you rate it. I would not consider this a totally family friendly hotel. The pool is very small for the size of the hotel. The fountain is fun. The hotel is perfect if you are here on business.

I was at the hotel visiting a guest there, so I didn't have the whole overnight experience. Having said that, the hotel is located right off of one of the two main highways running through town (and not far from the second), but you couldn't tell that from inside the building. It has quite a bit of parking, both outside and underground (the underground can flood in the wrong conditions, there are signs of warning). There is an indoor pool, but the chlorine level seemed a tad high. It also has a cocktail bar and a restaurant there. However, I didn't visit either. Overall the room was nicely furnished and clean (the guests staying there did mention the a/c didn't cool the room very effectively, but could've just been that particular room). I could see myself staying there if I was traveling.

We were there with the Missouri Choral Directors Association Summer Honor Choir, and the experience we had was really amazing. The staff, the amount of rooms given to accommodate the families and singers was outstanding. The atrium was besutiful, and clean. There were plenty of parking spaces to accommodate everyone. Let's just say, there were in just one choir 149 kids, do you can get the idea of how many people were there. There were many other choirs present for this event. I'm looking forward to going again next year!

Not enough parking for the conference we were attending. The interior of the hotel is extremely hot and humid. We attended in mid July. We had 3 rooms and 2 of them had their air turned off when we arrived. One had the heat turned on. We had king suites. The king suites did not have a refridgerator or microwave as stated on the hotel website. When we asked for pillows for the pullout sofas they had none. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Plenty of room to get ready in the king suites.

I recently stayed here during state honor choir in July, just as we did for state honor choir last year. The lobby is miserably hot!!! Drinks available to purchase were hot. Rooms were hot (never cooled below 73). Couldn't get the old water to ever get cold in the room, but couldn't get really hot water either.

Attended a dinner in one of the ballrooms. It was very nice and the servers were really quite and nice. I always hate when the servers clank all the dishes and you can't hear the speaker...but that didn't happen there and they seemed very pleasant.

I attended the conference for Missouri government technology. The weight staff were very friendly and helpful. The lunch served from the kitchen at the conference was very tasty. The hotel with its very large indoor atrium was attractive and clean and well kept. Would definitely go for a conference or schedule a conference of my own there.

When I first booked I neglected to click the tiny red information icon next to the " book now and save" rate..or as most of us don't read the " Terms and Conditions" ..there was ( at the time) no warning that this is a PREPAY IN FULL , charged to your credit card IMMEDIATELY, and NO REFUNDS, CANCELLATIONS OR MODIFICATIONS.
I have never seen such a policy before on a hotel website, so complained loudly.I purposely avoid the travelocity and bundlers because they do this. ( I routinely use my personal CC just to hold reservations..and switch to my business card on check in)
I was very pleased with how they resolved the issue, they allowed me to change to my business card and will update their website to make their " Book now and Save" policy clear online.
Kudos to their professionalism in analyzing the problem and not sticking to the legalese " you checked terms and conditions" .

The hotel was very pretty and clean. I went there for an event and had lunch. I thought the chicken was dry and it didn't have much of a taste. But the service was professional. I'd recommend it for a place to go but not for a meal.

The facility overall is a good conference facility. My accommodations however needed to be better maintained. My room n upon initial visual inspection looked great. Dig deeper however and you uncover unpleasant problems that should not be occurring. The bedding was worn and beginning to deteriorate. The mattress had spotting on the seams that is consistent with the fecal spotting that occurs with the presence of bed bugs this spotting is often found along the seams of mattresses. There were no mattress/box spring encasements to protect them against bed bug infestation. The mattress itself had been flipped due to a severe stain. The box spring was torn. The chair in the room had not been vacuumed under the cushion and there was no chair for the desk. The room was also located off of a hallway that was next to a utility room near the ice machine. I would not have found the room were it not for deducing that it must be around the corner. No signage pointed the way to it. Overall I would gladly come to a meeting or conference here but I would never return for an overnight stay here.

Capital may be an older building but it is well maintained and great for a convention. My only true complaint is that there are only 2 small elevators for a 8 floor building. Makes wait times very long to get places and stairs are not an option when older or disabled.

The lobby is very nice, but the rooms are very outdated. The TV is very outdated, and the "guide" for the TV was completely wrong. The room was not very clean. The beds are very uncomfortable. Also, do not get the breakfast, which is overpriced. The staff was okay, not friendly but not rude. I will stay at the DoubleTree next time.

When you first walk in it's a striking hotel. Attractive and open in the commons area. But the rooms are small and dated when compared with other hotels. Rooms would benefit from a remodel.
I checked out the fitness center and its small but standard for a hotel. Not bad but average and acceptable.
I was told the breakfast wasn't complementary and that was an annoyance to me. The lounge is nice but $5 tap beer wasn't a turn on. Didn't bother having any Cocktails.
The TV didn't work when I got into the room but after calling the desk, one of the staff resolved the issue in minutes. Also annoying was that a refrigerator and microwave didn't come standard but were up charges. I wasn't in dire need of one but it's nice to have, especially in an extended stay.
Overall, though, it's a nice place and things were clean. I'd stay here again but until an update is made it falls behind other big hotels.

My suite was spacious and clean. Did not really have time to enjoy the room. The desk/table in the front room did not have an outlet convenient to power my laptop. The furniture and room is dated. I had the Raspberry talapia salad for dinner. It was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. More than likely I will stay here if I stay in Jefferson City.

This hotel has knowledgeable and friendly staff who were attentive to our needs while hosting a business event. They knew who we were upon arrival and had our conference rooms set up as requested upon scheduling our event. The hotel could use some updating, but it's in good shape in general. The rooms do not have refridgerators in them.

The rooms are not what you expect with the high rates they charge. The bathroom amenities are of poor quality. The AC/Heater systems are old. The hotel needs major renovations to demand a high room charge of $160. The King size bed was not a comfortable as you think. The one positive is the staff were good and friendly.

We stayed a week in room 728. The Hotel room had a burnt hair smell the entire time we stayed. We tried spraying air freshener we bought which would help. but the smell would come back. The staff did give us a fridge and microwave which was nice. The pool had big globs of hair and used bandaids on the floor. For the most part it was a good hotel just needs a little more attention to upkeep. Also it says pet friendly but you have to pay 25. A night per pet which we did not see listed anywhere on the website.
