This property is "Top Shelf" for HI Express Properties and IHG as a whole.
The staff was polite and approachable.
The exterior of the property was well kept, and clean.
The room was well appointed, and I desk arrangement was excellent for my to complete my work each evening.
The entrance was a bit confusing to me at first, but once in, not an issue!

I appreciated the "Manager Reception" as well - Great treat at the end of a day!

I will certainly use the property again when in the area.

Rooms were clean and well kept. My kids loved the water park. There are two parts to the water park a portion most appropriate for kids 5 and under that is about 1ft deep and another portion that includes slide and pool. You need to be 48" tall to use slide and there is an option for double tubes. The slide runs the first 30 minutes of every hour and then is closed so people can enjoy the pool that the slide discharges into.

Attended a wedding reception here last weekend. Very friendly staff. Food was good. Drinks were strong. Only thing was the staff was talking in normal tones (didn't appear to be trying to be quiet) in the bar area during the speeches, which did carry over to the guest tables.

This hotel is undergoing a new face lift. The hallways are a complete mess. Notifying a potential guest at check in would have been appropriate, but did not happen. Also, providing a discount at check in, if not for merely the inconvenience of the plaster all over the hallway carpet and the industrial fans going in the hallways, but none was offered.
I expect more from this chain.

Would have given a higher rating if the hot tub wasn't broken for the entire week that we stayed. We were told on our first day that the hot tub was being fixed the next day and it never happened. The beds aren't uncomfortable, but I am 35 weeks pregnant and had a hard time getting onto the beds because they are up so high. Also, our children wanted apple juice at breakfast and the machine was out of order all week, only orange juice was available. Will explore other options next time we are in the area.

The hotel was clean and nice looking. The beds were large and comfortable, a nice setup for a work area, as well as a decent-sized bathroom.

Nice stop on our way across 3 states. Kids really enjoyed the glorified pool area. The staff was courteous and kind.

Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Room was clean and breakfast was great. The WiFi was also good as well.

We arrived exactly at the check in time according to the confirmation message but was told our room wouldn't be ready for 45 minutes. We had a limited amount of time to get ready for a wedding so this was stressful. Was told their check in time was an hour later than what we were told. They need to communicate this problem when reservation made.

Great service, friendly and nice. Room was clean. Only one issue with something on a towel and they replaced it easily. Breakfast wasn't horrible, but the eggs could use some improvement. Otherwise it was a decent stay.

Is ok ...close to many decent restaurants ...onsite food is average or less ...go out to eat. ....wish they would put up some kind of screens around the large lounge area ...nobody wants to watch people in their switch.suits walk to and from the pool to elevator while you are having a drink ....or provide robes in the rooms!

Only thing exceptional here is their fantastic in-door water park! Well.. that is if you're staying on the weekend. If during the week, you're out of luck - only the little pool is available. Sigh. Was disappointed.

Was looking for hotels to do a bit of a staycation that had a nice pool area for the kids called this holiday inn to see what rooms cost and was pleasantly surprised to hear that you didn't have to pay for a room to use the water park you could get a day pass for 5.00 a person free under 2. I was worried about not having a place to easily change in and out of swimsuits but they have bathrooms right in the pool area. They only run the big waterslide Friday through Sunday but everything else they had hot tub and kid play area and adult pool made up for it. Also everything was very clean and well kept.

Room was clean, breakfast good, and a pool/hot tub.

Pretty standard Holiday Inn Express, small water park is a plus although they only run the water slide every 30 minutes it's cold out

Large room at a great price. Good beds and the usual standard of breakfast at Holiday Inns.

The room was clean, the breakfast was decent, and the pool was nice. It has 1 big tube slide, but was only open certain times, a hot tub and a water playground. The temperature seemed to vary widely in the pool and hot tub, and the chlorine in the air was very strong.

Lots of amenities! Comfortable and quiet rooms. Carpet was a little gross on bare feet tho.

Comfortable beds and great breakfast buffet! Only a couple if down falls. The bathtub drained so slow that it filled with water as you showered..yuk! Also the entire toilet rocked as if the bolts were not tightened down.

Good but bad location! There's absolutely nothing nearby so need to travel alot to get something.

Stayed at this hotel one night on our way through South Dakota, it was by far the worst experience at a Holiday Inn Express that I have had. The exterior and lobby of the hotel are nice but that is where it stopped. We got to our room and were instantly disappointed. The first thing we noticed was the stained carpet and the walls that had stains from something dripping down them. All of the furniture was chipped and looked like it was ready to fall apart. The shower curtain rod was also ready to fall off the wall. The lights in the hallway were packed with dead bugs as well. I did bring this all to the attention of the front desk upon checkout and the lady was nice about it. They gave us an extra 1,000 reward points for the inconvenience. We will not be staying here again.

Attended a wedding reception. Have no input on rooms, pool, or staff. The reception staff was wonderful.

Great little place for the kids to have fun. Slide could be open longer than 30 minutes at a time but was still fun, even for a big kid like me.

Staff was friendly. Rooms nice and clean. Water park was small but nice for the kids. Nice complementary breakfast.

Vacation traveling in S.D. . Overnight stay while traveling on Interstate 90. Very clean room with a small pool/Waterpark area that is nice for the kids. Good local restaurants located very close to hotel. Recommended

The hotel was great. They had a huge pool with a water slide!! The staff was very friendly and they even had a free breakfast.

They had a very nice social event room. Everything was clean and the catering was great. Every worker was nice and professional.

We had a great stay. Would give it 5 stars but the kids water park did not seem fully functional. They had also painted the kids slide that day so there was a strong smell of paint. Will stay here again.

I went to the Holiday Inn Express for a wedding reception. The location was awesome right next to the interstate period the accommodations were awesome for 300 people and the food was delicious

Nice clean rooms.....nice pool, closes way too early. Great stay until I caught the front desk night lady walking down the hall listening to doors......very creepy.

Was a great experience. The pool is fun but the water is freezing otherwise the room was nice and I enjoyed my stay.

We came from Sioux Falls for the pool / birthday party. It was a great overnight stay. I would have put 5 stars but the kiddy pool water spray went out of order during the night we were there.

Hardy Room is a spacious space for hosting business events and gatherings. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Very clean and nice rooms. The pool area layout was the best I have ever seen.

My family and I had so much fun! The pool area was awesome! Didn't have to worry about slipping or sliding while trying to walk to the table and chairs. Clerks were so helpful and courteous! Would come again..Only concern were the beds..A little to high!!!!

Great modern hotel, nice staff, and it's awesome that it's pet-friendly! There's also a nice grassy area right off the parking lot to take your dog outside. The rooms were clean, beds comfy, and bathrooms spacious. The pool area is large with a fun waterslide and kiddy area. They even sent in a lifeguard when a bunch of kids (us "adults" included) seemed interested in going down the slide in the evening.

We have stayed here twice. Both times for the sturgis rally. 1st time was great. They let us (all bikers)park our bike under the overhang when it rained the 2nd time they were not accommodating to bikes or bikers at all, keep in mind 95% of their guests were there for the rally. We won't stay again.

Rooms are clean and showers are nice and hot. The staff are courteous, breakfast has several hot and cold options including a pancake machine, the beds are comfy and feel like new. The water park is great for little kids and the slide is fun for kids and grown ups. I liked playing basketball in the pool. The fitness room is a little cramped but at least its there and you can change the channel on the tv in there. There's a nice fireplace in the breakfast area and a patio you can eat in when its warmer.

Stayed as a guest for a wedding reception. Rooms where clean and comfortable. Pool was amazing. Great place to take kids to. Great restaurants near by.

We won't stay here again! Customer service was poor and slide hours are very limited. If you don't mind that, the rooms are nice.

If you're choosing your hotel based on the pool and water slide, (like a lot of parents do) this place will dissapoint you. The pool pictures are very nice but the slide is closed most of the day and intermittently open morning and evening. The pool hours are not the slide hours. We were very disappointed.

We are HIG members and this is the first bad experience we have. We checked in at 10:30 pm on 8/10/16, and were not greeted. When the lady finally appeared she did not greet me; I had to start the conversation. She was rude and not very helpful. She was bothered by a couple of questions we asked, and did not answer what we asked. Really sad contrast with the courteous staff at Holiday Inn Express, Spearfish SD, where we started our vacation.

UPDATE: We spoke with the hotel manager who was very kind. She apologized for the poor check-in experience. She explained the reason for their slide hours and said she would follow up with Marketing to see why this is not clearly stated (at least on their mobile site). They offerred us a discount to apologize.

Not greeted right away when checking in, no directions to room, pool not opened on time, can't actually swim unless the slide is off. Breakfast okay, room okay. Not impressed.

Wonderful experience after a long day on the road- friendly and helpful staff, squeaky clean room, clean pool area with a kids splash park that was very fun for our toddler. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options. Would definitely return for another stay!

Guest service only ok.. was not greeted when arrived..only after guest prior to me was checked in and conversation with guests returning from dinner.. quite a disappointment.. however, I did need some first aide and the young lady who helped me was wonderful...
Room was great.. bed a little high to get in..

FABULOUS experience at this hotel. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, the breakfast is delish, and the water park is FUN. My children and I traveled with my husband for a two week stay at this hotel, and had a wonderful time.

The staff was great and the kids loved the breakfast buffet. only complaints would be the kiddie pool area was freezing cold, and the family room has no separation from the sleeping area.

After a week of CRAZY winter weather and a lot of unknowns my daughter's wedding reception was WONDERFUL at the Holiday Inn Express in Brandon SD on April 10 2013. McKenzie, the Holiday Inn express wedding coordinator was amazing from the beginning planning stages up through the end of the reception. She coordinates very well with the DJ, photo booth, florist etc. My husband decided since it was an evening wedding to allow guests to eat when they arrived and it worked wonderful. The pasta bar was amazing which included a gluten free option. The food and beverage wait staff do an amazing job. Our rooms were wonderful and the breakfast our guest received was very good. I would highly recommend Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites for your reception needs.
