I have been staying here for the last week. I am really enjoying the hotel. The room is clean and nice. The pool was enjoyable. The hot tub was nice and hot. I haven't been able to get breakfast, but my daughter has enjoyed the pancakes. Thanks!

The entire experience at this Holiday Inn from beginning to end was a pleasure! The premises were well maintained, and the rooms were exactly what we needed! Will definitely be staying here again.

Clean rooms, moderately comfortable beds and friendly staff, but walking distance to the beach sold us. We will be returning.

The staff was friendly and helpfull. The breakfast was standard but clean and nice with a very nice attendant. The rooms were clean with nice beds. My issue with the room was the heat. The ac unit had a governer on it that would not allow the room temperature to be set lower than 68°. Since the hotel is near the water the humidity and heat made the un air conditioned room impossible to sleep in.

Our room.was ready about noon. Which was good as we had been up the entire night before. The staff was accommodating and the nap we had this after noon was very restful. The bed we like the room was. Lean and comfortable.

The front desk service was very friendly and helpful, but the overall hotel environment felt outdated and kind of dirty. My curtains couldn't close, the bathtub didn't drain properly, and the bathroom lights are placed awkwardly behind the door that wouldn't stay open and required a door stop. The breakfast was so-so. Everything was just okay.

If you want to explore the coastal region north of San Diego, this HIE is well situated in the sleepy town of Solana Beach right on the PCH. In light to moderate traffic it's approximately 30 mins to downtown San Diego via I-5 South. Although rates vary throughout the year, this is the second time I've stayed here (16 months apart) for $117 per night which includes breakfast. For this price you get a clean room and comfortable bed. Wall outlets are accessible, but there are no USB charging ports and the TVs are on the small side. There is a small fitness center and an outdoor pool. There is plenty of parking.

Four and a half stars. Ok facility and a nice location. Great staff. In my room the TV power cycled when the fridge came on or off. Nice selection of TV channels and internet was fast

Fun location near allot of cute shops , good dinning and took a walk on the beach two blocks away. Also party if you like concerts and drinking. Staff was great. friendly staff nice rooms, not super high quality beds or sheets, but clean. But the location is awesome . good price when we stayed.

Rooms are clean, but first time I stayed here my room smelled like wet dog. Second time, I had room 201 and realized my second day in that everyone could see directly into my room at night from the front of the hotel, even with curtains closed. There is no way to close the blackout curtains in any of the rooms, only the translucent white sheer curtains. If you can live with that though, it's really close to the beach, you get a nice free breakfast, and the staff is really nice.

A very nice Holiday Inn Express. Recently renovated. Superb location across from the train station, the fairgrounds, the horse shows.

It smelled like smoke and looked pretty dingy for a nice area. Fees were really high too so the cheap rate quickly became much more expensive. I would not stay here again

Wonderful staff and a very well thought out wheelchair accessible room. I loved the roll in shower and the power plugs are the base of all the table lamps which made it possible for me to plug in my electric wheelchair's charger without needing help. Delicious free breakfast in the morning also! You have to experience the self contained pancake maker for yourself! I had 3 just because it was hilarious.

Great hotel great staff

Walking two or so Blocks form two beach entrances, one was to the dog friendly one in Del Mar. This place is extra clean they steamed cleaned the carpets every day and the breakfast was free. And it was edible! Fruit, eggs, fresh coffee, bagels sausage turkey and pork, biscuits, muffins, and a pancake machine.

Rooms were clean. Garage was close and easily accessible. Also theres a short walk path to the beach. Nice and quiet hotel.

Exercise equipment should be better maintained and room better supplied. The air conditioner in the hotel room makes the person sleeping next to it way to cold if you are going to adequately cool other sleepers.

The staff was the kindest ever. Thank you. This hotel was clean and comfortable also.

Conveniently located near the beach, good breakfast included, nice customer service. Plumbing not great, but it's fine for short stays.

Updated rooms that are generally clean. Had an old toilet seat with flaking finish and low water pressure. But for the location and price point I definitely recommend this hotel

The parking was a littke crazy to get around in. The lobby and public areas wer vety tidy. The pool was not very large but it was adequate for the event. The staff member was courteous and helpful qith a card error.

Checked in pretty late the night I arrived but was greeted with a friendly person at the check in always a good start to a hotel stay. The rooms were very clean and organized, the only fault I found was that the carpets in the hallways were a little dirty and showed. The breakfast and staff were way above par for a budget Inn. The staff working the breakfast area were very attentive of all the guests and kept coming around asking if we needed anything and even offered to pick up our plates. The location of this place is pretty good for exploring different points in this area. Beach is a brisk walk a few minutes away and right across the bridge is a somewhat hidden Design District that was very impressive. If I were to stay in this area again I would definitely not hesitate to stay here again.

Went there to pick up a colleague. Place looks nice, staff is friendly location is great. I'll likely book there next time I am in town.

Loved this place, it's a great location, people are friendly and the rooftop bar is to die for. We visited this place back in December, when the temperature was in the negatives, yet, we still had a blast thanks to the staff. They gave us amazing recommendations on what to do and even called a cab for us. The only thing they are missing is a fridge, only because it's always nice to bring some beers back to the hotel after a long tour in Solana Beach. Other than that, loved it!

I can't say enough about the hotel and the staff here. Paul Philby has been truly exceptional. I travel for a living and where I stay is paramount to my career. I showed up a day early, no big deal. Need more water? Here you go. Need a good restaurant recommendation, no problem friend, here you go. For someone who travels a lot, this is ideal. The hotel is clean, all staff have been very friendly. The hotel is just steps away from an amazing beach and within a block or two of great food choices. I will stay here every time I am in SD from now on. Great job Paul, thank you for making my week better.

Update: I stayed again and had a good experience. Room was nice enough, no loud people, and it's always nice to have free breakfast (though the eggs tasted like rubber this time).

Every time I've stayed I've had a good experience. Friendly, great location (bars, beach, Belly Up, food) and it's not too far from downtown. Traffic can be bad, but I've seen worse. Every stay I've had before was great, no complaints. This trip though had loud people, no shampoo, the bathroom was gross, toilet kept clogging and they didn't have a plunger. It's a shame. I've enjoyed every stay before.
