The Intercontinental San Juan is an amazing Hotel.
The rooms were clean and smelled really nice. The hotel staff were great and helped when i needed assistance. Direct pool to beach access and their is also food accessible to the customers staying at the hotel. This hotel has a wonderful gift shop that i was able to get my family members souvenirs. I cannot wait to come back here.

I visited this hotel in early august for my boyfriends birthday. We stayed in the king room with an Atlantic Ocean view. The view was amazing. The staff was amazing! The hotel is still being renovated BUT our room was pretty decent. No complaints at all. The hotel has a Ruth Chris steakhouse on site but the food was not so great neither was the tall male server. I do recommend going to PR despite the rumors they have done a really good job getting everything back up and running.

Excellent service. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Rooms aren't huge but very clean. Huge pool and very resort like vibe with live music and 2 bars. Big hot tub. Very reasonable priced spa service. I'm very pleased with my stay.

I can't say enough good things about the InterContinental San Juan! We were greeted with a smile by Will at the door to take our bags to our room, his energetic personality always made us smile as we saw him throughout our stay! Once we walked in to the beautiful main entry, David checked us in, and was able to get us in our room sooner than expected. Later that day we met Sophie, she went out of her way to help us with all of our IHG needs. She gave us recommendations for places to eat and explore, we can't thank her enough for her hard work and dedication to making out trip memorable. If anyone was planning a trip to Puerto Rico I highly recommend staying at the InterContinental, the pool and beach is too amazing to put into words, it is just something you have to see for yourself!

10/10 would absolutely stay here again! First off, the employees, from upper management down to the bellboys were all amazing as they were polite and very professional. The views were outstanding, bars were great and the pool was very nice. Sad to be writing this review at home and not in my hotel room!

I absolutely love InterContinental San Juan! It has all of the amenities you could want in a beach resort. They have a beautiful Spa, fitness facility, pool, jacuzzi (open 24 hours), a breathtaking beach with plenty of chairs and umbrellas to suit your tanning desires. This beach resort has a number of restaurants, bars, and a really nice gift shop. It's perfect for families and singles alike. I will definitely recommend the Intercontinental to all of my friends, and anyone wanting to travel to PR. You can't go wrong with the Intercontinental in San Juan, Puerto Rico!!!

We recently visited and really enjoyed ourselves. The beach and pool are nice and staff was friendly. My only issue and reason for only 4 stars was that on Sunday they scheduled a pool party, which I thought was a DJ by the pool. What they didn’t tell the guests is that they sold tickets to non guests to use the pool. The place was packed with over a few hundred non guests using the pool and the food areas. My family and I could barely find a place to sit and eat. I know some hotels do this to bring in additional revenue, but how is this fair to guests paying a few hundred a night and have to share amenities with someone paying $20 to use the pool. I would actually not stay there again on days they offered the pool party.

The bellhops were first class. A great staff indeed. They need to teach the checking desk people a thing or two about customer service. When check in time on the email says three but they say, no, that's wrong, we have an issue, folks. We didn't get a room until 4:30!! Be sure and get ocean view.

Excellent service. Ideal for relaxed and laid back time off/vacation. Love the pool and bar in it. I've attended several events in their salons and once again the service is great and food doesn't disappoint. What I would recommend them is more special offers for stays. Even if they are short ones, make vacations a bit more accessible. Something to consider more so now that the island needs more tourist and even for those of us who live in PR.

By far my fave place to stay when visiting San Juan! Its LITERALLY located on the beach for you to enjoy a nice day out sipping on the amazing mojitos from the hotel bar. Great food, great music, awesome staff, I mean I could go on forever with this!!! Main thing to remember is to return your beach towels or its a whopping $20 per towel charged to your stay 😱

This is possibly the BEST hotel you could ever visit in Isla Verde. The people are very nice, helpful and really make you enjoy your stay. The pool is amazing and is open all the time (24-7) and behind the pool is a very beautiful beach, that is sectioned off so those who are staying in the intercontinental hotel have their own private beach. The rooms are very nice an have balconies in every room. In the main lobby there is a coffee shop where the service is amazing and the people are very nice. Everything is provided here like towels, beach chairs and even umbrellas. (at your request.) Overall I really did enjoy my stay here at Intercontinental San Juan.

Real nice hotel on the beach. Rooms were nice and clean, we had a small balcony that you could stand on (not enough room for chairs). Nice big pool area. Good restaurant by(on) the beach to end the day.

The pool is huge and kept nice and clean. Lots of lounge chairs. The beach is nice, also with ample lounge chairs and umbrellas available. The service was impeccable. The hotel rooms are old and worn, but functionable and clean. Our family had a very enjoyable stay. You can see the impact the hurricane had, but we highly recommend vacationing here.

Great place to stay. Service is excellent, the view is breathtaking, everything inside looks clean and neat. Might be a little bit over the budget, but remember that this hotel is placed right in the middle of nightlife, is centric to plenty of activities on the metro area, the airport is just around the corner, it is Isla Verde after all: things are pricey on the neighborhood. Still, if you can manage that, it is a perfect place yo stay. Is also relaxed inside and it has a pool AND beach, whatever your preference is.

Although Puerto Rico is still recovering, we are having a great time. The hotel is very clean. Staff extremely nice. The pool and beach are very clean, nice, and relaxing. Places for necessities are in walking distance. There is power. The tourist areas are fully functional. Some outside places did not have the connection to use debit and credit. But, we enjoying our stay!!!!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 night's on a stop over before a Cruise Vacation. We were amazed on how much work they did to make this Grand Hotel look good after the Hurricane last fall. Great service, view, location and beach. The staff were first class!! We will go back to this island and visit longer in the future.!

Its a very nice and classy hotel. It’s more of a close to luxury hotel with a classic twist. The recreational area are neat and clean and very fun. The room was very cozy with many amenities. Beware of having snacks from the room fridge and bar. They’re really expensive. The breakfast buffet is really bountiful with a lot of food. The price for a night is premium for a room, (300+), so plan ahead. The service staff is very attentive. Overall a very confortable experience.

5 day stay prior to returning to Virginia. Overall service was good but there were a couple of small maintenance issues with the bathroom. Despite a promise at checkout that a copy of my bill would be emailed, and a follow-up phone call, I am still waiting for a copy of my bill.

Despite the reported issues I would be happy to stay there again.

It was very pleasant experience staying at this hotel. The people went out of their way to make your stay great. For example we noticed that the taxis were trying to avoid people that had vouchers to get back to the airport, but the hotel paid the taxi guy cash so that they would take us anyways.
Someone else said that it is definitely Americanized and I agree. The grounds and hotel were up kept and on January 31st 2018 there was no signs that are hurricane that was even close to here. In the surrounding areas when we were flying in we did notice a bit of damage but it looks like they are back to normal, at least it looked like that from a tourist's perspective.
The furniture seems like it could use updating but it's not at the point where I would give them one less star.

This is a very lovely hotel. It is definitely American-ized. The employees speak English and Spanish equally well and are very helpful. It is not all inclusive. The gym is very nice and directly above the spa. The pools are clean and have a beautiful view of the ocean. There are many American chain restaurants nearby: Chili's, Burger King, Wendy's, Church's Chicken. There are also some local restaurants nearby with more of a local cuisine. A convenience store is directly across the street for your convenience.

This is the highest level hotel associated with Holiday Inn, so dont expect low prices. I stayed here with my father on vacation. He complained that the burger was $18. However, it is probably comparable to a 13 dollar burger at a normal sit down restaurant. The food I did eat, tasted great. Much better at least than the food we ate on our Carnival cruise prior to staying at this hotel. Presentation was nice as well, although not really needed. But then, when you are staying at a prestigious resort, it can be expected. The room was clean, bed comfy. Not much else to say.

This hotel is very nice! It's very close to the San Juan airport, which is convenient...especially if a flight has been cancelled and need somewhere to stay. The bar in the lobby makes a good Daiquiri and the bartenders are friendly. The front desk representative, Desire, was very friendly, helpful, and patient. Very sweet, after a long day at the airport waiting for a flight that didn't happen she really helped to ease some of the tension of the day. She even offered a complimentary drink from the bar, and advised that drinking it by the pool would help to relax. The pool is also beautiful. The room and restroom were both very nice, the bed was extremely comfortable. My only regret was that I couldn't stay longer to enjoy the amenities.

Love the location. Near a bunch of chic and some local restaurants. It is amazingly luxurious. The staff is extremely polite and helpful! The pool(s) is amazing. I absolutely love the splash bar. And oh my goodness, their drinks are blended extremely well. Doesn't even feel like I'm getting drunk. They have restaurants in the hotel as well. Those have pretty good dishes. Only thing is, a lot of tiny things in our room didn't work... Like the vent or the light on the mirror. Stuff like that.

We are currently 3 days in to our 13 day stay here. The service is top notch. We're staying in a club room on the ground level so we can walk out our sliding door and are steps away from the hot tub and pool. Maintenance doesn't waste any time when a security issue needs attention. Every staff member I have been in contact with is very pleasant and easy to work with. Being in an area that has crazy high humidity, there's bound to be some issues here and there that are moisture related. The inside of the drawers of the dresser in the room all smell musty. I wouldn't put my clothes in there so I asked @ the front desk if I could have a LOT of hangers. Just a couple minutes later a staff member was at my door with nearly 2 dozen hangers. We ate breakfast at the Italian restaurant in the hotel. Even though all we ordered was pancakes and a drink, our server took care of us like we ordered the most expensive meal on the menu. Just a few steps past the pool and the beach is right there! It's not located in a fabulous area and driving to get somewhere is pretty much expected. We are very happy thus far.

Antonio, the concierge, was amazing. He was able to help us find a great tour of Old San Juan, recommended great restaurants, and suggestions for how we could enjoy our stay even more. The rooms are nice and the beach access was excellent. The bar/restaurant by the bar was convenient and the food was tastey. You can't beat the location of the hotel.

Very relaxing except you can hear your neighbors water running, that is my only complaint! Oh and the guest doors slams very loudly; I do not like noise when resting😩😩😩! All the staff here are beyond friendly, doormen, front desk, house keeping, pool side, beach man/woman you name it! You're told up front about the hotel fees which I do believe should be told when booking because they are about $19.00 per day and I think 11% +1.5% tax per plus your $500 hold. I hope everyone has enough💵💵💵to cover unforeseen expenses--- DO NOT TOUCH THE MINI BAR IT HAS A SENSOR THAT CHARGES YOUR ROOM WALK A BLOCK TO CVS AND STOCK UP. It's worth the comfort and safety of the hotel, pool, and beach area! Towels, beach chairs are part of your resort fee, umbrellas are $10 to rent. I could go on but I think you all get the just of it! Ciao😎

Hotel is ok, definitely could use an upgrade. The rooms are small, the pool is nice, the food at the hotel is high. For the price that we paid to stay here I expected so much more. I'm a review type of person and I understand that there are mixed reviews, but this hotel is not the best place to stay in while visiting PR.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use the mini bar in the room, you would think that this is all inclusive because of the price, every time you open the mini bar and take something they charge it to your room... the prices are beyond sky high!!!!

The last thing that took the cake for me was upon check in i was told that there would be $100 per night incidental charge that needed to be paid upfront, we were here for 5 days so that's a $500 hold on your card until check out and then you have to pay a 19% resort fee.

I would highly suggest that you don't stay here, I'm almost positive that there are other hotels around that are much better

I stayed here with a large group and had a double bed room with a balcony. The common areas were somewhat up to date, the hallways were not and the rooms were updated in the past 5-7 years. While I didn't take full advantage of my balcony, I did enjoy having a pool view room while working from my desk with the decent WiFi signal. The premises themselves are pretty nice and I loved the swim-up pool bar which is where I spent most of my stay. The beach itself is OK but if you're expecting fine sand and crystal clear waters, think again.

Very nice hotel right on the beach and a 5 minute ride to the airport. Mostly up to date Intercontinental, but the buildings do show their age in places. Nice gym overlooking the beach could use some newer equipment. Pools and spa are great and the staff is very helpful. Plenty of good places to eat and drink on the property, but also everal choices walkable too.

I was so VERY PLEASED with my stay at The Intercontinental San Juan in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico. EVERY SINGLE person there showed us EXCELLENT hospitality. They even called us SEVERAL TIMES to ask ''is there any way that we could make your stay more enjoyable?'' They spoiled us! I stayed in room 816, GREAT ROOM, NO COMPLAINTS. Suggestion: ask for the very top/highest floor (ocean view) so that none of the trees will block your view of ocean. This hotel is conveniently located on the main strip. Get your liquor and snacks from the 24/7 marketplace across the street, it will save you a lot of money . The only down side about this hotel is that they do not offer a microwave ANYWHERE on the hotel site. (their way of making you spend money at the resort.) If you want a refrigerator for your room, you have to request one; it does not come standard in the hotel rooms. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I'd gladly give them my business again. Thank you Nestor, Luiz, Omar , and TEAM for EVERYTHING ! :)

In a Nutshell:

-The Intercontinental has EVERYTHING you want: excellent location, beautiful scenery, a large property w/ plenty of amenities & First-Class customer service.
-This elegant hotel is a beachfront property and within walking distance to multiple stores/restaurants.
-The oceanview room we stayed in had the basics, nothing real fancy to report.
-Make sure you walk out to the back. It's very large and has a pool/ping pong area, an outdoor bar, big jacuzzi, creative swimming pool, towels, a Mediterranean Restaurant and several lounge areas playing music through outdoor speakers.
-The bar in the main lobby has IPA on draft for you craft beer heads.
-If you use Uber, please make sure you request AWAY from the hotel as their is some tension w/ the taxi companies.

Overall, this hotel is recommended and I plan on coming back to stay again.

The hotel has easy access to the beach from the back. It also has nice swimming pools. The rooms are decent. It's close (short cab ride) to old San Juan and the forts, allowing for easy sightseeing.

Beautiful beach side hotel, used to be a favorite but they recently upgraded to a more contemporary design. Not as cozy and the food has changed to more of a bar menu. Still, who wouldn't love The Intercontinental in Puerto Rico

We stayed at two resorts while in Puerto Rico and this was my favorite by far! The guys out front who helped with our luggage were amazing and gave us great tips to help us save money while we were there which greatly appreciated. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a city view but was still nice. I loved the pool area and beach access. The pool is a good size so people aren't swimming on top of each other. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Puerto Rico.

Excellent service the view was amazing. You can see everything. We were on the 14 floor and you can see the other hotels, the beach, the pool, the beautiful trees and more. The God and drinks were really good. The beach was really clean and beautiful. Not many people there so it was peaceful and quiet so you can take a book to read. Everyone is very nice. They always hold the door for you. They also try to make things happen that you want. We got there at 12 and check in wasn't till 4 so they offered us a changing room so we could go to the beach and they got us the room as early as possible which was 2 instead of 4. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The hotel is very close to the airport and not loud at all. The hotel is within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, Walgreens and many gift shops. There is also 24 hour room service. I would defenetly recommend staying here

The room are great! The staff is awesome! We asked the staff what places they go eat at and they gave us names of true Puerto Rican dishes we may like. We loved everything they told us!!! The beach is about 43 steps from our hotel room and the swim bar is great. We had a king bed and the sheets were always fresh. The location of this resort was great as well, we were close to great restaurants and a Walgreens for the few snack items we got. The balconies are great, perfect to stand on and look out at the ocean!

Everyone was friendly. My son loves the pool and beach here we took advantage of it everyday we stayed here. The room was nice and clean and had ac. Nice view of the city or the ocean.
It's also a street away from a few food places because the food here is way over priced. But other than the food prices everything is great.

Great hotel with amazing views, beautiful pool, and big beach in Isla Verde. Staff are all super friendly and the rooms are all modern and what you would expect from an Intercontinental. The pool is big, with a swim-up bar, little waterfall, and large hot tub. Drink service on the beach is quick and friendly and you can order food from the beach bar when you are on the beach.

Very nice hotel. A little too resort for a business trip but great for family and vacation. Right on the beach with nice pool and really nice workout room. Probably one of the nicest workout rooms in a hotel setting. Very friendly staff. Slow "free" Internet Wi-Fi, my 4G connection was much faster so I used that instead. Overall, much better than the Water Beach Club out the old Holiday Inn a few blocks down. Felt safe, and that's what really matters!

GREAT HOTEL! Every staff person was so friendly during our stay and incredibly helpful. Nestor (the concierge) was wonderful to work with, couldn't have imagined a better stay. It is on a strip of hotels and higher end restaurants, but was a quick taxi or bus ride into Old San Juan. You won't be disappointed!

The pool is ridiculously too big you get lost lol. The hot tub is incredible. The food and bar in pool is great. Very nice staff members. Only complaint is that the room wasnt ready when arrived there after reservation.

I went with Brooklyn College and I've never had such an experience. They welcomed us with open arms and treated us like queens and kings. The beds were amazing and the pillows were super soft. The pool was ginormous and the hot tub, hot. The beach is right in the backyard of the hotel and it was beyond words. Beautiful cannot describe it. The breakfast was delicious, if a little expensive. The casino is small though. Better off going to El San Juan next door. I was spoiled by being in the hotel. I would def come back.

Read all the reviews for the hotels in San Juan and I chose the Intercontinental and I clearly made the right choice! ALL the staff are very friendly from the time we came to the front of the hotel! Louis took our bags out the cab and told us to "relax, your on vacation" we upgraded our room for a view of the pool and ocean, well worth the money. Its a layed back hotel, from the casino to the pool...never crowded, loud, or rambunctious. Staff was always accessible and eager to help with anything. Places to eat are in walking distance( Platos, Balisita, Piu Bella) as well as shops for lil things (walgreen for water, chips, deodorant, ect.) took the local bus to Old San Juan (0.75 each way bus stop right in front of hotel) nice experience, airport is about 15 mins away. As previously said, get a room on the upper floors for a better view, we were on the 9th floor and the view was great. Room was spacious and clean, pool and beach are easily accessible and clean. Never ate at the hotel so I don't know how the food is. Will surely be staying at the Intercontinental again!

My favorite hotel in Puerto Rico. Public areas are beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Doormen, bellhops and valets were very warm and funny. All gave good recommendations for restaurants and travel. One even offered to tour my family around the island on his days off. The location makes for easy travel outside the hotel for great local restaurants at low cost. I strongly recommend the club access for daily continental breakfast and afternoon snacks. This alone saved my family of 6 a small fortune. There were only 2 negative aspects about the hotel, and both were quickly forgotten. Our flights arrived early, 9am, and NO rooms were abailable until regular check in at 4pm. I simply do not believe that. Policy should change.
2nd issue is that the room ac is very noisy, but beds and linens were fantastic. Pool area makes you feel like you're in the jungle.
Great for bisiness or vacation.
