Enjoyed our stay! Walking distance to Galleria mall. Short drive to a variety of top class steak houses. Friendly staff from the front desk, bar tender, to maid service workers. Nice fitness area, but the pool was small like a backyard pool and no poolside bar.

I travelled Houston for a work conference held at JW Marriott. I was about 15 minutes from the hotel when they called to tell me the hotel was full and they'd made a reservation for me for the night at another hotel. No biggie, I switched the address in my GPS and was on my way. Not only did they comp my room that night, they upgraded my room at JW, comped my parking, and brought me a lovely fruit and cheese tray with a thank you/apology note.

The room was beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was wonderful. The room service was tasty, especially the carrot pineapple cake!

I will definitely be staying with Marriott in the future!

Great location for visiting Houston. Besides being across from the Galleria, is a quick drive to get on 610 or 69 downtown. Quick valet service and well appointed rooms with friendly staff.

Terrific location by The Galleria. Valet-, as well as surface and covered self-parking. The rooms are modern, comfortable and spacious. The Concierge Lounge on the 22 floor has great breakfast and snacks. And the service is excellent, as is expected at JW hotels. The hotel also has a very nice gym and pool.

Absolutely on top of every detail. The beds were the most comfortable I've used in months. The staff was amazingly helpful and courteous. The exec lounge was underwhelming but not essential to begin with. Overall very positive experience; zero complaints.

I'm still processing my experience here and I'm just not sure what to think because stuff was kind of all over the place. I came to stay this past weekend with my boyfriend. We were visiting Houston to do a few things for our anniversary. He is a Marriott Gold member, so we thought it would be nice to have a relaxing weekend at a hotel with great service.

I see where people are coming from when they say this doesn't seem like a JW property - it doesn't. It kind of just seems like any other moderately nice Marriott, and I've had much better service at others.

At check-in the girl was extremely bubbly and smiley, but she was pretty scattered. She asked us the same questions more than once, got the last name wrong despite us spelling it for her, and then noted that we were Gold members... before saying that she didn't have any suite upgrades available, but we did have an "upgraded, larger room" on a high floor with a "great view". We were on the 19th floor, but when we got to the room it was pretty clear most of this was just lip service. Typically "larger room" means corner room. This was not. It overlooked the pool, which was honestly appears kind of dirty from above, and it was small. If you don't have an upgrade - DON'T LIE. It's worse than just saying you don't have any upgrades.

Additionally, the valets took our bags, loaded them onto a trolley, and pushed them inside, but left us to take them up and bring the trolley back down, which I thought was weird. At most equivalent properties they do it for you. HOWEVER, overall the valets were very courteous every time we went to get our car.

The room itself was okay, but nothing special. It was obviously renovated and it was attractive enough but did not stand out as a JW room vs a standard room. You could hear a lot of noise, including what sounded like elevators running. The shower was pretty, but small, and nothing you would consider luxurious. I was disappointed with the toiletries they provided.

The breakfast was in line with what I have had at other Marriott properties. Decent variety in their offerings. The first time we went down we went up to the check in counter and the woman there could barely look up to greet us or get us seated. It seemed like she was annoyed to be there and that left a bad taste in my mouth. However, of the two days that we were, there was one girl there who was lovely and exceptionally nice both times, and another woman who waited on us one morning and was very pleasant as well.

I didn't end up going to the gym but I did go look at it and it was very nice with many different machines.

All in all, everything here was so hit and miss. Some stuff was nice, some stuff... just was not.

The Good:
The hotel is in an excellent location relative to dining and after-hours activity - a LOT within walking distance (albeit expensive dining). The property itself is nice, clean, and relatively modern.
The staff are excellent, courteous and efficient for the most part. They've obviously had recent customer service training, as they are still a wee bit robotic in their presentation but that will go away with more time. No matter, they are clearly taking the training seriously, as the service is top notch.
I was staying as a presenter for a conference and Heberth Sosa, the PSAV "Event Technology Specialist" (A/V guy) turned out to be the best A/V Support person I've dealt with throughout many years on the road as a speaker and trainer! He went above and beyond, was always super-responsive, and treated us as though we were the only conference rooms active (we were not)!!
The bed in my room was very comfortable and the decor modern, clean, and riddled with outlets in which to charge or power things! The catering staff were also very friendly and efficient.

The Bad:
The shower in my room had the bumpers that stop the doors mounted backwards, leaving a large gap on the ends, plus one of the rollers was malfunctioning making the door very stiff to move. The gap resulted in a fairly large amount of water exiting the shower stall onto the bathroom floor - soaking the bath mat, and I'm sure not a lot of fun much less a time-soak for Housekeeping.
The CO2/Smoke detector unit was mounted on the ceiling squarely in the middle of the bed and had a BRIGHT green LED which lit pretty much the entire bed. I'm extra sensitive to light and noise thanks to being a chronic insomniac, so this may not bother some but it was quite noticeable to me and impacted sleep quality.

The Ugly:
While my room was great overall, the door to the room was cut so high off the floor that EVERY little sound made in the corridor was heard inside my room. This was especially amplified (see what I did there ;-)) since my room was literally IN the elevator vestibule. My preference notes in all my hotel accounts states "far from the elevator if possible" but to be honest, that usually gets overlooked - this was clearly no exception. I put a towel down in front of the door to block the incessant amount of light and noise and that helped some but not a lot in the noise dept. Plus, I hate dirtying an otherwise perfectly good towel for such a use but ya gotta do what ya gotta do...

Overall, this is a very nice hotel with an excellent staff and great customer service. I recommend staying here when looking for hotels in the Houston area. Just request a room that is not one of the 4 that border the elevators.

If you don't care about sleep, this is the hotel for you.
Awoken each day Fri-Sun by a construction crew on the floor above me, and for good measure they threw in an inadvertent alarm on Sunday morning. Outside of all that, the rooms are nice and the staff very friendly.

One of my favorite hotels in the Galleria area. The parking is a little rough to navigate, but if you valet the valet team is on point. The 22nd floor business lounge is kept well stocked and the service is as expected. Rooms are great and the hotel staff aim to please.

Gorgeous Hotel in Downtown Houston, in an upscale part of town. The hotel is next to their huge wonderful shopping mall.
The staff are always amazingly friendly, the restaurants are great (weekend brunch is an event you cannot miss), and the accommodations are everything you would expect from a JW.
It gets four stars because, well, it's Houston. The city is gloomy and grey... it looks like somebody poured cement over what a nice city could have been. Family requirements bring me to Houston, I would much rather be in San Antonio or Austin, but this JW is not to be blamed for that. Ultimately, I give it 4 stars because it is a nice hotel, but not as nice as some of the other JW I have stayed with, but they have made the most with what they have.

I am thinking about staying here but for a Marriott property, more over a JW Marriott line, this location isn't too aesthetically appealing. This location is very plain looking. For the amount of money JW Marriott's cost, when they renovated this location, they should have renovated the property to have more of an eye catching, lavish decor which JW Marriott and even some Marriott locations are known for.

7

I went here for a special event. The food was spectacular. The interior design was pleasant. What was not pleasant was the mile long line for valet parking making it har to get dropped off near an entrance. By the time you see the sign for self parking, you have already been waiting in Galleria traffic hell forever.

Maybe during busy event seasons like prom, holidays, etc they could get some traffic control on board.

Service is great. Room is clean. Location is fantastic, just opposite Galleria. Very convenient. The only downside is room service variety (mostly sandwiches). I guess it's due to the surrounding food variety, so not much option.

The staff were friendly, helpful and gracious hosts. I was there, as staff, for a group of teens doing hurricane relief work. Because of our reason for staying, we we're given a significant discount, but never made to feel less important than guests paying full price. Rooms, lobby and meeting spaces we're clean and very modern. AND there's a Starbucks in the hotel.

By far, my favorite hotel in houston. The staff are super friendly and they remember us every time we visit.
Breakfast is tasty and full of variety - just wish they served chocolate muffins!
They have a Starbucks inside the lobby too.

Our room is always in top shape - clean and fresh. The double rooms are quite spacious too.

It has an excellent location - you can easily cross the street and go to the galleria.

Hotel is very nice and the rooms are wonderful. The only reason I cannot give it a 5 is because their guest services is horrible. They are not helpful at all they should hire new staff. My husband loves this hotel but guest services when you call should treat you correctly and not speak to you like you are just some buddy of theirs. The manager at this hotel is phenomenal and so is the valet.

Another guy got assigned my room key as well. It was pretty awkward when he walked into my room. Also, a safety concern as my stuff could've gone missing. That got fixed. The pool is old and definitely not up to JW standard. The lobby area is nice. Breakfast at the restaurant was great!

Second time staying here and I have to say what a great staff. Very courteous and pleasant. The indoor/outdoor was a bonus. The health club was super. It has a little area for yoga. Loved it! That was my favorite spot! The room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. We used the pullout bed for the kids and it was comfortable. Appreciated that they have a Starbucks downstairs too.

This establishment is the true epitome of a hotel experience, yes it is on the higher end in pricing but worth every penny. To the modern room suite decor, comfortable bedding, spacious accommodations, walk-in shower as well as the complimentary toiletries. The amenities are to die for from the complimentary melon water offered in the lobby, to the mobile app that can be used to check-in, on-site restaurants, fitness center, concierge lounge, business center, valet parking, laundry service, in-room dining and pool. If that's not enough the genuinely accommodating staff, and the hotel is located adjacent to the Galleria Mall, as well as being in proximity to Houston's best night life. This hotel is truly a gem and a experience that is like no other.

The JW Marriott Houston Galleria is an extremely nice property right in the heart of the awesome Houston Galleria area. The staff were all very nice and constantly making sure everything was good. The rooms are nice with upscale bathrooms. There was a combo tub/shower, but the bathroom was very spacious and had a great vanity and plenty of mirrors. JW is a signature level of service and usually modern decor. This one has the staff but is let down by the facility. The rooms are oddly laid out with a mix of old and new. The issue is the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors open and close the shades, TV, and hall doors do nothing to keep out sound. Basically this hotel is bad compared to JW Houston Downtown. However it does have good staff

“Nice visit...a tad bit loud”
Overall, the hotel is very nicely appointed. I enjoyed my stay, the check in process and the level and variety of food in the concierge lounge. As a Platinum Marriott Rewards member, I got my regular upgrade to the concierge floor. Great food options at both breakfast and after work (you could easily make that your dinner).

However, staying down the hall from the concierge lounge caused a rather noisy environment. For whatever reason, the door to the lounge kitchen was always open. So, the clanking sound of dishes was heard well after the 10:30pm dessert ending time (during break down and clean up). I think this would be taken care of if that door was simply closed.

Great location in the heart of the Westheimer shopping district. The hotel is very nicely landscaped and decorated, from the lobby to the room. There were gorgeous flower arrangements in the lobby, but the dirty water really detracted from the look. The staff was exceptionally friendly and efficient. We enjoyed dining in one of the 5 or 6 nooks, each with a couch, coffee table, 4 side chairs and a TV. The bar was nice, with a great selection of drinks and wine. The steak salad was very good, even though the presentation was lacking.

The room and bathroom were spacious. The bathroom was beautiful, newly updated with nice gray "slate" tiles on the floor, a beautiful shower with marble tiles and a hand held wand in addition to the shower head. There was a robe in the closet, and we loved the frosted glass sliding door, shared by the closet and bathroom. We were disappointed that there was no outlet for charging a phone on one side of the bed. Oh, and having an alarm go off at 6 am on a sleep in day was unfortunate. We both woke up with aching backs, so the mattresses might need be due for updating, but the nice chair and ottoman provided relief. As our neighbors woke up, we could hear them cranking open their beautiful Roman Shades.

Breakfast the next morning was excellent. The omelette chef also made the waffles, and both were delicious. The fruit was fresh, and there were plenty of options to please anyone, from toast to pastries, grits and oatmeal, sausage, bacon-perfectly cooked, potatoes, and scrambled eggs.

Overall, it's a very nice hotel, and I'd consider going back.

Great stay at the JW Marriott in Houston Galleria. Everyone from the front desk to restaurant and room service provided excellent care. This was an awesome experience. This was my first time in Houston. We were there to attend a convention. Each morning the manager was at the elevator to greet our group. The Bell men were very courteous, friendly and helpful. The check-in process was painless and they had enough staff that the wait was non-existent. We received bottled water daily at no additional charge. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the bathroom was large - compared to other hotels. We had a nice view of Downtown Houston. The shuttle was available whenever we needed it and the drivers were nice and friendly. The checkout process was also painless. Although we had a mix up with the bill it was not the fault of the hotel. We called and Sherrill took care of us. She made sure that each credit card was card correctly (we had 3 people in the room). I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay. I do not normally write reviews but this time, I couldn't pass it up. Thanks JW Marriott!
