I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. As other reviewers have commented, the outside could use some sprucing up. The inside is beautiful. The amenities include an indoor pool, a restaurant and an exercise room. The room was spacious and very clean. The hallways are well lit and also very clean. The bath towels are oversized and made of thick quality cotton. I was surprised that there is only one ice making machine on the lobby level. There is also vending machine and ATM machine in the lobby. Also, my room overlooked a lower roof of the hotel, which I thought was weird. Not much of a view. The staff was friendly and helpful recommending local restaurants. However, for an older building, the lobby is elegant. A nice pleasant surprise. Overall, a very nice experience.

Service at The Great Room is always great. My husband and I enjoy coming here for date nights and celebrations. We came for my birthday and the staff even asked if they could give me a complimentary dessert because of the occasion. We always enjoy visiting and will certainly be back.

The new decor is gorgeous in The Great Room. The fire pit and water feature are very unique. The waitress went out of her way to serve us even tho the restaurant wasn't quite open for business yet. The fries were delish and served in an adorable little fry basket. Really cute! Fries are freshly cut in house and prepare.

This was my first time at the Kirkley Hotel and I was impressed! The inside is nicer than the outside. Inside it seems classy. The luncheon I attended was well done and the service was very good. I enjoyed the event!

My best friend took me to brunch at The Great Room for my birthday. The food was delicious, the service was superb, and the atmosphere was great. It wasn't crowded on this particular day and we got to speak with the manager and the chef, who were both very friendly. We ate breakfast items--omlettes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, fruit, and then went to the dessert table for cheesecake. We were even allowed to take an extra slice of dessert home! There's a lot more food available, such as lunch/dinner items and the setup is so that you won't be standing in lines to get your food.

Pleasant music greets you outside. Well-furnished rooms and cordial staff await you inside.. NOTE: No "free" breakfast.

Hotel from outside looks old, but inside its redone clean and modernized. Staff is friendly. Room is clean, bed is comfortable. Indoor pool is nice touch. Restaurant looks nice but haven't eaten there yet. Need ice machines on each floor, going to main floor is a pain, also need a laundry facility for extended stay patrons. Otherwise really happy.
Update: Been here 2 weeks attending school. Restaurant was good, and was overall happy with stay. Maid service and maintenance were great. Front desk staff was friendly and professional. Will be back.

Nice place. Great breakfast and excellent service in the restaurant.
Grateful for the front desk guy that unlocked the fire escape stairway. I almost panicked when they told me they didn't have stairs, only an elevator. He was kind enough to unlock the stairs and leave them unlocked while we were staying there.
The beds were not comfortable to us. I didn't realize they were doubles and not queens , until we got there. Thankful for a place to sleep , but not much room for 2 full grown people in a double bed.
Rooms were clean . Beds had duvet covers that , according to the sign left on our beds, are washed between each guest. That's comforting since a lot of hotels don't wash the bed spreads, comforters or blankets, which is disgusting.

The hotel and restaurant was great. We were well taken care of during our two night stay. The restaurant has a good selection of food and drinks. The staff was more than helpful as well. Our waitress was great during dinner. After we had already left to come home my wife realized she had left a dress behind. The woman that answered the phone when we called personally went and found it and then took our info so it could be shipped home to us. If we find ourselves in Lynchburg again we would have no issues staying there again.

I'm VERY critical, but this hotel gets a 4.5, in town, BEAUTIFUL ROOMS, very clean, good TV selections, indoor pool, exercise room, very comfortable beds and pillows, cushion head boards, very good customer service! They sent reminders and welcome emails prior to me coming, no wait to check in, 3 friendly clerks. THE NEGATIVES: the outside appear isn't appealing. Our group from Portsmouth ALL SAID, ALL OF SAID, " what kind of place is this!" It looks like a crack hotel from the outside, you would drive pass it and go to another neighboring hotel. That would be a mistake, this hotel is one of THE BEST!!! I would've given it a 5 star!

Attending a retirement party in The Great Room, Kirkley Hotel's restaurant. The private party room had casual seating near a fountain, a fire pit and tables. The room was large but extremely noisy because most surfaces were of hard materials and the water fall fountain was loud.

The staff was very professional and accommodating. They turned the fountain off when formal speaking needed a quieter room.

The Restaurant was serving a limited menu because of the large group, but the selections were varried and included popular entrees. Sides were included and were a mix of standard (fries) and unusual ( mashed peas or Caraway seed slaw). The food was tasty and reasonably priced. It could have been served hotter for my taste, but it was warm enough to be enjoyable. The restaurant has house recipes that make it better than a run-of-the-mill restaurant..the fish sauce was different than tartar sauce and went especially well with the Brussels Fries (very thin cut, skins on, fries).

I would not recommend the "party room" if you expect conversations or speakers to be heard easily, but mixer events, where speaking is done in small groups, would be we'll served by the large space and conversation groupings. If the event has speakers, I would recommend having a microphone set up.

Handicap parking and access are available. The lobby restroom may not have wheelchair access stalls, but there may be another restroom for that.

The restaurant has bar service and offers craft beers and a limited selection of local hard cider as well as standard cocktails and regular or premium liquors.

Handling large groups who need separate checks is easy because orders are placed on a tablet and paying is done using the tablet as well.

I will probably return to try the regular menu and the dining room service. I marked down to four stars because of the noisiness.

I really need the hotel 5 stars that breakfast buffet left a bitter taste in my mouth your staff should know that food should not come to them cold and then for two pancakes and a cup of coffee $16 and then and there was another price so you drive the price up. You take the $6 off charge me 11 I go to management. All in all I was Compton $11 and my money was returned to me but that's no way to do business your short order cook cannot stand the traffic why would you put burnt Pancakes on somebody's plate get me the eggs, and those potatoes and why would you charge me $6 for potatoes. Your front desk people very hospitable

We held our company offsite weekend here. It is modern, but warm. The rooms are relaxing and clean. They have an onsite restaurant that is amazing. I highly recommend if you need a place to stay in town. Much better than the chain hotels.

The room was cozy. However, there were a few things that bothered me. 1. The bed was way to soft like it had been really broken into. There was no support and very squeaky. 2. Bathroom was very small. 3. Didn't like the fact that the pool was located between the front desk and the elevators. Giving you no privacy. 4. Food was expensive for its quality.

Hosted a business meeting for large group. Hotel staff was thorough and courteous, as always. The facility has been beautifully remodeled in recent years and looks and feels upper class. Food is always delicious.

Older motel redone nicely, has good mattresses, extra nice linens and towels,..very clean with upscale vs country decor..different but cool vibe. Indoor heated pool with heat in this area and was comfortable even with 32-34 degrees outside. We enjoyed pool with children. Staff were friendly and helpful. Readily gave late check out. Breakfast is extra in their restaurant and not very good. I would suggest Waffle House. Dinner was ok but I felt it was overpriced for what we got. Their restaurant is very interesting with different seating arrangements, maybe someone else might be satisfied with Food.
Great Location across from Mall...15 minutes from hospital...10 minutes from airport.
Rate was great for such a good hotel and indoor pool...98$ (112.00 with tax)

Great hotel and staff. It included a pool and a wonderful bar and restaurant on the premises. It is in a great location in the area and surrounded by many of different attractions. Many places to shop and eat around at.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and has amazingly courteous staff. It has all the amenities, and the Great Room restaurant inside is extraordinarily good!!!
The only downside I can think of is that the hotel is so great that I had a hard time wanting to leave it and actually explore the city.
Keep up the great work!!!

Nice hotel. Clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant was not the greatest. Cold food and a bit over priced. They must have cooked mine first then my wife's as hers was warm, but mine was ice cold. I really wouldn't call it a restaurant either. No real kitchen. Just a guy cooking on a small table top griddle so I think that is why they could not cook our food at the same time.

We went to The Great Room for dinner. It was the first time I had been there and the food was excellent. We kind of had 2 waitresses but they were both fantastic. I will definitely be back when they do the beer tasting.

Overall our one night stay here was nice. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The employees were also nice. The hotel did look old from the outside and our sink in our room didn't drain correctly. I would still recommend this hotel though.

We stayed here for 2 nights to drop our daughter off at university. Staff is very friendly, responsive and helpful. Inside the hotel has been completely redone. Lobby and restaurant are spectacular. Amazing spread for breakfast buffet that you pay for. They are planning to renovate outside eventually which will help people see how truly spectacular it is inside. Nice find. Rooms have mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker hidden in closet.

The hotel was very nice! Very clean, organized, comfortable. I wish I had been staying as a guest! I give four stars simply because the speakers/microphone was not working for the conference I attended. The speakers said it's very common for Kirkley events. Aside from that, everything was perfect!

Always a pleasure to be at The Kirkley! Friendly, hospitable staff. Always a pleasant place to mingle with fellow tourism partners from Lynchburg and surrounding areas. Great presentation today by Randy I. Cohen on the role of arts and tourism in our community.

We had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. Room service was poor and even skipped a day of cleaning. Air Conditioner leaked all over the floor and my suitcase, the coffee station was not refreshed, the lamp by the bed was broken, we asked for additional pillows but never received them. I did complain to the hotel front desk as we were leaving and they apologized and offered a free breakfast. The hotel management was to contact us but that never happened. I would not waste your money staying at this hotel. Many other options in the area.

No room service. It's not an option, they simply don't do it. I found this odd and would definitely choose another hotel in the future because of this. It's a pretty noisy location also- along the highway and if someone is staying next door, you can hear normal level conversation through the walls. The hotel was clean, attractive and comfortable. The restraunt's food and drinks were really good.

Was definitely surprised by the Great Room. When you walk into the hotel, you see restaurant on the left side but there is no host/hostess stand. Because of that, we walked in and headed to the bar where a friendly face greeted us and reassured us that we were in the right place. Aside from that bit of awkwardness, the restaurant is modern but still warm and inviting. There were comfortable couches for lounging in and separate areas for eating that were all a little different but they flowed well together. Our waitress, Autumn, was professional, knowledgeable and fun. My ribeye was a little thin but made up for it with it's flavor. The mashed potatoes were probably the best I've ever had. My wife had a chicken dish that she enjoyed as much as I did. One thing I was surprised by was that you can order "Tastes" of the 19(??) different types of beer they have on tap. Since I'm not really much of a beer drinker and ordering a full beer and finding out I didn't like it would be a waste of money, this was a welcome surprise for $1.50. I asked Autumn and after a series of questions about what I knew I liked, she suggested three different ones; Bold Rock cider, Apocalypse Ale and a Blue Moon. In summary, this restaurant was a very welcome surprise and I'm looking forward to the next time I can eat there!
