This hotel is very noisy. Called to complain nothing was done. The hotel staff was friendly and the room was clean for a pet friendly room. That's the only reason I'm giving them a 2 star review.

I'd like to say that this place was worth it for us. It has a great look and is about 15 minutes from Carmel by the sea. Nothing special but got the job done for us...

Here why I consider it less then average.

Initially I thought the whole place looked really clean! First impression when walking in was great.

After further inspection we found out there was quite a bit of uncleanliness going on.

There was hair all over the floor and in the bathroom. We even found a hair in the refrigerator. After walking 5 steps bare foot I found hair on the bottom of my feet so I started wearing sandels.

The bed is very comfortable!! We loved the bed.

It is very good for the price that we got and if you don't care too much about where you stay this place is perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The staff was very friendly, the rooms were well kept and the free breakfast bar was simple and well maintained. The selection of food at the bar was what you would expect and it was well stocked. Would not hesitate to stay here again on this dog friendly hotel!

The rooms were a fair price for what you get. We didn't have a closet and the only sink was in the entry hall. We were informed that a queen and a double bed are in fact the same size, news to us. Breakfast was toast cereal and hard boiled eggs. We opted to go out.

This was a tad bit disappointing but we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was boiled eggs, fruit with packaged Oatmeal, Coffee. Bagels,Pastries and a variety of cold cereal were available .
The entry to the rooms looks like utility closets. The bathroom was shower only, which was an unlit closet even though the bathroom is narrow there is little light shining in the shower.
The King size bed was the best feature, but the comforter was worn out and covered by a sheet. We asked for an extra blanket, it was so uncomfortable. Felt like it could have sand paper made into the fabric.
Be very careful in the fitness center. They offer 3 or 4 peices of cardio equipment but that's all. One of the two treadmills was out of order and the other had a mind of it's own. The water machine was not functioning and there was trash and cups around it. Needless to say it's use at your own risk.

Both the exterior and interior are dated and shabby. Clean, comfortable and great customer service. Breakfast and pool make the cost for a Monterey stay very affordable.

9

Large rooms some have a pool view with balcony which is beautiful. The internet was incredibly slow, to the point that it didn't even work. The TV was upgraded during our stay from ancient to a much faster and diverse provider. The pool is a nice size and temp, it was the best part of the stay! The breakfast was lacking and the coffee horrible. Also, the rooms only came with one single cup of coffee. The beds were comfy and the oversized doors/windows let in the pleasant beach air. Close to dining. We'll stay again.

Decent motel, great location. Beach is a long walk away, but great neighborhoods to walk through on the way. Close to all of the sights that Monterey has to offer. Decent breakfast to start your day. Room was OK, but nothing special. Price was right though, and I'd stay here for a good night's sleep next time I'm in the area.

On arrival staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Ample free parking. Breakfast was limited but what they had was nice. We paid well over the normal price since it was a sat hence the 3 stars, it wasn’t good value for money for us. No elevator in building but they did offer to help with our luggage.

5

Overall this was a good place to stay... Customer service at the front desk was friendly & helpful. The rooms are clean and the other guests were quiet. Comfy queen beds. I will say that the interior hallways need attention. There is a musty smell about the place and the carpeting needs replacing... ...and if you require air conditioning, this is not the place for you. It may have been tolerable if the room had a ceiling fan to aid the air flow from the open sliding glass door, but no such luck.

We stayed for 2 nights.Room was clean. No security onsite.I walked around to check the card-key hallway entry doors, since the one on my floor and the floor below were not locked. All of the 'security doors' that I checked while walking my dog that led to the hallways hallways, where the rooms were located, were unlocked#disabled.I called to ask the on-site person,Katie, the reason and she told me that they were not locked so as to more easily allow customers to get to their rooms. While walking the dog or entering/leaving the motel ,I observed what appeared to be some homeless ,unkempt transients walking through the property, day and night. I I selected the Travelodge because I had believed that the motel chain was a customer-oriented , reputable business. In this motel, during our stay, this was not so,at this time. The motel manager fave her first name as Erica. I rate this overpriced ($180/night! motel as a 1.5 out of 5. We will not book for the Travelodge again.

You pay what you get.
Pros: it's cheep, it has a nice heated pool and is very close to cannery row, about less than ten min away.
Cons: first room didn't have a working toilet. Second room the beds were dirty. I should have paid an extra 40 bucks to stay somewhere better.
The restaurant next door is pretty good.

Clean and nice but they could use some updates more ice machines so you dont have to drive to office for ice. Also from the outside of entry to rooms looks like prison cells could use some contrast and no warm breakfast.

Wonderful room, decent size, cozy, warm, and very welcoming. The room was nice and clean, there was a stain on the floor but it wasn't something that bothered me. Cable was very limited, but there was a nice balcony view.

Great room for the price! Staff was nice. Room was clean and updated. Would totally stay again! My only complaint is that the guy started packing everything up for the breakfast 40 minutes before it was supposed to close, which was annoying. Maybe more of a variety of food at the breakfast as well.

Everything was good and clean. The staff was friendly too. No complaints. For the price it is very good. It also includes continental breakfast. The only thing is that the mattress feels a little worn.

Although I paid in advance on-line through Expedia, unbeknownst to me, the hotel was going to charge me a $100 deposit until I pitched a fit. The manager stepped out of her office and then waived the deposit which was very kind and gracious. The room was clean but outdated. On the day I stayed the temperature outside was +90°, and to my horror, I found that the rooms have no air conditioning. There are patios in certain rooms though. The continental breakfast was all the basics and was very busy when I arrived. I think they could offer a better variety of muffins, donuts and pastries. Overall, I got what I paid for but won't stay again because of the lack of air conditioning and the surprise deposit charge.

I would have given it 3 stars, but since this is a very affordable hotel I gave it 4 stars. It's around $60 per night, however be aware of the weird people that stay here sometimes. I didn't get much sleep because there was door slamming until 4 a.m. and you can hear people talking in the room next to you. The mattresses are very airy and not comfortable at all. There is complimentary breakfast, but get there early before germy hands go through everything.

Good budget friendly accommodation with continental breakfast included in your room.
This is a large Travelodge with plenty of parking all around the complex. There is a heated outdoor pool in a grass courtyard as well as a breakfast room for where you can enjoy the breakfast that is free of charge and included in your room rate.

The rooms are a decent size and the one that I stayed in a double Queen was very clean with a comfortable bed. The rooms are a little dated especially the bathroom with a retro style shower cubicle, but I found this quite Charming.

The staff were friendly here and very helpful when we checked in and the breakfast was decent enough.

For the money it was the biggest bargain of the hotels I stayed at during our west coast three weeks.
The room was large and airy and the breakfast filling.
Wifi was off due to a fault in the area.
The reception desk was staffed with very helpful staff.

Stayed for 6 nights while working nearby. The gentleman at the front desk was super polite upon checking in and made sure I was aware of all the included amenities. The room was spacious and tidy with just enough updated furniture/appliances. Overall I had no complaints, but the bathroom could use a little refreshing and while the room wasn't dirty, it could have been a touch cleaner upon my arrival.

Location was wonderful and the service was fantastic. Rooms were clean and neat. Bathroom could use a little updating but overall very nice. Room included a working fridge and microwave along with a large TV with plenty of channels. Large window with a slight ocean view. Breakfast was great and had a lot of options. Only about 15 minutes away from parking and the trolley forCannery Row and the Aquarium.

Room was clean. Bed was not comfortable. Cheap mattress.
Front desk was 5-star.
3-stars because their internet service was non-existent. And the entire Monterey peninsula is bad (Verizon) anyway. I don't know about other providers.
TV channel lineup is poor although it did offer all the main channels.
Lastly, the room rate was very reasonable.
"Breakfast" was very lacking but the coffee was excellent.

Location/price were the only good things about this place. Bedsheets had stains, no A.C., smelled funny similar to bleach. Guest services were good, but would definitely not be back. In need of a renovation ASAP.

Everyone has been really nice and the room (queen room with two queen beds) is decent. My complaint is we requested a crib and did not receive it when we checked into our room. So when we called to request it at about 1pm and we were in our room until about 6pm to go out for a bit. Then later returned at 10pm, the crib still wasn't placed in our room. So, we had to make another call to the front desk to ask for it again. We then received it 15 mins later. Other than that, the room size is decent, as well as the free breakfast. And there look is heated as far as they told us, we will not be testing it out considering it's still too cold and windy outside for my little ones.

We stayed in the Del Monte suite, it's a large room with 3 beds a king in one room and 2 queen beds in the other. The breakfast is not very good and there is not much in the breakfast. The pool is very big and it was a little cool but once you were in you got use to it.

Good location and very close to other hotels and restaurants. The area is nice and feels safe. Some rooms share a door which is odd and you can hear people in the other room. Wifi service was truly terrible. Not recommended for stays longer than a couple of days. Oh and no AC, so if it's hot, you better open the windows.

Walking down the hallways everything just felt dirty. The carpet was stained and there were small pieces trash on the floor. Once we got to the room it wasn't too bad but the carpet had some stains. We were awoken at 6 am by the noise of a plane taking off right over us. Even with our kids' sound machine going the plane woke everyone up. We didn't spend much time in the room during the day but that night planes were flying right over us sounding like thunder until around 11pm. The sound of the planes was only beat out by the thumping rythums of the concert that was going on the fairgrounds across the street our second night.

Edit- I forgot to add that the internet was terrible and we were in the main part of the hotel with the lobby.

Bottom line I would never stay here again.

I liked it, no air conditioning. But didn't need it, room was very spaceious. Bathroom had a big counter, and whole room was very clean. The tv was on a stand that you could easily turn for different viewing angles. We had am issue connecting to the hdmi and asked the front desk for help, they replaced our remote and fixed the problem very quickly. Staff was very nice. We stayed in May and even then it was cool outside.

Close to the highway so good access and easy to find. We stopped here on our road trip along the Big Sur and it worked just fine fire that. A short drive from the Monterey pier. Rooms clean and spacious. Breakfast rather basic and with plastic cutlery - not exactly green!

Nice hotel for the price. However it is right in the flight path of Monterey Airport and it sounds like the corporate jets are landing INSIDE your room in the middle of the night.

6

Good location and quiet, also liked the little balcony, but not without a few issues.
Low water pressure in the bathroom sink.
TV picture quality was lacking.
Room heater not working very well. Even set to highest setting, the room was hardly warm enough to be comfortable in (also kept making some tapping noises the whole night).
Will look elsewhere for next visit.

We were presently surprised to see that this hotel was well kept and clean. The staff were present and helpful. My only complaint would be that the beds were stiff and somewhat uncomfortable. We only stayed one night so that was not enough to to ruin our trip.

If you are only looking for a place to lay your head down for the night near Monterey Bay Aquarium, this place won't break your wallet and fits the bill. Rooms are clean, a bit outdated, slow wifi, and small bathrooms. Concierge people are nice, polite, and helpful.

6

We have a pet friendly room, however when we arrived there was dog kibble on the floor and long black human hair all over the bathroom floor. The sliding patio door was stuck shut so we had to call maintenance to fix the door so we could unlock it and open it. Then have them vacuum the room.

The only place to obtain ice was way over in the lobby, quite a walk! No liner for the ice bucket, yuck.

The hotel staff is nice, but I'm not happy with the hotel. I've stayed in nicer hotels, guess I should have stayed with my usual favorite budget chain, Best Western.

Ok, so all in all it was ok. The room was clean, beds nicely made and it has all you need for a night, but... It's not what I would call nice. It's outdated, stuffy and the windows are made of paper, you can hear everything.
People constantly parking up and beeping late in to the night.
We were (accidently) called at 9.30pm about towels, granted it was an accident, the member of staff was given the wrong room number and apologised.

The noise and disruption wouldn't be a problem if we didn't have a child with us.

Fine for the night.

Arrived here for a end of week getaway. The hotel staff was friendly and gave us tips of the best places to see and eat while we were here. When we arrived to the room we were worried about the choice because there were no outside facing windows. Once we entered the space we felt at ease, the room was nicely decorated and the king size bed was comfortable. The television was about 32 inches and had 20 or so channels, so some variety to spend time during the evenings. My favorite part about the stay was the balcony. Ours overlooked pool area and provided a nice cool breeze during the summer.

It may not be the latest greatest facility but the staff is awesome. Once left an expensive watch on the bed, cleaning staff found it and promptly returned. Another stay had a very noisy neighbor, called the front desk, they verified it and immediately gave them the boot. If you're looking for a simple and affordable nights stay in monterey, look no further. Beds are comfy, power plugs in light fixtures for easy access, tv doesn't suck but could use more channels.

Words of a frequent traveler, using various hotels about 25 nights a month.

Recently remodeled. Rooms are nice and beds are fine. The staff needs to work on their customer service skills, received very poor support and understanding during my check in while parking my truck & trailered boat boat in a secure location. 2 years ago my vehicle was broken into. The staff didn't seem to understand I wish to park my truck and boat in the front of their location to reduce the chances of this happening again.this is the only hotel in over 160,000 miles of Is a pet friendly location, but they're great is outrageous. In general this hotel is overpriced like everything else in Monterey.

I had a good experience here, I didn't mind the the planes at all, or the soundproofing. king size bed was awesome! so was the customer service, they were very generous and caring. they gave us a beautiful view over the pool, perfect for a little weekend getaway, for what we spent I think it was worth it. rooms were nicely remodeled, could use a little touch up here and there, but if you are just in to sleep, it's not a problem. rooms could use an upgrade in faucets and shower heads. I didn't really mind any of it, my fiance and i slept like a baby! thanks to Ali.

Had a good time. -1 for charging for the safe. I didn't user it, but I saw the sign there. I don't understand nickle and diming from hotels. It leaves a bad impression on me. -1 star for lack of soundproofing. From staying there I can tell you that the last plane goes off at midnight, the first one comes at 5:30, the garbage truck at 6:00, and the people next to me had 4 kids. One named maria and one named jose and they don't get along when they need to take a shower. That family was nice though, no profanity at all.

Other than that, it was a good experience. rooms were clean, water was hot, beds were comfy and I don't ask more than that.
