We loved this place!

The rooms were spacious, great view of the water, lots of fish to fees right outside the room, a bar with a pool, the staff was super friendly, you get espresso machines in the room, I could keep going.

Very happy staying here :) would highly reccomend.

The hotel is in a very convenient location near the port lucaya market. This gives you quick access to a large variety of restaurants, shops, and activities. Although it is closer to the market the hotel is quiet and relaxing. There are multiple pools to choose from if you aren't keen on the beaches and they are kept in good order. The staff is friendly and helpful from the moment you walk in the door. The rooms have been well kept during my visits to this resort. As is typical of resort bathrooms the showers tend to be on the weaker side. The TV, if you're looking for a quiet night in, is a dated CRT that likely won't connect with your device if you so desire. The air con works but as is typical with these smaller units does not keep a consistent temperature in the room and the room may heat up before it kicks in again. The room is by no means uncomfortable though. The beds both times have been comfortable. As with any travel I would recommend bringing your own pillow. The breakfast at the restaurant is your standard fare for these types of places and is perfectly adequate to get going on the morning. Sitting outside on the balcony and eating your breakfast is a nice relaxing way to start the day. If I were to come back I wouldn't be disappointed staying at this hotel again.

Stayed there for a week in a suite. The location was perfect. Loved the hot buffet breakfast daily. Grounds clean and everyone was extremely helpful and nice. Only problem was our suite had a smell..I called front desk and they brought me air freshener, it helped some. The rooms need to be updated

This is a beautiful hotel, a jewel in paradise. It's close to the Port Lucaya marketplace with lots of shopping, restaurants and bars. The staff were wonderful, helpful, warm and welcoming. You do have to shuttle or cab it to the beach, but the hotel is on the river, so it's got water views. Restaurant on site is nice, and we loved The Bones Bar. Free breakfast is available. I adored this boutique hotel, would highly recommend it, and would go back again.

Premises well kept, at a great location. Some amenities in the room appear to be dated. Also, breakfast can use some variety instead of exact same items 5 days in a row.

Hotel was good. Service was good. Room was just okay. Only major issue we had was roaches! We killed a few and there were several dead ones under our bed.

Excellent location, beautiful views, and the hotel was very accommodating. Only downside was related to the included breakfast. They were not always well stocked on items on the buffet and items were not always hot. Sabor restaurant was amazing. We ate there many times and were never disappointed.

The room was a good size. Spacious, and slightly dated, but with some Caribbean charm. 'Sabor' restaurant on the property makes a nice Grouper and the conch fritters were a nice compliment. A short walk gets you to the main tourist square with restaurants and shops to enjoy. Not much time to fully explore the area and not sure I'd return anytime soon, but if I did it seems Pelican Bay is one of the few decent choices to stay at.

The grounds of the hotel is absolutely beautiful. Great location near the Lucaya Marketplace where you can find food, local goods and adventure. I rated low because the rooms need some updating. The rooms are dated and not well maintained. The staff was friendly and will definitely consider staying here again.

February 5th, 2017 arrival.

The Pelican Bay resort is very quiet and nice. The staff is exceptional and the Sabor Bar is the bomb! If you like to talk and mostly laugh while you have a Bahama Mama..... then stop and enjoy! The local Beers are excellent also.
The rooms are clean and tidy, but as most reviews, need an update, thus the 4 only stars.
I must say though having a quiet and secluded room was nice and made up for the old furnishings.

The breakfast on the 4th floor is worth the trip. I was very impressed by the setting and quality presented. The staff attendants there were very nice.
Thank you for making my trip a pleasure.

BTW...the Bahamian People are some of the nicest I've ever met.

Unfortunately I'm only able to rate this 3 stars due to hurricane Mathew. The hotel is still undergoing reconstruction at this time. Front desk employees were not very friendly or helpful. The tile floors left our feet black from dirt and dust from construction. Having said that, everyone else was smiling and above and beyond helpful. We do plan on returning at some point. The restaurants on site were amazing! Sabor was our favorite! Another favorite activity was swimming with the dolphins! That is definitely a "must do"!

Last minute I needed a hotel. Found the hotel to have a nice exterior. The room I stayed in could use some updating in regards to TV and beds. Overall a quick stay but not bad. The elevator did have a heavy smell of grease as if it may have a leak or recently been serviced but no other major issues

Charged $139 taxes when we arrived after we had already paid for the room through our cruise company. Asked for a room not on first floor we were told our room was on 3rd floor. We left for an excursion and they put us on the 1st floor. Room was very spacious and clean. Asked for more in room towels and never got any. Overall customer services was bas but the property was great and the rooms excellent. Hotel gives complimentary bahama mama drink and ferry rides to the beach

We loved this hotel in the Bahamas! We were not originally supposed to stay here but were so pleased we did. The rooms were huge and very well kept and it opened right out to the pool and marina area. It was only a short walk to the beach. Only downfall was the restaurant experienxe we had... the staff there were not overly friendly of helpful and I would not recommend their restaurant 'Sabor' to anyone. We found way better food and service walking through the marketplace at Port Lucaya.

Rooms are very spacious but dirty. It's all tile, but you better bring flip flops or wear your shoes because the floors will make your socks or feet black from dirt. Bar was average.. My fiance and I had to wait 10 minutes to get drinks and another 10 after we finished our drinks for another round. Close to the beach, but you are better off staying at another hotel right off the beach.

Service is slow but helpful. The rooms are spacious but not clean. You get the same towels, and sheets, with just a quick daily cleaning. The breakfast comes across as complimentary but then they charge you $22. The water didn't work one morning but was quickly fixed with a call to the front desk. Other than that it's a hotel. After two weeks here, I guess it could be worse

Very nice location, good pool, connects with water taxi to Tanio Beach, beautiful view of marina, 2 min walk to marketplace (souvenir stores and restaurants). Rooms are a little outdated, but they allow you to use The Grand Lucayan across the street as a Pelican Bay guest. Their hotel/resort is much more beautiful, much larger and is oceanfront.

Relaxing hotel. When we checked in we were given the wrong room. The trainee gave us a lot of wrong information. Stick with the established staff upon check in. No beach at this hotel.

Our two night stay at the Pelican Bay Hotel was mediocre at best. In the interest of being reasonable it should be expected that the check-in process would take a bit longer when a literal boatload of people are trying to get into their rooms. However, the sometimes two person usually one person trying to check everyone in caused a line out the door while a plethora of staff milled about the reception area in a hurry to look too busy to help. The lack of scoop at the ice machine brings into question the hygiene of the other people staying in the hotel, hopefully they recently washed their hands. The front desk did offer us two complimentary drink tickets good for either a "yellow bird" or "bahama mama". While this was nice of them... there was a bit of an issue between with the bar staff. The first bartender claimed that the "yellow bird" was not made with pineapple, but the "bahama mama" did contain it. The second bartender claimed that both drinks contained pineapple. The distinction is very important to me as a person who is severely allergic to pineapple. We ended up explaining the situation to the bartender making our drinks, but the confusion could have ended disastrously. Our room was a bit dated, but comfortable. The hot and cold water was backwards from conventional, which is no big deal, but strange since it was backwards from the way it was marked too. The bathroom fan was wired to be on with the light which was a little annoying. When trying to book an adventure the staff was not helpful. Again the issue being that only a single person was working the front and was normally busy with a line of guests. The largest inconvenience about the Pelican Bay Hotel was that it didn't have a private beach like the other hotels in the area. They did advertise that a free water taxi would take us to a beach across the canal, but during our visit the taxi was broken... a fact not told to us until we asked. We even had to tell a few other guests that were waiting for the water taxi to arrive about the issue. A simple sign could have done wonders. I will say that Pelican Bay Hotel was conveniently close to Port Lucaya Market, but pretty much everything is. Of the multiple hotels in the area I cannot imagine that walking to the market would be difficult for anyone except the elderly or disabled. All-in-all while we look forward to going back to the island, we will likely stay somewhere else next time.

We came in about 10am and they told us rooms would not be ready till 3:00pm which we were informed by our ship flier. So we were prepared for 3:00pm. But the room was ready by 1:00pm and they gave us key to our room. They had sweet ice tea,Apples and hot water in lobby for customer, free.. They let us use the bathrooms and gave us free pass to drink. We had lunch at the restaurant but bit higher than expected. Rooms were clean. Service okay but their service charge is 18% on everything which comes to $50 a day.wow! We stayed 4 nights and had to pay $108 which we did not expect and was out of budge.

There weren't a lot of options in Freeport due to the hurricane last year, but Pelican was recommended to us. It was a nice place. Has at least one restaurant, maybe more. Somewhat overpriced, but good. I would stay again.

Great hotel and very customer friendly and oriented front desk.
The only con I can think of is free breakfast quality and variety. We got sick one day after eating eggs...
But still 5 stars because of their friendliness!!!

This place is an awesome bargain (Pelican Bay)! Let's begin. My fiancé and I arrived at 2PM, and were told our room would be ready between 3-6. We took a walk by the marketplace to grab lunch. Came back at 3:15 and our Suite was ready. The suite we got was the single bed (king) with the built in microwave and fridge. Our view was a pretty good one (Waterview) if you'd like to watch the sunrise room #230-245 will give you that option. Staff is okay. Let's be honest most of us are spoiled rotten and expect to be catered to. Most of us want empathy for no reason. The culture here is very different. IMO staff was straight to the point. We had vouchers for drinks at Sabor, the restaurant on site (Free is always good). Be weary of the folks telling you they have lunch specials. Some of the lunch specials were $20 plates. Expect to spend $80-$100 per day on lunch and dinner. You can catch a ferry to Taino beach for free daily. It arrives ten minutes past the hour every hour up until 10PM. Marketplace folks are very aggressive with sales tactics. The duty free spirits are not such a good deal compared to what you spend at home. Seems like the tax free break is built into the pricing of majority of the items. Ladies there are some aggressive men out here i.e. Hard looks maybe a comment with a possible hand grab. All in all we give it 4 of 5 because we feel a lot of the things we had to find out should have been explained to us, and staff up front was not very informational. Great room, beach and food. We will be coming again.

I went there with my new wife for our honeymoon through a vacation express groupon. we got to the hotel early but they let us check in without any charge or problem. the room was beautiful and clean. GREAT VEIW from our 3rd story balcony overlooking the bay. Free breakfast was great and very tasty! I would totally recommend and so would my wife. only down side was the food choices. we aren't seafood lovers so choices were very limited. good thing there was a dominos pizza and a subway restaurant within walking distance of the hotel!! also staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Good enough, but check your bill. They charged me beakfast while I have already paid when I booked the hotel and they charged me one dinner at their restaurant where I have never been. So they corrected, without any sorry. Watch out.

This place is amazing! I went there for a destination wedding with a group of 80 people. The hotel was more than accommodating! The room was clean, and friendly does not even describe the staff. Everytime I passed any staff member on the grounds they made an effort to acknowledge me with a smile. The three different pools were excellent for our group to rotate around and most of the time it felt like our own private pool! The location is great, just minutes away from the local market square, shops and entertainment. The only downside to Pelican Bay is the food. Not that its bad, its just limited. With only one restaurant open all day and a daily breakfast buffet, we had to go elsewhere a lot for food. Other than that, this place is definitely perfect for a quaint, friendly vacation! Recommended 100%!
