I attended a training at the Red Lion on Market Street in Salem. We had around 400 employees in attendance. Although their service was decent, there was very limited parking due to ongoing construction on the hotel. We had to park several blocks away and then go move cars at breaks to avoid fines. As we were eating lunch we were informed that we could not eat food we had brought in. This was frustrating as it was quite hot outside, and we were not informed of this ahead of time. They did put together a lovely buffet lunch on site, but at $18 per person, it was out of reach of most of our group. This wasn't a worst case scenario, but I was not impressed.

The hotel was lovely. I didn't see any of the rooms, because I was there for a class, but everything was clean and beautiful.

Service was great the mixologist was easy to talk with. Although the establishment was still under renovation it gave out an aura of an easy and relaxed mode.

I only stopped by to pick someone up from a shuttle service from the airport. However, I interacted with the employee at the front desk regarding where the van arrives and such. They were very friendly, polite, and helpful. They were remodeling parts of the building it seemed. The lobby was very nice. Clean, open, welcoming. I also noticed a bar/restaurant area that looked like it might be worth looking into. Limited use of the hotel, but all positives.

The hotel is currently under major renovations. The pool is closed, the hallways are freezing, and there is so much construction noise you can't relax during the day. It looks like it will be nice when completed, but it wasn't the relaxing getaway I was anticipating. Very disappointing.

Never actually stayed at this hotel. I only visited to attend an event in their banquet room. It was a great event, but I must admit I was very disappointed that Red Lion management proclaimed that the renovations would be finished and the lobby/restaurant area would be available. Unfortunately the renovations were NOT finished, so that was a major downer. In addition to that, the back entrance awning area is used as a smoking area, and it's nowhere near 10-feet from the doors so the whole place constantly stunk of cigarette smoke. Not fun having to walk through that smell on the way to grab food from the adjacent banquet room.

Hotel is under major construction which we were unaware of at the time of booking. When we arrived, we thought it might have been closed since it was so torn up and so many construction supplies were outside. Though the one part of the lobby that seemed to be completed look nice, that is where it stopped. Through the hallways to our room there were ceiling tiles removed and an end of a hallway boarded off for construction. Once in our room, the bathroom door stuck so I had to really pull hard on it to get out! We didn’t close it all the way after that. The shower didn’t turn on, we tried and tried and then called the front desk. They said it can be hard to pull but that it worked. My husband had to pull on it so hard he was afraid it might break, but it eventually turned on. I had to turn the water all the way to hot to just keep it warm enough to shower. We had stayed here a year ago and it was fine. I’m sure it will be much better after the remodel but I would not stay here again until the remodel is complete.

Place was under construction so didn't have access to pool or workout area! Would have been much nicer had that been an option. Beds were comfortable and showers cleaned daily was nice though they don't strip sheets unless requested from what we could tell. Food catered there was nice in general as well. Employees nice and friendly.

One of the best and friendliest spots I have ever spent a length of time at. Great idea 5$ bar coupons every day! What a way to generate income and keep customers like me coming back.

I only give them a three because we didn't spend the night here. But the food they served was great, their conference rooms where nice, staff was great. It did suck sometimes, to hear because they were doing construction.

We made our reservations on line, and from previous experience from having used Red Lion in the past, we anticipated having an enjoyable time. We love the elegant look and were looking forward to using the available amenities (heated pool, and gym), we were quite shocked and heartbroken to see the condition of the hotel, it was under construction and we actually didn’t even know where the entrance was! We considered going to another hotel, because of the noise, dust, and plain and simple not what we were expecting. I spoke with Jose at the front desk, who assured us they would work with us to make our stay enjoyable. He moved us to a larger and better room, they did more for us than most hotels. It made up for any inconvenience we had. After construction I’m sure they will be be back to their beautiful, elegant look. The complimentary breakfast is without a doubt the best, the bar serves great drinks, my wife enjoyed the JACK FROST. I look forward to coming again and would recommend to our family and friends. Thanks Jose!

Construction is ongoing but there was no inconvenience and we we're greeted cheerfully when we entered. Looks like they are remodeling. Person at front desk was helpful and also said good day when we left.

Had to stop in after long day of driving. All other hotels were booked. Room was well used. Lots of dings and scratches. Tv would not work. Small room. Bathroom door would jam and not open without some pushing. World's worst pillows would just turn to pancakes when you put your head on them. I just made a pillow from my clothing. So not worth they money spent. So glad it was for one night.

We stayed there recently and we were very pleased! Great costumer service! Good price and the room we got was very clean and comfortable! As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a nice gentleman who also offered us some cold water bottles. I had no problems whatsoever. I recommend this place and I know next time I visit I will definitely be staying there again.

I sent a group of 24 retired persons to this property, based on on-line photos, previous experience with the chain, and location of hotel. I am so sorry that I used this property. There was something wrong in almost every room: no cold water, no door on bathroom, wood trim peeling from walls, musty smell, and so on.
I try to provide a safe and happy tour for my customers, and this hotel is way below our standards. I was promised a free breakfast, and they provided one, but if anyone wanted orange juice, it cost extra. If anyone wanted to take a cup of coffee to go, it was $1.00 extra. Seriously, with all of the amenities provided by most of the major chains today, this hotel was nickel-and-diming my customers for minimal profit.
I was very disappointed in the service, and in the product provided. We will never again use this property as part of any of our tours. Other hotels in the chain are definitely better, but I probably will not dare to use any of them in the future.
If you really don't care about the room in which you sleep, you probably won't mind it. If you have average to higher standards, don't stay here.

The hotel staff are the friendliest of any hotel that I've ever been in. Or room is comfortable. The only complaint I have is the spa (hot tub) no longer exists. For some reason it has been filled in and now is part of the pool room floor.

Great staff very animal friendly clean and great for events. Wonderful restaurant with room service and fantastic free breakfast become a reward member and save big. Best way to book your stay is through the hotel or Red Lion corporate rather then Expedia or something like that. Huge event rooms and a nice saltwater uv light swimming pool with minimal chlorine PLUS handicap wheelchair that allowed disabled enter the pool. Lots of parking and very safe. Best place to stay in Salem!

We ate at the restaurant and will be doing so again. Friendly service and really good food. Not cheap but worth it. Even the basic burger is worth returning for. Real garlic chunks make the mashed potatoes awsome. Fish and chips are hand made. Save room for the Creme Brule cheesecake and caramel pecan flan. Yum!

Bartender was awesome. Food was excellent. I would definitely go back here. Rocco's bar a block away for after hours or dinner specials. After eating dinner here, found out I could have had prime rib for 11.95 at Rocco's. Next time I'll check first.

If you have no other options in the local area this place will work for a night's sleep. If you don't mind having the great lobby and just a decent room, then this is your palace. I don't want to put places like this down, we've had great experiences with other red Lion's in this state, however, this is the "worst" I've had from this chain.
My sheets had a small cut near the feet, the toilet barely flushed, and the doors would continue to stick closed since the paint buildup has tightened the seal too tight. The pool worked as a pool, but don't expect a hot tub for adults to relax and enjoy.
The in house restaurant is as expected, expensive and quite tasteless. Not free unless your earning reward status. The pricing of the food, breakfast to dinner, at 4 star prices but less than Denny's quality, sorry Denny's. (There is a Denny's right down the street which we preferred)
The ability to jump on the freeway, a block away is nice. Local amenities, attractions, and family continue to finish off my 11hour travel and from this day forward I will stay in the McMinnville Red Lion, another 45 mins away, or try and build new reward relations with another hotel.
I could and should fill this review up with pictures of even the smallest complaint like dusty, very dusty, base board of the dresser/entertainment center. Being a veteran, it comes without a doubt to check small unnoticeable areas, this isn't hidden and is in full display without "searching" for a complaint.

The rooms are small but cheap. Font desk is helpful and friendly. The included breakfast is nothing to shout about but does its job. But really the main reason is to just come back and sleep after a day shopping. pretty good since the price is right. Beds could be updated. A little too soft for my liking.

We just recently stayed at this hotel. We had outstanding service. It was quiet and the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. We found it to be very convenient with the added restaurant. We ate there daily and had excellent service thanks to Ian and Sarah. (Morning crew) Those two hustle to get you your coffee and your food. They were very pleasant to talk to and in our opinion did an outstanding job taking care of the guests. Ian is exceptional. He is all over the place taking care of everyone and has a wonderful personality. We have stayed at many "other" hotels and I have to say they need more employees like Ian and Sarah.

The hotel is a bit old - but it was clean, and super cheap. We got a special price of $25 with breakfast. The staff were Best. Very helpful and kind. The location is near the city center. They have a nice fireplace in the lobby.

Had a company dinner here recently. Waiting staff was professional and hard working, no one ever had an empty glass. Food was good, and our large group was served almost simultaneously, though it was clear that some of the plates had been sitting in the open air for awhile as they were, by comparison, much colder than others with the same dish. Overall best part was the waiting staff, kitchen staff could have been better.

Really great pet friendly hotel! I was pleasantly surprised with our single queen sized room. Very spacious and clean. I don't think I've ever experienced such great sleep in a hotel bed either. Staff is extremely friendly and always willing to help. The continental breakfast was incredible. Another bonus is there is no pet fee or weight restrictions. We brought both of our dogs and they were just as welcomed as we were. I'm very impressed. You can tell that the hotel really thinks about their customers and provides services accordingly.

I appreciate that this hotel is easy to access from I5. There is a good amount of space for conferences and the price is reasonable. The banquet staff are great! The hotel is in need of an update. The furniture and carpeting are getting worn and should be replaced. Everything is clean just a little run down.

This hotel is well maintained and conveniently located near the highway. The double Queen room was spacious and clean. bonus points for having an enclosed toilet! There is a bar and grill connected to the hotel serving decent meals thought-out the day. We had breakfast included with our stay of $110/night. The concierge were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed at Red Lion Hotel Salem for a night while heading to the coast. The service was excellent! The gentle man behind the counter was friendly and excited to be there. The halls and rooms seem a little dated (1990) but it still looked clean and very tidy. A little pricy for a queen room but Overall a very good experience.

Hotel has some updates, but it's mostly a facade over the old outdated hotel. Attention to detail just not there. Beds were comfy, AC worked, staff pleasant. Had loud TV in room next door all night and called desk but nothing changed. Ability to IM desk is a plus. Red Lion in general needs some pride of ownership. There are no laurels to rest on anymore.

We went to Red Lion for our Wedding night and we got their Jacuzzi suit. It was an amazing experience and the only fault to mention is that they could have had better instructions on how to use the Jacuzzi bathtub. Other than that, everything was absolutely perfect!
