Just home from a 5 day stay at the Adelphi Liverpool. Okay it's a bit tired and could do with some tlc. Was in room 106 it was clean and spacious. The lovely lady who did house keeping on this floor was so kind to help us on our departure as the lifts were so busy we could not get out for our bus on the day we were leaving. All staff were helpful and friendly. Food was hot and plenty of it. On our second last day workmen needed into our room for maintenance so we were upgraded to the Harold Wilson suite. It was really nice. Don't know why there are so many bad reviews. It was cheap and cheerful. Only downfall is the rooms at the front are really noisy at night as pub across the road has music till late at night. Would still stay here again.

Supposed to have a poor reputation. However our room was clean, big large bathroom. A little dated. Food is self service with reasonable selection and hot. Served on hot plates which is always nice. Only one food area so you queue to serve yourself. Drinks were good prices but when we visited, ONLY 2staff serving drinks. Very very long waits to get served. Recommend you order double and use a tray

Beautiful a little dated. If a bit of money was spent on this hotel it would definitely once again be Liverpools most prestigious hotel.
I'd recommend going just to see the splendour and if you do stay try and get a corner room the size is amazing
Don't be expecting Yes Sir, Certainly Madame the staff are pure Liverpool.

Great atmosphere and for what i paid for the room at the last minute it was pleasantly surprising. Staff were helpful and very friendly. One of the busiest weekends, champion league so much going on the weekend of the 26.5. Bank Holiday
Would certainly go again!

Good hotel, tidy and clean. The rooms are in need of an update but this is reflected in the price of the room. Friendly and helpful staff. Bar didn't have a card payment option but was nice enough to enjoy a beer or two. Would stay again

Unfortunately I wouldn't give this hotel more than 3 star's, the room's really need some TLC and upgrade to what people expect from what was once an iconic Liverpool hotel. The prices you are charged for overnight for a room that has dirty skirting boards and carpets that have seen better day's is ridiculously high compared to many hotel's in the city. The Liner hotel just up the road is more modern with a hint of nostalgia, but is CLEAN! The old grandeur is still there when you look at the ceilings, such a shame I wouldn't recommend staying here there are more hotel's and apartments much nicer and cheaper in the city.

Came here to visit the tattoo convention, but I didn't stay here. Not going to lie though, it's a beautiful building inside and out, absolutely huge place, great for events! Will definitely be staying here on my next visit. The location is fantastic with the city centre on the doorstep and all the touristy parts of Liverpool within walking distance.

After reading some of the reviews on here, I really wasn't sure what to expect but my husband and I have had a great time here this weekend. Yes, the rooms aren't as modern as some hotels but we thought that added to it! The food was brilliant at dinner and breakfast, the staff were lovely, especially those on the reception, and our room was clean and comfortable. We stayed here as part of the tattoo convention and we will definitely be back next year. Thanks.

Love the faded grandeur of this famous landmark hotel. Although now a budget hotel, it still has the breathtaking ballrooms with chandeliers & mirrored walls. Rooms comfortable & clean & facilities good. Spa & swimming pool in hotel but when I visited it was closed every day due to staff shortages - upsetting but unavoidable. I'd return there to visit the city again

Nice big hotel with large rooms although when we arrived for check in at 2pm we were told there was only 1 no smoking room and this didn't have a shower so had to take a smoking room but after keeping windows open whilst shopping n a few sprays of perfume we were fine. Nice comfy bed! Parking is out the back in a bumpy gravel area and costs £12 - you need to park up and pay at reception - give registration to them and you don't need to display a ticket. Shower was crazy, I managed to use it on the evening but next morning I couldn't get the shower on so just had to have a quick bath. Staff in restaurant were always busy especially the guys constantly filling up the hot dishes. For breakfast there are cappuccino/hot chocolate machines in two areas of which I only found out as heard someone else say they were going to get one. This hotel is ideal for city centre shopping, eating, drinking and everything else.

We stayed here for just the one night as we were going to the Empire theatre and wanted to explore. The hotel is in a great location for both: just minutes away from the theatres, shops and restaurants. Parking is situated behind the hotel and is £12 for 24 hours. We had no issues but heard that other cars got broken into the same night we were staying.
The check in was simple enough but the staff were rather dull, not many smiles and just did the minimum to get their job done.
The hotel itself is very dated and could do with a facelift even if it was just a fresh lick of paint and some new carpets.
The first room we were given was on floor 6 which I believe are all smoking rooms (or at least used to be) and the room smelled very musty and smoky. We decided to ask for a new room and luckily this was done (floor 5) very quickly for us although we had to have "two singles pushed together" when in reality they were two singles with no attempt to attach them. The beds are not very comfortable and the pillows are very flat even when using the extra ones found in the wardrobe.
The room was clean but roasting when we arrived and we had to open the stiff window to cool down.
There is no ceiling light in our room just 2 lamps, one by the desk and one by the beds. Bathroom was fine but no shampoo etc just tiny bar of soap.
The next morning we had a knock at the door at 9:30am from housekeeping which confused us as check out was not til later.
We didn't eat at the hotel as there were lots of restaurants nearby.
Would we return?... No I don't think so. We would rather pay more and have a much nicer hotel. Shame, because the location is brilliant.

There are an awful lot of silly, emotive and angry responses about this place. It is a 3 star hotel and that is how it should be rated. It is not the best 3 star I have ever stayed at and it is not the worst. If you came here looking for 5 star luxury (as the building would have you believe it is) then you will be disappointed. It is tired and a little grimy in places, but if it were in perfect order, then the majority of people us would not be able to afford to stay in it, as it is an amazing, grand and beautiful building that would be 5 star. If you just want cheap and clean and soulless, go and stay in a travel lodge, if you want tired, grimy grandeur, with a cheap bar, then this is the place for you...

Just back from a 5 day break with National Express coaches. Adelphi hotel was cheap & cheerful. Room 376, twin (3rd floor) was spacious, reasonably clean & good view of main road. The windows are fitted with secondary glazing and when closed the rooms got very warm. Deep window sills so was good for keeping drinks chilled! Food was ok but I would probably get room only if I were to stay here again as breakfast was repetitive & not many choices for evening meal, although it was help yourself!
The main lounge area was fairly cold & so were the seats near the windows in the wave bar. Evening entertainment was good & being with a coach group certain drinks of wine, beers, ciders & soft drinks were 99p from 6-9pm.

Room lovely, clean with nice bathroom but no bathmat. Food in Jenny's bar was buffet style and not much choice. Was canteen style and lukewarm. Battered fish looked awful. Only 1 choice of dessert. Coffee good and excellent value at £1. Public bar was lively with duo singing and drinks reasonably priced. 3 lifts but only 1 working. Not a good hotel for disabled as steps everywhere.

Always wanted to stay here since I first visited Liverpool many years ago. I was not disappointed on this visit. Good breakfast and excellent afternoon tea served in the lounge.

It is an old building that needs alot of work. The bedding and bathroom nice and clean. Hotel centered right in the heart of Liverpool which was handy to everything. I used the pool, gym and also joined in the yoga classes. Have had one of my most relaxing holidays ever . Afternoon tea for £9.95 where would you get it and so relaxing at that. It is what you make it 😊😊😊😊
