I stayed at the Mosser Hotel in February 2020, in a deluxe Twin/twin. The staff is welcoming and can speak different languages. The location is very good, close to public transports. The hotel and the rooms are clean and calm.
From the evening we can see junkies around but that's everywhere in the city unfortunately, and this place is far from being the worst in comparison to Bush Street for example.
Free Muffin and coffee for the breakfast, a little bit "cold atmosphere" for the start, but that's kind to have them for free.

Stayed for 3 nights—Great location! rooms have everything you need (no fridge) and the staff are helpful and kind. Not 5/5 stars because our toilet paper holder came loose, not very sound proof rooms, and the carpets are a little crunchy (but clean I’m sure). The beds are VERY comfy and water pressure in the showers are good! Would stay here again!

So far is been two days from my planned 12 night stay and is going relatively well... Minor issue with the TV remote was fixed yesterday.. room is clean... Small but I wasn't expecting more for the price paid... Shared bathroom in the floor is not terrible.. well maintained and clean... Showers are I the weak side... Place is well located but not quiet since is in a busy area... The area has a lot of street people for those who like to walk in odd hours around the neighborhood... All in all a decent stay in the heart of downtown.

Stayed for 4 days. Located at the business district. Parking (valet) only at $57 per day, good until 3pm the next day. Should park at Ellis O Farrell parking for a cheaper option.
Walking distance to union square.
Breakfast is muffins (cranberry or banana with nut) with some choice of coffee.

Located in the thick of downtown San Francisco, the Mosser, is close to many of the attractions that any visitors would want to see. Around the corner from the Mosser is the center of public transit making everything in the bay completely accessible. The staff is courteous and prompt. There is complimentary coffee in the mornings with very good muffins, but it would better to have more options. The rooms are small, but since there is so much to do around the Mosser you won't be spending much time in the room anyway.

Great price in comparison with other hotels. Rooms are small but very comfortable, clean. Staff is nice and room service quick. Location is amazing, right in the middle of all the fun, Union Square is full of stuff to do. Close to restaurants, cafes, and many shopping locations. I would have given the place 5 stars if it just wasn't that old.

The Mosser is a beautiful hotel decorated in art deco style. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and able to leave our bags while we toured the city. Our room was clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning so we cracked the windows open a bit. The next morning we were provided with ear plugs for the street noise, (which could be loud, but I sleep through anything). There is a complimentary continental breakfast of muffins and coffee available in the morning. The only complaint was the water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent and nothing to watch on TV, but that could just be San Francisco and what is available. All in all, it is a nice hotel and I would stay here again.

I would stay again. That said, the rooms are small and the shower is more like a drizzle. The staff is friendly and helpful. Clean overall. Nice coffee service in the morning. Convenient to Market and the Moscone.

I've stayed here twice on short stopovers. The location is extremely convenient and the staff very helpful and friendly. A big bonus for holding my bags the day I left (my flight wasn't until 9pm) and for letting me check in early when my flight arrived in the morning. The breakfast was ok, but nothing special. I enjoyed my stay and next time I come through San Francisco, I'll probably stay here again.

Rooms very small but clean. Ok for 1 person definitely too small for a couple or for a longer stay. Nice staff. Great location. No closet, only space to hang 3 or 4 garments.

Depending on the room you get, the rooms are really small. The location is great. The staff is friendly and helpful. I wouldn't recommend this if you are not used to small rooms. The room is really really small.

Small, clean, quaint rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I arrived a couple hours before my check in and they allowed me to upgrade for $15 into a room that was ready and that had its own bathroom. Very convenient location for shopping and other San Francisco activities.

It's ok for a few hours. Customer service was pretty good and satisfactory. They didn't have a kitchen or a kettle or mugs but reception was nice enough to give me hot water from the staff room.

The rooms are tiny and you can hear everything going On in the hall.
They do have more than basic things, which I liked, for example, toiletry, iron, etc.

staff guides you to where you can go if you have any questions.

Cleanliness was spot on. There was a lot of lighting in our room, and couldnt block it with just the blinds they had. :( we wanted to sleep because we were jet-lagged and just booked this place for the day, just to get ahead on our rest. The location is PERFECT if you wanna go shopping. Perfect.

The shower water pressure sucked.

It's okay. Extremely small rooms, no fans or anything for air circulation so we had to have the windows open. This made it even louder (which made it hard to sleep) then it already was with the street noise. Also very bright as the hallway lights shine through the rooms. Bed was comfy and liked that it had a bath.

It's a cute old hotel with a really convenient location off 4th and mission. I stayed in a shared bathroom queen, and the shared bathroom and shower facilities were kept very clean. The room was small but nice, and quite comfortable for one. I really enjoyed the historic building and had a lovely stay.

Stunningly refurbished old style hotel, superb service and very reasonably priced. Complimentary WiFi, tea/coffee and muffins for breakfast. Ideal location for shopping. Only downsides are small rooms and shared bathroom facilities - but all modern and very clean.

I greatly enjoyed our stay here. Prices were slightly cheaper than other hotels in the area and it satisfied our needs for a three night stay for two people. Rooms are on the smaller side, as well as our private bathroom, but if you just need a place to go back to at night after exploring the city, I recommend this hotel. Room was very clean, staff was somewhat friendly. Very light breakfast offered consisting of muffins and coffee. Location was great, and close to cable car service, BUT exercise extreme caution when coming back at night. Around the corner from the hotel, on Market St, there is always a large congregation of homeless people who hassled and yelled at us as we were walking to the Mosser.
EDIT: I see a lot of people complaining about noise, but when we stayed, the hotel provided sealed, disposable ear plugs in our bathroom, but we didn’t need to use them. We did not hear any louder noise than hotels we’ve stayed at previously and felt it was reasonably quiet.

Great deal for the location! The staff was really nice and out room was very clean. We rented a deluxe room with an attached bathroom. We were a bit worried about the size after reading other reviews, but there was plenty of room for 2 people, luggage, and souvenirs. Unfortunately being an older hotel, we were bothered by noise from the neighboring rooms and the elevator which was right outside our room. They held on to our luggage after we checked out so we could spend our last day in the city.

Decent stay, but lacked in a few areas. Rooms seemed clean enough. Oddly my mattress didn't seem to fit the bed frame. Hotel smelled of cleaning solution and somewhat damp. Nice staff, however didn't have common amenities (i.e. didn't have a toothbrush when I requested). Also a warning if you stay by an alley, around 3am it gets VERY loud due to what I believe is a trash compactor or pickup truck. The positives: Great views, seemed clean, convenient location next to a target and trader joes, small breakfast offering.

Good rooms, good service, and we got a good price on the room. WiFi was a bit slow and cut out once for over an hour, but was otherwise ok. Walls between rooms are a bit thin, though, so you're able to hear conversations and music from neighboring rooms.

I would stay here again especially for a convention--Moscone is a block away! Pros: Fabulous location, good price, staff is knowledgeable and will do anything to assist guests, delicious homemade muffins and strong coffee for breakfast included in your rate. Cons: very noisy at times from being on a busy street (free earplugs are provided and I had no problem sleeping) and the tons of homeless people all around the area. They do not come into the hotel (and there are many hotels in the area) but I was kind of surprised. I did not feel unsafe, but it is something to be aware of. I suppose San Fran is so expensive that more and more people are having trouble making a living. I assume you might see this in New York and other big cities where the conventions are located.

I only met someone here to have an informal business meeting in the lobby during big dreamforce event week in 2017. Much quieter than the hotel across the street. But typical of all businesses in downtown San Francisco, there was an unsavory fellow outside spitting wildly to mark his territory while begging for money.

The historic building is very cool! That being said, you are in a historic building.. the walls/ windows are not sound efficent.. it is loud all night and there is no AC (which is usually no big deal as the weather is nice). Also the blinds are not the right fit for the windows so light comes in. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is great!

Great staff. Welcoming. Accommodating. Compact rooms, efficient. Walls are thin, but quiet for the most part. Handy hallway toilets and a bath to use if your room's bathroom is being used. Double windows buffer the street noise, but it is San Francisco, steet noise can be intense, and loud neighborhood construction noises, even on Saturdays, no window can prevent you from hearing it.

Rooms are small, to be expected given the age of the hotel. Service was very helpful, went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the room. Location can't be beat if you're looking for a central Market/SoMa location. Breakfast service is very minimal, just coffee and muffins.

love this hotel. I've been staying here for almost twenty years. Every time I visit San Francisco and want to stay close to Downtown, this is where I go. The location is unmatched. Easy access to BART, MUNI trains and buses less than a block away. Walking distance to all the shopping, bars, restaurants, museums and nightlife you could ever want to see. For the price it gets the job done, booked with hotels tonight for under $100. Rooms are small(normal for San Fran) and when they say 2 beds they mean 2 single beds. Rooms also have thin walls and we could hear other guests through the night. Staff was friendly and helpful.

What a gem, the Mosser is. And at such an affordable rate in Union Square, close to everything! You can have shared bathrooms which further makes it reasonable. The common rooms are clean, no matter what time of the day. The staff are warm and helpful. The Friday wine-tasting is an absolute delight.

Small rooms, but if you are just looking for a place to sleep and leave your things in San Fran, then this place is a gem. The rooms are clean, the water pressure is adequate, and the location is amazing. I took one star off because the price can vary greatly depending on when you book, so I felt ripped off paying $40 more per night then it was two weekends later.

The good:
Ideal location, close to everything. Friendly staff, clean rooms and shared spaces. Ceiling fans!

The not-as-good:
Because of the great location, you get the loud sounds of the city at all hours.
The friendly staff struggled for like 20 minutes to get our reservations right upon check-in.
The clean rooms are TINY, as are the shared toilets (they have one separate men's and women's private toilet on each floor, plus the 2 private shower/bath rooms per floor). No sinks in the toilet rooms, but there are dispensers of hand sanitizer. Each guest room has a sink. They also provide bath robes and a shower caddy to carry your toiletries.

All of that said, I'd stay here again. I'm someone who really values privacy, and while I'd have preferred my own restroom, I felt fine about the shared spaces.

Nice hotel in the heart of San Francisco with cozy rooms. Breakfast isn't really anything to write home about. It's mainly just muffins and coffee. But if you walk across the street there is a Target. Biggest downside is probably the noise level. Even on the upper levels, you can hear the street commotion down below into the late hours of the night.

Very secure hotel, friendly staff, small but clean rooms, extremely convenient location, and thoughtful muffins and coffee and tea in the mornings. Overall very pleasant. Would recommend for a short, no frills stay.
MAIN PROS: Windows in the room open wide (in addition to an efficient ceiling fan), in-room iron and ironing board, and FREE LATE CHECKOUT as late as 1pm, no questions asked.
MAIN CONS: No refrigerator and no microwave in the room.

The only fault I really found was the awful water pressure. I stayed in one of the rooms with a private bath. Sure it was small but it was perfectly adequate for my needs. It was also clean. Surprisingly the bathroom was quite warm, most hotel bathrooms I find not very warm so this was a pleasant surprise. (I hate showering in a cold bathroom. ) There was also plenty of room for toiletries in the shower. Most hotels I've stayed are inadequate in this regard. I was located at the end of the hall so my exposure to indoor noise was reduced. I worried about the noise as I could hear people in their rooms quite clearly while walking to mine. However, I didn't have as much issue once in the room. The door doesn't block anything so I did hear people going in and out of their rooms but no sounds from the neighbors and very little from outdoors. (Mostly sirens) The staff were all nice when I interacted with them. And it's well located for my needs. I didn't use the parking option so can't comment on that. The ceiling fan kept the room at a comfortable temperature for me. (Stayed in January.)

Rooms are very tiny, but clean and provide you with the necessary amenities! The building has an aged feel to it and has a radical old elevator. The staff was friendly and helpfully provided recommendations of food in the area. Would return, but make sure you get a good rate, they can be outrageous sometimes

This hotel is very tightly nestled into downtown San Francisco. The room was very small, but that's sort of my style - maximizing tiny spaces. The size reminded me of a college dorm room. The sink was not in the restroom, it was in the bedroom on the opposite side of the room. Of course, I like this as well - things that are different from what I am used to. It seemed there was no air conditioner, however the ceiling fan provided the perfect amount of cool air when it was on. Might be good to have a few snacks for sale all night, perhaps from the reception desk, if possible. There is also a tiny desk in the room. I'm impressed with how they were able to fit everything you need into such a small space. Don't let the college dorm room feel fool you. The hotel is quiet, unless there is construction going on outside. A great price for downtown San Francisco and within walking distance to plenty of restaurants, attractions, and transport. Also, very close to the tenderloin which you may find interesting. Complimentary breakfast is coffee, tea, and pastry only. Muffins for us each day. If you have time and prefer it, there is a restaurant that serves breakfast on the next block around the corner and a Denny's a block away.

Staff was so accommodating and friendly. Loved that i was able to do a basement wash. Per item laundry service prices are extortion though. Do it yourself or go to a laundromat. Great location in terms of convenience to different parts of the city and transportation. This is a weekend hotel. I wouldn't stay longer than two days as the shower is clean but shared with your whole floor.

The Missed is one of the best boutique hotels in San Francisco, a city filled with boutique hotels. The roons are clean, modern, and comfortable. I was in a room with shared bath and there are more than enough facilities to accomodate everyone. What really sold me was the location. Great location, helpful staff, very nice room. The room was small but worth the cost. Room had no A/C (who needs it in SF) but had a ceiling fan and a radiator. I was surprised how comfortable and clean the room was. Right around the corner from the BART station--you don't even have to cross the street to get to it. About a 20 minute walk from Caltrain, which was great as a friend came up from the south bay to visit. Target, Starbucks, and Walgreens all within a short walk.

The hotel is exactly what is expected. It is old, but with character and quite clean. The rooms are very small, but affordably priced. We were in room 518, which is a corner unit. We can see 4th from our bay window. The queen deluxe room with private bath is small but it was perfect for us. We enjoyed the natural lighting and the cross breeze from having both windows open on opposing walls. The bed was very comfortable and there was just enough storage for our belongings. At night it is loud. They provide ear plugs but we didn't use them. We also didn't close the windows because we really enjoyed the cool air. Great little cozy hotel. No complaints.

Great location

It is located at 4th street and very easy to access to anywhere in downtown. When I was booking, I could not get better location that matches with budget. If you consider the location is the biggest matter, this hotel can be righr choice.

However the room is very small (seems like less than 9 square meter) it is small as much as budget hotel in european area. But bed was comfortable and housekeeping quality was fine.

Moreover, some of the rooms did not have private bath room, make sure to check if your choice is shared bath room or not.

One last thing there was no refridgerator i had to pay one time fee (25usd) for one week stay use.
