Amenities and location are great but that only matters if you don't have to or need to sleep. The beds were terrible lumpy and small. I can't believe hotels still have full size beds. They definitely need to upgrade to queen beds. My husband is tall and his feet were hanging off of the end. We checked out early because we just couldn't get any sleep. We will not be returning to this hotel.

Loved the hotel. The location to the attractions, the free shuttle around the area, the discounted tickets and free breakfast are all wonderful amenities. Dropped one star because of the chaos at breakfast, especially at a hotel that caters to families. So many kids in such a small space was a mess. But going early and eating in our room solved the issue after the first day. Would definitely go back and highly recommend.

We had a great trip. Stayed 3 nights. Hotel room was clean and modern. They have a laundry room, fitness room, games, mini golf and a pool. The pool was awesome. It was warm, about 84F. It was large. They had a spray park for little children. It was really nice after walking all day to swim. They have buses to Williamsburg historical area so you don't have to drive. Breakfast is included and is typical America food. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

My family and I stayed here for a week. Just checked out yesterday. The hospitality was great! The free breakfast was amazing when you consider how much you will save by not having to go out and pay for breakfast for 8 days. The location is perfect if you want to visit colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens. They even have a shuttle so you don't have to move your car once you arrive. The on site activities are amazing.....salt water outdoor pool (amazing), gym, mini golf, basketball, shuffleboard n table tennis to mention a few. My only complaint would be that the mattresses in my room, 5200 was not comfortable! By the fourth day, I requested an egg crate because I couldn't sleep on the mattress like that anymore. Although the lady at the front desk called it in immediately, no one ever replaced the mattresses or gave us the egg crate to top the mattresses. Overall, our stay was still great and we would definitely stay again.

Easy to get to and right next to the visitors center, friendly staff. Fun extras, such as mini golf, splash park. Decent continental breakfast.clean room, spacious. TV not functioning at first, but maintenance came right away to fix. Downside is no microwave in the room.

A wonderful place to stay with kids. Excellent breakfast where you can make your own Belgian waffles. Great, quiet location. Great pool area with a play splash zone. Do wish that there be less plastic containers at breakfast for a more environmental approach.

Hotel staff was very helpful. Amenities such as pool and mini golf were not as well kept as we had hoped. Staff was very quick to rectify issues and helpful for planning!

Lovely & comfortable rooms. The location so close to the Visitor's Center & shuttle buses was great! Huzzah! Is a great restaurant - patient staff who were great with our young grandson .... And delicious meals. The breakfasts we're wonderful and everything was fresh every day. Staying here made our family vacation just perfect!

This is the only place we will stay when coming to Williamsburg. Love the facilities and the staff. Only complaint is that we wish the kids water area stayed open later as it is currently the middle of summer and it's still light for two hours after it is turned off. Outerwear, best place to go, hands down.

We stayed from Sunday to Thursday . It is decent. My kids loved the pool and splash pad. The continental breakfast was above average! Front desk was really nice. My complaints are they have a extreme lack of hot water. We took cold to semi Luke warm baths. The pillows were very lumpy and we found 2 roaches!!

You can't beat the proximity to the park, with small kids it has been a life saver with trips back for naps or other youngster emergencies. The pool and splash pad was a hit with them when history was no longer doing it for them. The huzzah! Restaurant was very accommodating and delicious! Rooms were spacious, with parking almost right outside to load and unload. We will be staying here again .

The rooms are clean and comfortable, but are no more than a standard accommodation similar to what you would expect at any national chain hotel. A free continental breakfast is offered (which was decent) and there is an adjacent restaurant serving lunch and dinner (which I did not try).

The primary draw for this facility is that it is located within very short walking distance of (i.e. literally next-door to) the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center. The prices of course reflect that convenience, but If you are planning to spend several days in the historic area and like the idea of being able to just leave the car at the hotel then this is the place for you.

Full disclosure: My stay was paid for by the Foundation because I was doing some contract work for them. This review was NOT solicited in any way.

Not a 5 start hotel, but for what it is, or gets a 5. Clean room. Nice staff. Next to the main entry to colonial Williamsburg. Variety for breakfast (not 5 stars but very convenient, quick and free).

They gave us a discount when we were unable to stay at the Governors Inn due to it being full. The room was very nice and the Hotel was a pleasure to stay at. It was nice having Huzzah's close by.

The hospitality was second to none! From the front desk to the cleaning staff, everyone was extremely pleasant. The breakfast bar was satisfactory. Location and shuttle services to colonial Williamsburg and even further attractions like Busch gardens were extremely easy to find and use.

The hotel was very beautiful and full of ammentities such as a pool, free breakfast, and a very delicious restaurant called Huzzah, which had one of the best Po Boys I have had! The rooms were very clean and soft, one thing that was a nusance was the hot water for the shower took a bit to turn on but aside from that I loved my stay.

We chose Woodlands as a stay for our annual trip to Christmastmas and it lived up to the positive reviews with extremely friendly and helpful staff as well as a fantastic atmosphere and very comfortable accommodations. The walking distance to colonial Williamsburg also allowed an unplanned visit there. We will definitely plan to be back.

A little late on this review, stayed here in early July. Great staff, very helpful and friendly. The front desk staff was always there if we needed something. The room was clean! Love the fact that the sink was separate from the actual bathroom, so if someone was in the bathroom. The sink was still accessible. The breakfast was good, the staff managing and monitoring the breakfast was very friendly and kind. I have no complaints! Also I loved that we got there at about 10:30. And just happened to check in with the front desk staff out of curiosity to see what room we would be in, and it was ready and housekeeping had already cleaned it from the last guests stay! So we were able to get our stuff into our room and get our day started, without having to deal with unpacking later on in the day! Was very happy about that!

Suites were a good size and had some amenities ~ microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker. The heater/AC has no auto function though, so it won't shut off automatically when the room reaches a certain temperature. Showers were fine, but nothing special. Breakfast is good, wide variety of food to choose from, although the hot food selection is lacking. Wifi is very weak though. I was better off just using the mobile network and using data. Staff is friendly and highly attentive to the needs of guests. I had an issue with my shower and maintenance was at my room almost immediately. It's a nice location, beautiful landscape, but I feel the rooms could be updated and the wifi strengthened. Overall it was a pleasant stay and I'd recommend it to people who need a convenient location to stay.

Very friendly staff. They go out of their way to help. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The only negative is that we couldn't get the room quite cool enough. The breakfast was very good. It included eggs, bacon, fruit, waffles, bagels, muffins, orange juice, apple juice, coffee, and tea. Great for families. They have a pool, water spray, putt putt golf, corn hole, and table tennis.

Perfect location for Williamsburg visit. The staff from check in were friendly and full of great info to help it's make the most of our stay. Being a quick walk to the visitor's center made getting back and forth between the colonial district and the hotel. They have a wonderful free breakfast and a hotel right on the premises that only serves dinner. The rooms are comfortable and had a reasonably sized bathroom that had nice water pressure in the shower. This is my second stay at this location and it's been just as lovely this time as it was there years ago. I hope it won't be that long until the next one.

The Woodlands was a fantastic value. The service was great. Any issues or concerns we had where taken care of quickly with very polite personal service. The facility is clean however the rooms could use some general maintenance and updating. For example our room had some tiles in the bathroom falling off the wall, but no issues I'm terms of cleanliness.
The free breakfast was amazing, a large hot and cold all you can eat buffet is perfect for large families.
The bus transport to all of the tourist attractions in Williamsburg is a huge plus and super convenient.
The accessibility of the hotel is great, easy to find by car.
Given the tickets packages we received, the free breakfast and the other amenities provided the woodlands was a tremendous value for any size family.

This hotel was very comfortable. Rooms were adequate and clean, all the standard amenities were included, and there were some nice features like the pool and 24/7 free miniature golf course. The continental breakfast was above average, including a decent selection of both hot and cold foods (and fresh waffles, a personal favorite). Staying within walking distance of our destination was great, so if you're looking for a "good enough" convenient hotel for a colonial Williamsburg visit and don't mind the price, this is a solid choice.

Stayed there two nights. Hotel was fine. Was not happy to find the splash park closed, especially since that was one of the main reasons to book this hotel. Hotel never mentored it was closed just a sign that the area was closed for our safety. High tourist season you would have thought it would be important to have it fixed and open. Played mini golf which kids enjoyed. Would only suggest fixing the carpet in some areas. Breakfast area was nice but way to small for the amount of people there.

A huge hotel in a great location in Colonial Williamsburg. A short drive to many great locations. The pool is nice and they have a really nice children's water area with a neat pirate ship. Price was decent compared to some of the other hotels. Only downside was the shower water didn't get hot.

Truly excellent hotel! The staff is very friendly, professional and extremely helpful. Breakfast is a HUGE spread with lots of options. The breakfast room was full to bursting every morning yet somehow we always managed to snag a table for 7 relatively quickly after getting our food. Rooms are a bit on the small side, but impeccably clean and with a colonial feel that is delightful. The price can't be beat, especially for staying so close to colonial williamsburg. It's also right next to the visitor's center, which is convenient. We will be back just as soon as we can!!

Loved this hotel. Such a great family friendly place. Breakfast is served daily with fresh waffles (made by you) and a buffet with eggs, fruit, pastries, and hot and cold cereals. It's right next to the visitor center where you can catch a shuttle to colonial williamsburg, or you can walk there!

So far the staff has been wonderful. They were able to accommodate an early check in so that I could move into my room before my work shift rather than after. Their pool is very nice, the kids play area is small but looks cute, breakfast is good with a nice variety, and they have 24 hour mini golf!

The service was impeccable. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The suite was large and clean and comfortable. It had a king bed in one room with its own TV. And there was a sleeper sofa in the main room with a second TV. And the bathroom was spacious. There was also kitchenette. We enjoyed the pool, too. The hotel is convenient to the Visitor Center and to the shuttle into Colonial Williamsburg. I would definitely stay here again.

The Woodlands is a wonderful option for your stay in Colonial Williamsburg! It is within walking distance of the Visitor's Center with its access to the bus directly into the historic area.

We will stay at the Woodlands again for sure!

Very courteous and helpful staff, beautiful grounds. Very close to Colonial Williamsburg (walking distance) and they provide convenient shuttle service to and from Busch Gardens and Wild Water Kingdom, along with other nice on site amenities.

Would definitely stay here again.

Great place for a family. Rooms have a door that separate everyone. Couches pull out for another bed. Pool, spa and a not too expensive resteraunt. Maids come at decent tines of day. I think it's a great place for a family, I went by myself and ended up listening g to kids run down the halls and beat on the walls for what seemed like an eternity. Got a family? Great. Go here. Other wise go someplace else if you want to sleep or have any quiet time.

Visited during Homeschool Week and had a great time. It snowed just before we went, and during the week. Sidewalks were shoveled, the rooms were warm, there was a fireplace in the Hotel's main room which has an Arts & Crafts Lodge feel. We had a King Suite - very comfortable, very clean. When we visited hot breakfast was included - make your own waffle bar, hot oatmeal, eggs, sausage, potatoes and the usual muffin, fruit, coffee, juice etc. In addition, Huzzah's Restaurant (on property) serves great barbecue (and we would know - Mr. Garner is a connoisseur) and local craft beers. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Tram pick up to Colonial Williamsburg is a short walk from hotel, as is the Visitor Center with Gift Shop and Book Store. We will be going back!

We just spent 3 nights here with my parents. Our first time visiting Colonial Williamsburg. We had a great time. There is so much do for adults and kids. The hotel has a nice pool that is opened until 10 pm :) They have activities in the early evening for the kids: crafts, games and magic show, etc. There is also a corn hole set outside in a grass area for guests to use. There is also free putt putt course, ping pong tables and playground. The breakfast is awesome. It can get crowded, but what can one expect with so many guests. Just see when it's most busy and go earlier or later. I never saw any item run out. The staff were on their toes with keeping the food stocked. Breakfast was served from 7 am to 10:30 am, which is awesome. My only suggestion is to start it at 6:30 for those early risers. Huzzah BBQ is great for their ribs and pizza. The pizzas are huge and at a great price, $14. Just remember the tax there is 11%. The location is perfect access to Colonial Williamsburg!!! You can walk to CW or take use of the free bus/shuttle that is a/c and very convenient when you don't feel like walking anymore. So much to see and do here. Be sure to plan out your stay for the events or houses/buildings you want to see. I recommend the Grace Hope Plantation and there's an hour or so talk and it's so worth it (free admission, but need a ticket, from the Visitor Center). You do have to buy the a ticket overall for visiting certain sites there, but once you do, the Grace Hope Plantation is included. Also Storming the Palace, Governor's Palace, Courthouse (real court hearings from the 1700s), and the Capitol are awesome. Our next visit we will be sure to go to the Powell House and Randolph House. The Ghost Tour was good too :) The multi-day pass is worth every penny! Be sure to tell them you are a guest at whichever hotel because you get a discount :)
