Been to this place many times... Currently, we're staying at the River Village for the first time... just like most of the units, it's dated but it's fine... but this time, it's the neverending stairs... We are a family of five with little kids... It's was very exhausting carrying all the luggages upstairs... I took about 10 trips going up and down... now, my wrist and legs are killing me... I just wished they warned us about the stairs or sent help... Hopefully, we get to enjoy the rest of the trip... 🤞

A little disappointing... Our family has traveled to many Wyndham resorts across the country, been owners for roughly 15 years, and this is the worst managed property we've ever been to.

There was insufficient staff to handle check-in (long lines and over 30 min. wait). While waiting in line, another traveler who indicated she is a frequent guest suggested the resort is regularly understaffed. Calls to the front desk rang for long periods without answer. The shower in the upstairs hall bathroom leaked. Upon a routine visit to the front desk, we heard another family complaining about a dirty unit they received upon check-in. For a resort with hundreds of villas w. fireplaces, no firewood/starter logs were available for purchase on site. All of this doesn't even touch on the rude, overaggressive sales push we received upon check-in (and 2-3 reminder phone calls to our unit the morning of the "member update"). Again, we've been owners for many years and been on a lot of presentations, but this was tacky. For all the aggressive sales they're pushing, it was odd that the units still have appliances and decor from the 1980s.

Loved the grounds, and the resort is well situated -- remote enough to enjoys sights of wild deer, turkeys, and woodpeckers on-site, but less than a 10 min. drive from shopping/restaurants, etc. I'll come back to the area; this just won't be my first choice to stay unfortunately.

The registration people we're nice. The place has a very nice miniature golf course, a very nice recreation center with a pool table and ping pong table, a small fitness center and a place to play basketball. There is an indoor and outdoor pool with lifeguards. The grounds are landscaped beautifully and the place is clean. We stayed in a two bedroom condo that had plenty of clean towels, there were two full bathrooms and a powder room. There is a washer, dryer , microwave and dishwasher. There is a screened in porch and everywhere you look there are trees and greenery. The rugs, furniture, are a little dated; but, the place is roomy. The place is convenient to many fine attractions and restaurants in the area and usually only twenty minutes away by car. I would so stay here again.

I have had a great time here! It is very secluded. A little different in the fact you pay for more things to do. The staff is friendly and helpful. Maintence was prompt when we had a problem. There is lots to do in the surrounding area. One and a half hours from NYC and Philadelphia. I definitely would visit again.

I love the location in the wooded area. The rooms are spacious. The kitchen could use some updates, but is a nice size and functional. 3 full baths was a plus but the whirlpool tub seems not to have been properly cleaned. Gave the kids a bath and all this brown stuff came out of the jets. Overall pleased. Check in staff was wonderful and enthusiastic.

Our first place was fine until we came back and found a ton of ants running around in our kitchen and all in our donuts. But we called to have an exterminator come and handle it. Once he seen the ant were still around he called to tell them we requested to be moved to another unit which they didn't have a problem with. The following morning we moved and it was much better but there were more bugs, huge spider which my husband took care of.. Then other random bugs. I hate bugs so it bothers me but I guess it's unavoidable giving the time shares are in a wooded area. Other than that it's not bad.

Started in RT98 (ridge top). The tub was like bathing in a barrel. Small and round. The ants came out at night and we woke to hundreds of them on the kitchen counter. Called the front desk and left a message about 11am. After 4pm with no call back we went to the front desk. The girl was like yeah the ants come out when it rains. We can send an exterminator over to spray. With us in the unit! We requested and got a other unit in another location. That unit was by far better. Only a few ants, a real tub and kitchen cabinets with doors. Don't think we will ever go back.

Enjoyable view on the patio with plenty of space between two floors. Bathrooms were also relatively relaxing. The full-sized beds were soft but moved around a little too much since they were on wheels.

Extremely busy on a Saturday night. Food was excellent, but it took a while to get. My husband received the wrong menu item salmon meal sauce and the waitress didn't return to our table till he had almost finished his plate. It seemed she had way too many tables to handle. The manager came to the table and was super nice and couldn't apologized enough. He refunded my husband's entire entree dispite him saying it was delicious we just didn't want to be charged for the more expensive meal.

Good spot for vacation if you are not expecting luxury. Comfortable but little rustic resort. Villas are basic , but have all you need on vacations. Not many options if the weather is rainy as both , indoor and outdoor pools close during storms. There are activities throughout the day from bingo, arts, games to hoola hoop contests.

We stayed at the Fairway units three days ago. Very cute, with a little porch on the outside. Two story unit with lots of closet space and spacious rooms. Units are spread out from where you check in. Over all our unit was okay, kitchen was upgraded, but bathrooms needed help. Beds were hard and sheets were super stiff and very uncomfortable. Check in is late at 4pm and Check out is super early at 10am!!

Wyndham resorts at Shawnee is like a home away from home for me. I've been going most of my life, and things have been constantly improving. My biggest problem was connectivity, but not there is free WiFi and cell service isn't as bad in the area.

I was NOT expecting the hotel to be this way. It honestly felt like a second home. Second floor, washer and dryer, pots, pans, utensils, television, a bath big enough for my giraffe-like body to sit down in, I was truly shocked. And it was not too far from the actual resort! I loved this place and would definitely go back.

Rooms are great. We have special room for my barely walking father and it is comfortable for him. Service is good too: you do need a car to move around, but they provide shutlle buses ( they ride within village) as well.

Ok but once again I needed to call the front desk because the unit wasn't clean. Bugs in the tub, toilet and shower not clean. The floors in the kitchen, and bath were dirty. Connie the manager offered to move us to another unit, but we had already schlepped the gear up to the unit.
I asked what could be done to compensate for the cleanliness. $75 towards Alaska Pete's. They must own the place because gift cards were handed out by the manager.

We stay there yearly with friends because it's great rates on staying at what is essentially a condo. It's great to have the large space for multiple people. But other than that, it's pretty average. So if you're looking for somewhere to stay with a group so you can visit local attractions, I would recommend it.

Shared a small cabin with another couple, and had a great time. The food at the Gem & Key was good. They will try to sell you a timeshare when you check in, but other than that, it was great!

The Good - Nice floor plan. Furnished kitchen.
TVs in Bdrms & Lvroom. W/D in units. 2.5 baths. Plenty of parking. Quiet area.
The Bad- Middle of nowhere. Buildings look nice outside but inside ours was dated back to the 1980s. Stained mauve carpet, green curtains, linoleum in bathroom & kitchen and cheap, old motel grade bedspreads. They could be cute but carpet looks awful and needs updating.
We heard there were nice units somewhere but not in our area!

The units are in serious need of updating. Usually we leave a tip for housekeeping but needed a good spring cleaning. No Kleenex in baths. I packet of laundry and dishwasher soap.

On a positive note the unit was big. Pool was great for grandkids. In the summer there would be a lot of activities for kids.

8

Although the unit decor could be updated, the experience was superb. There are typical amenities available, mostly located in the recreation center, and even a shuttle service around the "Village" which can be called in for easy transportation. Around the Resort are the sprawling Appalachian Mountains, which offer ski slopes and trails to the Delaware River as well as small business shops in scattered towns.

Wyndham Shawnee is located 10 minutes away from Shawnee ski mountain and surrounded by various shops and restaurants. I had heard that the rooms were dismal and old but that was not the case when I got there. The rooms were a rustic style and were very clean and in working order. There was more than enough room for a family of 4 and we would definitely go again next year for another ski trip.

Kids love their activity selections. The resort is old school, lot's of 70s feel. Not much modern but it's still fun to get a couple of units and getaway with family or close friends with home cooked meals.

I've been coming here for over 10 years now and it always feels like home to me. The houses there are always clean and the recreation center has plenty of activities. The gym is lacking with one bench, one recumbent bike, one elliptical, 2 "stair steppers," and dumbbells that go up to 25 lbs.

I was nervous at first because I read several bad reviews but I was hopeful and This Place Did Not Disappoint!!! We are staying in a 2 bedroom unit in Crestview which has everything in the listing and more. We arrived early, trying to avoid holiday traffic and at check in, the very friendly Judy got us situated right away. The house is immaculate and fully stocked with everything a family needs. Although there are large families with children staying above and beside us, we are completely undisturbed. The only reason they do not get 5 stars is because the rec center is just okay, still, the staff have been quite friendly throughout. Not even bothered by the Wydham sales pitch, its expected since it is a timeshare. We will be back!!!!

Visited in November so the outdoor facilities were unavailable. The villa was clean and comfortable but dated looked like it had not been renovated in 30 years. The indoor pool, gym and arcade are clean and well maintained but pretty basic. Overall a nice place with plenty to do nearby. Might be nice to return in the summer.

This Wyndham site is not as nice as the other four we have stayed. The unit that we had was a two bedroom right on the golf course. The wood of the front door had rotted on the outside which didn't effect it structurally but did affect it esthetically. The upstairs bedroom was very hot even with the thermostat set to 68. The condo smelled musty and the decor was notably aged. This unit is set to be upgraded as they are doing so to the other units in this block. The rec center was fun for the kids.

This place is good to get away and do nothing. But if you want a place filled with activities and amenities... This is not the place. We went in with two children and another couple who also had two kids. It was very convenient to have a kitchen ready where we could cook whatever we liked because of the kids. It's in the middle of nowhere and there is barely any wifi and the phones were in roaming all the time. If you want to disconnect from the world... this is the place for you! There are two pools (indoor and outdoor). But the indoor pool was closed most of the time. My children enjoyed the outdoor and what they could get from the indoor pool. The resort itself is very run down and everything looks very old.

There were some scheduled activities at the place (bingo, ceramic painting, etc). Some of the activities required a payment of 3 or 5 dollars. There are things to do outside the resort... but you need to drive at least 15 minutes to get anywhere. We went to the Crayola Experience and it was worth it. My children had a great time and we spent a whole day there. It is about 25 miles from the resort.

We stay here often and love the area. We stay in a two bedroom condo and we love the patio out back! The area is great for walks and outdoor activities. The pool is slightly outdated and the chairs could use an update. The interior decor is beautiful and updated and there is plenty of room for guests.

After checking in, head to our room to find a family already in it. Had reservations months in advance for Crestview (nicest and newest rooms). Finally got things figured out 1.5 hrs after original check-in. Internet was very spotty in rooms. Room itself was up to par for Wyndham's newer rooms. Great base to explore Appalachian trail, Delaware river, and even NYC. Our trip itself was outstanding...3 stars because of the poor service at check-in and management.

Very nice accommodations. We were in a 2BR, 2Bath villa w/ a screened in balcony. Everything up to date, including washer and dryer in suite. Only 2 things that didn't sit well... the pools/rec/activity center was too far from the villa where we stayed and there wasn't much else very nearby.

Wonderful family friendly vacation spot. Has good amenities with a spacious kid friendly indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gymnasium, workout room, in addition to an arcade and game room. You'll find something for everyone to do. Outside facilities include outdoor pool picnic benches along with outdoor grills, playground and a volleyball court. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained the cabins are fully featured I stayed in a large cabin with two large bedrooms each one with a full bathroom in addition to a bathroom on the first floor full kitchen nice living room with working fireplace. The only critique is the abysmally slow wifi which is at least free. Though you are probably coming to a place like this to disconnect it's worth noting. Overall recommend a stay here

A nice relaxing place to stay. Just enough commodities to enjoy yourself. Also some lovely local flavors and waterfalls. Don't miss Dingman falls. It's free unlike Bridalveil Falls which is rather expensive and quite a long hike. You can even climb to the top of Dingman and look down from the top at the people below. Very very nice. About a mile total round-trip

The place was nice and spacious and a great mini getaway for a couple days. The only problem I had though was the amount of spiders that we found inside the this place. I felt like I had to keep shaking out cushions and bed sheets just in case they were hiding in them. Idk how long the place been vacant for but probably a while if there's bugs creeping. Other than that, plenty of privacy quietness and comfort.

Definitely needs an update. River Village has a shared laundry facility - most others do not. Early April and TONS of bees, bugs, wasps on the buildings. Was also actively under construction which just meant more vehicles and some daytime noise.

Very outdated. Paint chipping, dents and nsil holes everywhere. lots of cosmetic issues, carpets filthy. My slippers were black on the bottom from walking around. We brought our family and planned on cooking but between the lack of decent pans to cook with and the stove being useless it took forever to get a decent meal cooked. The stove burners woyld hear up fine, then shut off so we had to keep switching burners. It was kind of funny after awhile.
We had 5 people in our group. No luck taking more than one shower within an hour . The water tanks held up for one full and one 5 min. Shower before it ran cold.
I will say it was beautiful on the property itself and the staff were nice.it was very quiet too!

Not a bad place to stay. Townhouses are very big and well equipped with the basic amenities of home. Fixtures and decor are kind of dated and the beds are not as comfortable as some of the other resorts we have stayed at. Overall, this is a very good option for the area and we would definitely stay here again.

Shawnee is a great getaway from the craziness in NYC. It took less than 2 hours to get here, and I feel like I'm in another country. Our cottages here have been amazing, with room to spare in each. The decks all overlook the river and snow covered landscape, it really took my breath away. From check-in to checkout, the staff here has been so helpful and kind. Everyone seems eager to help in any way that they can, it's refreshing to see a dedication to service that seems to be less and less present these days. We'll be back next year, all 11 of us!

We stayed here in the summer of 2012. The units were nice, but need renovate/repaired. Also, the stair climb is very strenuous. We had several individuals with us who were in their 60's and found it hard to access the unit. I can see younger people enjoying the climb, but for them it was tough. All in all the stay was pleasant and fun. We saw a bear rummaging around the area, and there are deer on the golf course. We would be happy to say again.

Avoid this place ! There are surely better places in the Pocono's.
The email confirmation informs you of the address you'll be staying. They have several locations in the area. However, what they don';t tell you is that
you need to go to the main office (buttermilk falls rd) to check in first. The names and address of each place, is very similar, so when trying to locate
the address, I was not really sure of where it was. Maybe the fine print detailed the info, but I never saw / read it. The "apt's" are relatively nice, but need to be cleaned better, the couch was not clean, and a dust cloud rose when I sat down on it. The rooms all smell damp, dusty. The air conditioning was very good @ the lower level, really cold, but it didn't seem to want to go upstairs to the bedrooms. Bring your own soap, what they provide is insufficient and "pine scented" Yuk !
The grounds/landscaping could use some more grass, lot's of bare spots. Pools were clean and refreshing, it was really hot that week we were there.
Don't be fooled about the "free lunch"... it's just a 1 hour time share presentation, which we knew would happen, which their front desk personnel denied. Seems there's somewhat of a problem between the front desk people and the marketing people as to how to inform guests of this presentation. I didn't find too much to do there, several of the things to do cost extra (mini golf)... why ? We used the place as a center of travel only, leaving the area each day, while using the pool several days. The indoor pools was being cleaned while we were there ( bad timing on their part). This place needs work, I'm rating it a 2 out of 5
