We were able to book on the day due to a mishap with another place we were staying at. Very small & cozy rooms up on the higher floors but thankfully we were able to change to a larger room on a lower floor with no extra cost as we felt uncomfortable being up that high.
No free internet & restaurant, but a T-Mobile store is up the block and a Morton Williams Marketplace is across the street.
Convenient location in Midtown and very helpful staff!

Staff is super friendly. I especially liked the man that checked us in and the bellman. The bellman was so helpful in assisting us with our luggage, helping us find the parking garage and offering suggestions for family friendly restaurants. Not sure of his name, but he was a tall, slender gentleman with dark hair. The front desk clerk that checked us in was very kind to my daughter. He offered her a toy duck to play with while we waited for our room. The location of the property is top notch! Directly across the street is an amazing fresh market with anything you could need and a Starbucks! Only a short walk to Times Square and Central Park is just around 2 blocks away. We had a suite. Very spacious for kids to run around! Only negative is the hotel is extremely dated, that said, our room was very clean and the beds were comfy. The datedness kind of gave it old school NY charm. The kitchenette with microwave and mini fridge accommodated my family perfectly as we were traveling with a 2 year old. Parking garage was about a 7 minute walk and very affordable. Only 24 dollars with the voucher the hotel gave us for our 24 hour stay. In my opinion, you can’t beat this hotel for the price point.

The hotel staff was great during check-in, super quick and efficient. Was pleasantly surprised when I went up to the room and was bumped up to a suite. The location is great and close to the park and subways.

The location is very good. The N, Q, R train station is a block away. The elevators are old and slow. The staff are friendly enough. The room was a decent size. The bathroom fixtures are dated but everything works. Central Park is extremely close.

Good location, clean and spacious rooms. Reasonable prices. Did not hear the noise from the street. Yes the hotel is a little old but who cares. We did the reservation directly by calling the hotel, saved a couple of bucks there.

This place was awesome!! And more than I could have imagined for the price. I stayed there over Mother's Day weekend and the room was beautiful and contemporary / modern with the marble and glass bathroom. The beds were so comfortable and clean. The room service was polite and courteous. What more can I say.

We loved this hotel. Large prewar suites at a reasonable rate. Comfortable and great location on the same block as Carnegie Hall. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in NYC.

This hotel feels like you've stepped back in time just a bit, in mostly a good way. Everything felt mostly clean but, hasn't been updated in awhile. Except the bathroom sink which they didn't bother trying to match the original tile. That being said, I would stay here again. If you have kids, this is NOT the hotel for you. Windows opened fully and no screens or bars in any window!!

Stayed here for 5 days, they cleaned and tidied our room each day and replaced toiletries and towels. I would stay here again as service was great. It is how ever right off a busy street where you can hear traffic pretty well even on the 15th floor (where we stayed). The windows are also very dirty.. but what can you do 15 storeys up in NYC. All in all its a great location and great service.

If you are looking for an affordable hotel, that is clean with huge rooms and a really great location, this is your place. If you are looking for a room that is modern and up-to-date amenities, pay twice as much or more and stay somewhere else. We REALLY loved our stay here. The room was huge (apart from the bathroom, which was tiny) the location was fantastic, we pretty much walked every where we went, and the staff was friendly. I would definitely stay here again. I hope they don't remodel it, or I probably won't be able to afford staying there!

I had a great experience visiting NYC for the first time recently. The Salisbury was the perfect match for our budget and took good care of us during our stay. After leaving and getting half way home I realized I had left my iPad. The housekeeping department had already informed the front desk that it was left and they shipped it to me, NO CHARGE! That's customer service. Thanks folks!

It is a great hotel right in the middle of midtown and only two streets away from Central Park, it is pretty close to time square and Rockefeller center. Over all great location and great views of the bustling city below equipped with a nice kitchenette. Employees there are so kind and helpful to can’t wait 😊 to come back.

Pros: big room with fridge, microwave, bar sink, large closets. Close to subway stop, fresh market, walkable distance to Time square with places to grab a bite to eat along the way.
Cons: not enough towels unless you asked. Bathroom needs work on chipped tile, warped sink stand. Needs bowed out shower rod because shower curtain clong to you. There was only one foot of room to stand in without touching it.
Tub backed up night before we left-which wasn't our fault. Clog somewhere in the line so it wasn't fixed and we couldn't use it the next day. Still waiting to hear if we get money back because the front desk could make that decision.

Not bad for the price. Def very old - fixtures appear they were last updated in the late 80s, bed was just OK, couch (sleeper) was terrible to sit on. No amenities at all - no gym, no restaurant, no coffee bar, etc... lobby is the size of a large hotel room.

Can't beat the location - 2 blocks from Central Park and close to many restaurants.

If you are looking for a good deal in Manhattan this checks the box, if you want a plush hotel find another spot .

Hotel has seen better days. It is an old apartment building turned into a hotel and you can tell. The staff makes up where the building lacks. Very friendly and outgoing. For the price and location though, a good deal!

This was a great spot, and a nice place to stay in the city. I thought it was petty inexpensive, especially since you can walk to central square, times square, central park.. easily all from its location. You can basically see Times Square from the corner of the section the hotel is on.
I was there during a busy time, and my friend and I ended up getting upgraded to a suite for no extra charge. It was basically like having an apartment room. It was nice! I have no complaints at all. Its also a great spot to get tons of different kind of food delivered. All through the night.

Got an incredible deal thru JetBlue, location is the perfect place for NYC. I'm born and raised NY this is centrally located. It's old and definitely not 5 star accommodations. If you travel and need to live in a posh hotel, Salisbury not for you. If you're a savvy traveler and know a bed, clean room is all you need.THIS is the place!

Room was tidy and clean. Housekeeper changed our sheets every morning. Great location for an affordable price. It did not have too many in-house amenities but being in Manhattan everything is within walking distance. I wish there was a map of Manhattan provided in each room; also room phone does not have any dialing instructions or directory.

Worth every penny! Sure the bathrooms are outdated and the furniture is vintage but it was very clean, in a great location, and staff was friendly! You can't get hotel rooms this big for this price very easily anywhere in the city. We loved our stay!

Was just discussing with another customer what the to this place is. I don't know. There are no amenities like a restaurant, bar or even a coffee machine on your room. It is an old place that hasn't been updated in a while. That rooms are spacious and prices are reasonable by New York standards
The staff is pleasant and helpful.

We were with a group and had to be given another room because the original room wasn't quite ready. When we got to the new room, there were half empty water bottles sitting around, and the coffee pot was half full. We called down to ask for them to come and check it while we were out, and when we returned we DID have more clean towels, but the coffee pot, which had been pulled out and set on the counter, was still there. Other than that, we really had no problems. Everyone we dealt with was professional, although perhaps not as thorough as they should have been

Old New York at its best. I will never ever stay anywhere other than the Salisbury Hotel while in NYC again. Every staff member I encountered was nice and accommodating. And you cannot even beat the location. I will be back next October!

Coal fire pizzaria downstairs and with these a/c window units, smoke comes in the rooms. Irritates your eyes and creates a constant odor. Clean rooms but absolutely no updates have been done in years. I believe a church owns this hotel. The building is shared with a church at least. The problem with that is elevator usage is increased. Just a tired old hotel. Even the lobby is depressing.

Location is outstanding! About five to ten minute walk to many famous landmarks and sights such as times square, Rockefeller center, shops on fifth Avenue, Central Park, grand central station, Broadway theaters, etc. Rooms are spacious but dated. Room service was great during my stay and catered promptly to our every request. Internet however is not free. It's hosted by a third party provider which charges exorbitant rates per day and per device. That's why I'm docking a star. It's late 2017, this practice is unacceptable.

In comparison to other 3 star hotels in Downtown, this hotel is definitely provides a very competitive offers. The prices are fine. The rooms are a bit old and that's why they are BIGGER than many rooms of modern hotels. They are just bigger. And it's great. The location is convenient, right at the hart of the city.

10

Lovely big room with sitting area and separate bedroom. Lots of luggage storage and a simple kitchenette. Across the road is a market with hot meals to go (don't ask, just go and have a look) and a Starbucks, so while services in the hotel are limited there's plenty of food nearby to satisfy your did needs. One downside - there's a paucity of available power outlets so charging your phone, laptop, etc means you've got to unplug something in the hotel to do so. Don't even think of trying to charge your phone near the bed. The staff are friendly and it has great access to Broadway, Times Square and Central Park.

The furnishings are dated but the rooms are spacious, the service is good and the location is perfect. No restaurant on site but plenty within a short walk and a full grocery store across the street with a full deli bar. Starbucks is across the street too. We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at Salisbury Hotel this September 2017. Doors to the rooms are so heavy that makes it hard to open. The decor is so outdated but my most inconvenient issue is that we had a mouse in our room. I noticed something from the corner of my eye from day 1 but didn't actually see the mouse until day 3. I notified the check in counter and they sent over housekeeping to handle this issue however they were unable to find it. The hotel said we could be moved to another room but we needed to pack all our belongings and then unpack again which would be another inconvenience in my opinion. I said we had 1 more day to stay here so I declined. In checking out the following morning, I mentioned the mouse issue again. The gentleman at the desk said I can write a letter to the manager because he couldn't or wouldn't give me any compensation because we had paid our hotel in full prior to arriving. I said I would write Yelp instead. Never will stay there again.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around...

Overall, I would rate my experience at the Salisbury hotel as very enjoyable. With it being only about 4-5 blocks from times square, and even closer to central park, it is an easy walk to many of New York's most iconic sites. The hotel was very clean and seemed very orderly. The only complaint I would give us that it seemed to be stuck in the 1940's and the half price parking was still a block away from the hotel. Now if you like the old timey look then this place is perfect for you.

I love this hotel! I have stayed here four times now and I have never had a complaint. Sure, it's a little outdated, the mattresses are a little firm, and the bathrooms are small, but it's easy things to look over. When in New York, I only use the hotel to sleep and shower, so what more could I possibly need? This is close to many things and walking distance from a subway station. Central Park is only a couple of blocks away, and it's easy enough to walk to Times Square. I personally love this hotel and will continue to stay here whenever I come to New York.

Nothing special here. The pictures make it look fancy but it's not very. The guy there insisted on giving us a tour of our hotel. He didn't carry our bags but wouldn't give us the key until he walked us through the hotel showing us the bed, the TV, the safe, the bathroom...Seriously? I know he just wanted a tip but I don't tip for silly things. I think I can find the toilet on my own.

Nice place. These seem to be apartments that have been (barely) converted into hotel rooms, so they're spacious, but dated, and rough around the edges. Nice to have a fridge! Great location and good staff. And everything was clean.

Overall, we had a great experience staying at the Salisbury. It's location was within walking distance to Time Square, Rockefeller Center, and everything in between. I gave it three stars as the hotel could stand for some updating/upgrading. The bathroom in our room, for example, was definitely dated and a bit dingy. The room does have window air conditioning units and during the winter these were not removed and windows closed. This lead to the rooms being quite drafty, especially in the thick of winter. The rest of the accommodations were adequate. I would stay there again.

Hotel has been around since 1930, before it was apartments before being converted to a hotel, the apartments look old but we'll featured, however had issue with water for one of the sink. Internet via wifi requires you to pay but I guess it is like that in New York. Either way an alright place to stay just a few things to make it convenient for their guests.

Very affordable hotel in central NYC. The location is great, just a short walk from Central Park. Breakfast was not included in the room price. The breakfast room was a bit crowded, and the breakfast itself was very simple. But there are other food options close to the hotel.

This was my first trip to New York, so I was expecting something like the Plaza, so I was a little off put at first. I walked in and the lobby was a lot smaller than I expected. The staff was really nice. The elevators were really old and noisy, and since I'm scared of elevators as it is, I almost dreaded going up and down 5 times a day. My room was very spacious, and it had like, 17 closets. Which I guess is good if you're staying long term. The furniture was outdated and the air conditioning unit was very loud. The WiFi was expensive, but what's new. The breakfast was also overpriced for what it was. It was all cold food, just cereal and fruit and stuff like that. All I wanted was a sausage and a Texas waffle, honestly. It was really close to Times Square, which was cool, and there was this cool little grocery store right across the street, which was very helpful. But in all it was really cozy and the staff was so nice that it made up for all of the downsides.

The best thing about this hotel is the location and size of the suites. However, there is a lot wrong with this hotel. The furniture is very outdated and all of the lamps were mismatched. Did not feel like a three star hotel. We noticed stains and hairs on the pillows (also seemed to be missing one) and killed a cockroach in our room as we were leaving. The staff was friendly but I just didn't feel this hotel was deserving of its high rating or the price. Will probably be staying elsewhere during my next visit.
